Just letting you know Matt that I'm still available for our match tonight. I've been waiting around all day while doing some paper work.
I'm sorry. Long story short, between noon and 1 P.M., my 5 year old 52 rear projection died. Being broke, I thought I was fucked as far as any games or TV would go.
However... I managed to call upon the ancient power of borrowing money from a family member who doesn't expect you to pay them back right away! As such, I replaced my old, recently deceased 52" rear projection TV with this-
Proscan 40" 1080p LCD TV.
I was going for the biggest, cheapest 1080p set I could find at that price range, that had decent-good reviews. I saw that one for $550 and I am very satisfied. It'll take some getting used to, having a 40" screen rather than a 52". But this one doesn't cut off the edges of stuff like game HUDs and ESPNews scores (stuff near sides of screen).
And WOW... games looked excellent in 1080i on my rear projection, but UFC is so much brighter and just more vibrant and alive on the LCD screen. It's too bad I don't have a 360 with an HDMI port. My HD DVR has one, but I don't think TV shows go higher than 1080i anyway.
It's amazing how much better looking HD content is on this LCD TV, when it looked so good on my old projection set. The colors... I can taste them.
Okay, nerdgasm over. Anyway Stevie, I just finished setting that up and testing it out after a loooooooooong day preceded by no sleep last night. I am really sorry about not playing today, especially after I said I'd definitely be available Sunday, but shit was beyond my control.
So, tomorrow? I will be home from mid-afternoon on, and we're both in southern California so we don't need to worry about time zones and shit.
EDIT: Almost forgot. The irony of all this? (Nate knows the story) I had bought a PS3 and surround sound system months ago. The PS3 wouldn't work with my non-HDMI, non-720-displaying old TV. So I returned the SS system in order to get more money toward a potential new TV. I was only given a $500 credit line from Best Buy, however, so no TV. I returned the PS3 and got a Wii. Now, though I love my Wii, I have just become an owner of a TV that will run the PS3, and the only flaw the TV has is its tiny speakers. Surround sound would be great right now.
