The demo is up at the Xbox live marketplace now (and I assume on the PSN store as well).

Um...this game fucking rocks.

It's roughly a thousand times deeper than I would have thought and it is absolutely gorgeous.

I played one match and knocked Rua out with hammerfists near the end of round 1...then in the rematch I ate a flying knee and while I was shaking that off got dropped with a right hook. I managed to get up but after getting a desperation takedown I tapped to a triangle choke.

This game is a win.

My ps3 demo is installing as we speak. BRB

Bak: Outfucking standing. It reminds me alot of the old WWF attitude games with certain button presses activating certain combos, but it plays far better.

And it is absolutly beautiful. Definate purchase.

So do fighters fight like they do in real life? Like is a fighter shitty on the ground in real life shitty in the game?

I'm not too excited about the game, as it simply looks like a lot of rehashing of previous MMA games, with the graphics looking like they came at the price of animation, with a lot of the grappling animation actually looking like a step back from the PRIDE FC game. Hopefully playing the demo a bit will raise my expectations.

In the demo you can only be Shogun and Chuck, Dama so it's hard to gauge. I keep getting my guard passed like nothing by Chuck but I think that's more of my inexperience.

So far my best sequence has been, Chuck knocked me down with an over hand right but I managed to regain guard where I threw up a desperation triangle which he avoided and moved to side control. From there he transitioned to north/south and threw some body punches until I managed to push him off me and stand up. As soon as we hit our feet I threw a flying knee that rocked him and I finished him off with a right head kick.

Oh man, this is total awesome and would explain why SDvRaw has been poor the last two years, if they've been busy hammering away at making this spot on.

Well, the demo changed my mind. Somehow the videos made the animation look much clunkier than how it comes off on screen, and the new grappling system is good, if some things aren't explained too well in the tutorial. The ground & pound still looks very akward, but that's a relatively small complaint.

Click the left stick in and move in whatever direction you'd like to run. You'll be making like Kevin Randleman in no time.

Submissions seem extremely hard to secure unless the other guy is low on stamina. So far I've hit a bottom half-guard kimura and a North/South choke with Shogun.

Flicking is just that. Flick the stick in that direction.

I could see myself sucking very easily in this game at higher levels. I don't have the dedication to go through the demo fifty million times to "train".

Plus, I Kid Yamamoto'd a guy in the demo. Run Across Cage > Flying Knee > KO. I've done all I can, I feel.

No flash submissions at the beginning of a fight? They happen in real life.

I think having a guy with a really good submission rating might make that possible. I definitely find it easier to get a submission with Shogun than Chuck.

I can't wait to dominate with Tim Sylvia and Kaz Nakamura... man, I still can't believe Kaz made the cut but Sokodjou did not.

Yeah, looking at their stats (which are somewhat hard to read due to their size on screen), it looks like the difference between Shogun's Sub Offense rating and Chuck's Sub Defense rating is pretty small, so hopefully they'll be easier to get in the full game, or at least make it so the enemy doesn't get a full sweep from EVERY escape.

This game is going to ruin my life in the most wonderful of ways. Me and me roommate beat the shit out of each other until he had to go bed and then I stayed up and practiced on a defenseless Chuck. Rubber guard~!

Couple of things I'm hoping make it into the final game:

- Body shot & low-kick KO's. I've yet to have one in the game yet, but taking either out of the game would be a HUGE step back from previous MMA games, where though they were poorly implemented, were nonetheless present. Hopefully this is something I'm just not doing properly or was somehow just not implemented yet.

- Submission chains. This was one of the coolest things things about the PRIDE FC game: playing as Minotauro and chaining submission chains from his guard, which truly created the sense of how dangerous his grappling game was. It wouldn't be too hard to do, and making it timing based would keep it from being cheaply spammed.

- RE: Create-A-Fighter: It's IMPERATIVE that you be given more freedom in selecting your moves when creating a fighter than in previous UFC games. This was another thing the PRIDE game did better, as the UFC games basically had you doing often frustrating drills to learn often mundane techniques, with little flexibility within a chosen style. The PRIDE game simply allowed you to choose moves at your leisure like a typical pro-wrestling game, though that game didn't have to concern itself with a Career Mode. A compromise could be a limited but eventually expanding moveset akin to Fire Pro Wrestling G's Fighting Road mode, limited only by your chosen fighting style. On that note, though unlikely, I'd like to see that a character isn't limited to choosing just one grappling and one striking style, instead being allowed to choose two of either type should they be willing to give up versatility for an advantage in one realm.

This is all that really jumps out at me for now, though I could probably go on with my CAF and Career mode wants for a good while.

From what I heard before, it's still the same way to earn moves... with Judo being the toughest one to master and Wrestling being the easiest one which has me afraid that my friend is just going to spam his way and just become a pure G&P guy even though he was pumped to make himself a great verison of Hardonk.

Well balls. Hopefully there's more variation and freedom when choosing what moves to learn, at least, instead of the game basically telling you "LEARN TOMOENAGE OR BE FUCKED!"

I would hope so, they've got flash knockouts in the game, I won in 15 seconds after a huge kick to the temple.

I just played the demo for the first time. As an MMA viewer on and off for a little over 2 years now, I'm not the most knowledgeable, but I know enough to get by.

That being said, this game is awesome. Every fight felt different. I had 2 fights as Liddell and 2 as Shogun. As Liddell, I won the first fight in round 3 by rocking Rua and knocking him out during the black and white screen. The second, I made him tap out in round 2 via kimura. As Shogun, I won both fights via flash left hooks: one in round 1 and the second in round 3.

The tutorial was a beast and I don't even remember everything, but it's nice to see taht this game is so deep yet so well executed.

I'm not sure if you're talking about body shot KO's coming from a punch or what because I've KO'd dudes with liver kicks.

Yeah, I'm absolutely sold on this game as well. There's a lot to learn but the controls aren't all that complicated.
