I lost a bullshit split decision to Rampage in my UFC career. He rocked me early in the first but I fucking controlled the rest of that fight.

I picked up the new Tomb Raider once it dropped to $36 on Amazon. Superb game. My only gripe so far is that the "survival is hell" feel of the first two or three hours pretty quickly dissipates once you get a gun. When all you have is a crappy bow and you're shooting wolves or approaching your encounters with human enemies like a puzzle since they all have guns and you don't, the game is sublime. It's still ridiculously fun after you switch to mowing down a dozen soldiers with your submachine gun, but I totally would have played a more survivalist-focused version of the game all the way through.

Just started it today and yeah, the opening with a vulnerable Lara is good, but the fairly abrupt shift to "bang bang kill kill" is kinda jarring. I'm still using the bow because it's much more fun.

OK yeah, Tomb Raider is fucking great. They made getting a weapon attachment into a badass moment. I'm also really invested in the story even if it isn't super deep.

So I still crack open Doom every so often, but lately it seems to be on a daily basis now that I found this mod:

I've been playing Kingdoms of Amalur, and so far it's been a ton of fun. I recently discovered the joys of the fae blades/chakrams combo, and I've become a whirling dervish of low damage destruction, I thought I'd do my usual RPG heavy hitter route, but the finesse tree is my favorite so far. Anyone know if the DLCs are worth it? It's a shame the company was run like shit, any company that could produce this had promise.

Holy FUCK. I want it! Where can I get it?

That's actually some pretty impressive programming, adapting Doom to genuine 3D. The original Doom's dirty little secret is that it wasn't really a 3D game; it was basically just the old Wolfenstein engine. They used a bunch of tricks to make it seem like you were running around in a truly three-dimensional environment, but in reality it was basically all happening on a flat plane. (Back in the day I considered myself a smarty-pants because I figured out how to program a bridge that you could both walk over and walk under, which was technically impossible with the Doom engine.) But those clips clearly showed a bunch of parts in this new mod where it exhibited true 3D, so whoever made this put a whole shitload of work into it.

Just realized I have both Lego Indiana Jones games and Child of Eden that I bought and have never touched. Well, okay, I did play a little of the first Lego Indy, but only like two or three levels.

It's the source port GZDoom, coupled with the Russian Overkill weapons mod.

I am constantly amazing at how Doom still has a devoted following willing to mine every last byte of gameplay out of a 20-year-old engine.

Picked up the first Borderlands for $5 at a yard sale last weekend. Only a couple hours in, but I'm liking it. I'm not big on FPS games, but this one is different enough to keep my interest.

So....I might be of the opinion that Tomb Raider is my top game of 2013 right now. Even over BioShock. It's just a goddamned joy to play and the story, while not as involved as Infinite's, still hooked me in.

Speaking of Borderlands, I was going through my PS3 hard drive and decided to boot up Borderlands. Or at least I was going to, and then I was informed that it was expired. I was a little puzzled as I bought the game for $14.99 with all of the DLC packs a few years back. Contacted Sony and they were clueless, but they are going to refund my purchase, so it's not all for not.

My understanding was if you purchased a game with a PS+ discount you owned the game regardless of if you continued + membership, it's just the free + games that stop working. Is that not the case?

My only bitch about the game is not getting a moment to scavenge or look at the scenery without the mutant dogs jumping out at you and respawning over and over.

I dont know exactly, may be a weird loophole where the game suddenly stopped responding as the server check shows full price was not paid.

You are supposed to keep purchased content even after your Plus subscription expires. It's the free stuff you lose after it expires.

So I'm playing OOTP and decided that I would play as the Astros after the 2013 season. And boy is this team terrible. Like I have no idea how I could make it any better.

But then I had one of the weirdest off-seasons. There were a bunch of not so well-established oversea players that I could snap up. So I tried and nearly all of them signed to the Astros. Probably because the team sucks so bad that they could get regular playing time.

Anyone of you guys who play OOTP have that?

Fable 3 has one of the oddest openings. Your brother is a dick, your girlfriend basically demands you kill her and you are teleported to a your father's special sanctuary because......magic? I think I hate this game already.

There is a great reason your brother is a piece of shit to people if you keep playing.

I love Fable 3. I played the hell out of that game when I got my 360. Fable 2 might be better but I really enjoyed 3 a lot. It has a good sense of humor which adds a lot to it and some great voice acting.

Fable 3 was probably the game that most gave me a choice or two where i really had to think about things as my conscience vs. what's best in the long run. All tied into why your brother is an asshole...and why I became one too

I feel myself winding down on this generation. I'm going to get GTA V and Arkham Origins (and Saints Row 4 if reviews say it's worth it) and maybe some random arcade games (Ducktales, Castle of Illusion)...but knowing I'm going to be on a new console this fall has put a damper on my want to spend money on this one. Of course I can always turn on my 360 past this fall...but every new generation...I find that I really never do.

I don't have any intention of getting the next generation consoles any time soon if at all so that's not a worry for me at all.

As long as my system is still running, I'll bust out the good oldies and play them. I won't do like a full completion, but I'll play the main story/point of the game just to enjoy walking down memory lane. There are a few exceptions to that rule, but those are mostly gameplay only types of games.

I always think I'm going to do that...but it never works out that way. I just build a new workload that I won't get through on a new console.

I'm in the process of deciding what I'm going to be spending the next few months trying to complete. It's a daunting task that.

I don't think I'll get a new game system till they actually kill of the current generation. Nothing on any of these consoles screams "buy me".

I'd rather jump onto the older games and replay them, like I am with Super Robot Wars OG, or Fire Emblem (seriously, need to beat that game) than upgrade.

Same here. I just got a PS+ membership and I've downloaded so many games.
I still have to play Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, Revelations and III on my 360 then I imagine that'll never get touched again and just gather dust.
Why? Because the PS3 is so AWESOME.

I'm currently playing Uncharted 2 (already beat 1). Uncharted 3 came with my PS3.
So my que is:
-Uncharted 2
-Assassin's Creed games on 360
-Uncharted 3

I have also downloaded Infamous, Deus Ex, Saints Row 3, FF Tactics and FF8 on my PS3 and borrowed Infamous 2 from a friend. I also want to play CoD Black Ops II online (never played online before) and all the God of War games.
I have vacation in July from work....I may not leave my house during that time.
