I've been on an Ace Attorney kick lately. Finally got around to playing through Trials and Tribultations, and even though it kind of sucks I'm working through Apollo Justice right now just so I'll have completed all of the series that has been released in America. And there's an English patch for Investigations 2 that's being worked on and hopefully is done soon so I can finally play that one.

Been going through some of my older games that I have forgot about. Played through some LittleBigPlanet and Borderlands. Both solid games, but I probably got bored of them and moved onto something new. Also, I am trying to play a full season of MLB12 The Show with no simming. Games take a good 30-40 minutes, minimum to play.

Tales of Graces F for the PS3 and Tales of the Abyss for 3DS. I'm 20ish hours into of Graces and really enjoying it. I'm 8 hours or so into The Abyss and not enjoying it nearly as much, but it's still ok. The main character is fucking annoying and he's really running out of stop to stop being a whiney prick before I lose interest in the game.

Played through Fable II in the last few days and I enjoyed it a lot. I had the complete version where you get the two expansions free but I didn't realize you seemingly had to DL them still first and I didn't do that until I was well into my game and the content didn't show up in that file so that was annoying. Though eventually I'll replay it with them right now, without the two expansions I can't say I liked it better than Fable III. It definitely though did some things better and some things worse.

Been playing some more MLB 12 the Show. Off to a 4-6 start with the Blue Jays. I suck at batting, plain and simple. I manage to get like 7-10 hits per game, but I can never seem to get a hit with runners in scoring position. I may tinker with the settings a but more to try and balance things out a bit.

Also, I forgot that I had bought the original Crysis on the PSN a few months ago. I just finished the 2nd mission. Can't say I really love the game. It looks really good, but there is just too much frustration with travelling like 5 minutes, kill 10 guys and then get killed by a proxy bomb, and have to start over again. Maybe if the check points were a little closer together, or if it had a quick save feature I would enjoy it more. I don't want to explore the island if it means that any progress I made will just get reset upon dying.

Played Thor for the DS for a few hours over the weekend. Pretty fun beat 'em up and you can get it really cheap now. I think I paid $14 or $15 for it, but I saw it in the Wal-Mart bargain bin for $10 the other day.

Final word on Mafia II: good story, mediocre game.

I searched for a topic on this, looks like we just have off-hand comments.

I rented it, because I was bored, and I'm like on Chapter 9 or summat... just killed the Greasers. Pretty fun so far, I do enjoy that if I've driving all stupid that I can die in car crashes, which I think half my deaths are, jumping from tinkering around in Saint's Row 3 to this made me tighten up my cornering and not do head on collisions so often. :D

I know I'm kinda late on replying to this... But...

Graces is a lot better than I was expecting. I'm really not sure why they didn't port over the combat from that system to every other game. It was a lot of fun. A few refinements and it would be perfect. The story is pretty good and strangely enough I don't have a character I don't like. Except the bad guy, simply because the bad guy follows the RPG trend of not telling us about himself.

I want my bad guys to let me know what the are doing. Not me randomly guessing till the "big reveal" near the end of the game. Give me a reason for why I'm fighting!

As for Tales of the Abyss, Luke is supposed to be that way. Its actually a plot point and he will grow up. Though by the time I'm replying to this, you've already gotten there.

Also this would be the recipe for the ultimate Tales game:
Battle System From Graces
Plot From Abyss
Characters From Vesperia
Music From Legendia

That would give you the best Tales game. Yes, I do realize that Abyss' characters are as good as Vesperia, and you could argue that they were in fact better. But I think the plot of Abyss is what helped make them so good. If the plot had been better in Vesperia, I think it would've been a hands down runaway. And I know I'm missing "story" from there, but that's because I'd hold off judgment till Xillia comes out as I've heard its supposed to be the best.

Ahem, to keep this on topic, I've busted out NBA2k12 as many people know, but I've also been playing a few old RPGs lately and thinking how much I would like them to get a new coating of paint. Not because they need it, but simply because I want to enjoy that world even more now. They could do bigger and better things with it.

I'm currently playing Grandia, if you are wondering which RPG got me thinking like that.

Just finished Analogue: A Hate Story.

When you are trying to stop the reactor meltdown, and you are shutting down unneeded systems, the moment when you realize you have to destroy one of the AI to reduce the power consumption enough, is the pinnacle of using gaming mechanics to tell a story. There is no better example as of this point in time.

I looked up the game and it seems quite interesting. Worth purchasing Thoth?

Steam had a Civilization V free weekend, and I finally got to it last night. All of last night. And morning. And into the afternoon.

That's one game, in one sitting. My eyes are still unhappy.

Comparatively, Portal 2 was the whole single player campaign—taken at my usual leisurely pace—over the course of a few days. And a few extras (movies and such) and one Challenge Mode section, with a handful of user-created levels thrown in.

I've been pulling out MLB 10 the Show and killing a few games in my Reds franchise. Had a great game where Drew Stubbs hit a 2 run HR on a 2-2 count when I was down by two runs in the bottom of the ninth to the Brewers when Trevor Hoffman came in to close (I won it in the 10th on a Paul Konerko HR to left-center). I'm up in the division by one game with forty to play, but Jay Bruce, my major offensive contributor, went down with a broken hand and he's out for 1-2 months, so I may not even make the playoffs. Konerko was a nice pickup, though, at the trade deadline for a minor league relief pitcher.

I've also tried playing some of Medieval II: Total War as I bought the Total War pack Steam was selling for $19.99 several months back. It was Medieval II, Rome, Empire, and Napoleon. The problem is that sometimes I don't have the patience for these games and I get frustrated too easily when stuff doesn't go the way that I want it to so I inevitably just quit after a couple of hours.

Yeah, that was my take on that game as well. Played the shit out of the first game. Had no interest to touch the second one again after beating the campaign once.

Also, despite buying it a few weeks ago, I finally put some time in with Rayman Origins. What a fun little game. The controls are silky smooth.

I just got MLB: The Show 12. I can hit okay in RTTS mode but can't hit a lick in any other mode. Clayton Kershaw threw a 20K perfect game against me in my first franchise game.

Tried as I may, I could not hit to save my life in MLB 12 The Show. I was more selective, took more pitches, etc. but could never put up more than 2-3 runs per game. As much as I love the game, I wasn't having any fun playing it. I traded it in last week.

I've been told to play with the sliders. If you go on GameFAQs.com, they'll tell you it gets better and they all hit over .300.

Funny story, I can hit RTTS but not in season mode. I started RTTS with a relief pitcher called Kenny Powers. The Altoona Curve was tied 5-5 going into the 9th and I came out of the bullpen. Pitched an inning, didn't get pulled for a pinch hitter. I go up to bat with 2 out and no one on base. I lined out which was pretty good since my pitcher has no hitting attributes. I pitch three more scoreless innings. It's the bottom of the 13th with runners on 2nd and 3rd and there is one out. I swung at the first pitch and it was a line drive that went between the third baseman and short stop. Game over.

TLDR: Can't hit against MLB players, Can hit scrubs.

I'm not going to get a chance to play it until after work tomorrow but my friend texted me to let me know how great it was. And that he had a hard time making choices.

Been playing Yakuza 3 the last couple of days. I REALLY need to stop trying to find every little thing to do or this game is going to take me ages to complete.

Goddamn you Walking Dead: The Game. This may be the best, most agonizing use of choice in a game I've ever played. Just made a big one and already think I was wrong.

I didn't steal food from an abandoned car because Clementine didn't think it would be right. In the midst of a zombie apocalypse. The lesson is don't care about anything in a zombie apocalypse cause you will make some fucking stupid choices. Although 44% of people didn't either...and since that's such an obvious of course you should moment...it shows how many people are emotionally attached to that kid.

I did take it. But the look Clem gives you made me sad.

Of course, I had already killed three people in front of her by that point so she probably has a low opinion of Lee already.

I didn't know what I was supposed to do for too long in the first game in the first event where you have to save Clementine...and she was so upset that I've been walking on egg shells ever since. It's made me a better person in every choice. IRL I'd be looting and murdering everyone in these scenarios.

Spoiler tag that.
