Almost guessed in 3. But thought “they wouldn’t use that word…” so I went with a B. Got it in 4.

that is a pretty nice jump from 3 to 4.
Here was my thought process:

Guess three was to eliminate letters. After that, E had to be one of the first two letters by that point, and it seemed overwhelmingly likely that it was the second letter with a consonant coming first. Based on what I had eliminated, and a word that was _ER_ _, the odds were that it would be JERKY or PERKY. If I was wrong, the P seemed more likely to give me a yellow tile than the J, so I chose PERKY knowing that if the first letter was wrong but the others were right, I could get it in 5. If that was all wrong, I had eliminated more letters and had two guesses to figure it out.

For some reason, I have always done well at word games and cracking codes. Cryptoquip is my favorite.

Got it in six today. Could have had it in five but alas...

STERN
ERROR
DIRGE
MERCY
JERKY
PERKY

If Absurdle taught me anything it's that I need to use words that end in Y earlier. They screw me up good sometimes.

Needed all six today and spent way too much time trying to figure it out than I should have

That was what happened to me, but I got it in 4

got child on 3, took way too long to figure out what words start in c— and end in —ld. I eventually just tried to put an ‘o’ as the second letter and my brain saw it immediately. Really feel I should have gotten it faster, but sometimes you need to put a letter in there to help your brain see it.
