Wrestling Draft Cards

The High Impact Wrestling Federation presents: The Super Bowl of Wrestling

Announcers: Lance Russell & Jesse Ventura
Backstage interviewer: Gene Okerlund
Referee: Dick Kroll
Ring announcer: Joe McHugh

1. Les Thornton vs. Bob Roop

A technical wrestling clinic, as two great pure wrestlers exchange holds back and forth until the bell rings to signify a 20-minute time limit draw.

2. Buddy Rose & Doug Somers vs. Hillbilly Jim & Uncle Elmer

Played primarily for comedy, notably Rose overselling like hell for Elmer’s offense. Finish comes at 4:53 when Jim misses a charge into the corner, which allows Somers a roll up (with the feet on the ropes for leverage) to the pin.

3. Matt Borne vs. Bill Dundee

I think this is the best match on paper. Both guys can work face or heel, serious or comedy, and I think I’m going with a serious Memphis-style brawl for this one. Finish comes after a ref bump with Borne preparing to use brass knuckles on Dundee, but Dundee kicks Borne, forcing him to drop the knucks. Dundee picks up the knucks, levels Borne with them and covers just as Kroll wakes up to score the pin at 12:05.

4. Bob Orton Jr. (w/Paul Orndorff) vs. George Wells

More of an angle than a match. Orton wins a squash at 4:35, then he and Orndorff double team Wells until Hulk Hogan makes the save. Commissioner Mr. T then comes out and says that to prevent Orton from interfering in the main event, he is appointing himself the special referee.

5. Brutus Beefcake vs. David Sammartino

David channels himself after his old man way too much. After an “accidental” kick to the groin, Sammartino unleashes an onslaught against Beefcake until Beefcake goes back into a corner. Referee Kroll tries to back Sammartino up, and David tosses him to the mat, getting himself disqualified at 11:44.

6. “Make You Humble” Submission Match: The Iron Sheik (w/Classy Freddie Blassie) vs. B. Brian Blair

The match 25 years in the making. Both men juice in a wild match, with Sheik getting the win with the Camel Clutch in 12:51. Sheik keeps the hold locked in for several minutes after the match, then grabs the house mic saying “I’ve broken your back and made you humble. Now I fuck your ass!” He actually does try to pull Blair’s trunks down before half the locker room rushes the ring to keep the show from getting rated X.

7. Fatal Four Way Match: S.D. Jones vs. Ted Arcidi vs. Frenchy Martin vs. Jim Powers

First match after intermission solely designed to get people back in their seats. Arcidi makes Jones submit to a bear hug in 9:00.

8. HIWF Women’s Tag Team Title: The Glamour Girls vs. The Jumping Bomb Angels©

Remember their great match at the first Royal Rumble show. This time they pick up the pace to work more of an AJW style match. Noriyo Tateno pins Judy Martin following a double missile dropkick in 13:53.

9. HIWF United States Heavyweight Title: The Junkyard Dog vs. Johnny Valentine©

Valentine tries to use his “Skull Buster” elbow early in the match and nearly breaks his arm on JYD’s hard head. With his best weapon gone, JYD dominates most of the match, but as he works Valentine into the corner, Valentine executes a double-leg takedown and uses the ropes for leverage for the pin at 6:53.

10. HIWF Women’s Title Three Way Dance: Kelly Kelly vs. Velvet McIntyre vs. Wendi Richter©

The match is mostly Velvet vs. Richter, with Richter playing subtle heel. Late in the match, Velvet dropkicks Kelly out of the ring, and Richter surprises Velvet with a roll up for the pin in 5:36.

11. HIWF World Tag Team Title: The Bolsheviks (w/Classy Freddie Blassie) vs. Mike Rotundo & Pvt. Terry Daniels©

Volkoff sings the Russian National Anthem prior to the match to incredible heel heat. Rotundo and Daniels waive American flags in the ring beforehand but get jumped from behind as they hand them to the attendants at ringside. The Russians focus on Rotundo for a good 6-8 minutes before Rotundo finally makes the hot tag. Daniels comes in on fire and sets Zhukov up for a piledriver, but Volkoff grabs Blassie’s cane and levels Daniels with it, then places Zhukov on top for the titles at 9:52.

12. HIWF World Heavyweight Title with special referee Mr. T: Paul Orndorff (w/Bob Orton Jr.) vs. Hulk Hogan©

A tremendous back and forth title match, with Orndorff getting several very close near falls. T calls the match down the middle until the very end. When Hogan does his comeback, he takes Orndorff down with the Big Boot, then hits the leg drop. Orton pulls Mr. T out of the ring at 2, and while they argue, Hogan turns around to question T on the missed count. Orndorff levels Hogan from behind, then hit’s the piledriver and covers. T is still arguing with Orton, and as Orndorff looks over, he sees T take down Orton with a right hand and get back to the ring. Orndorff berates Mr. T for attacking Orton and shoves him. In response, T takes down Orndorff with a head butt, and a revived Hogan immediately hits a second leg drop and gets the pin at 13:08.

Jim Cornette stands at ringside and gives a brief update on what we have seen here tonight. To his surprise, comes Steven Richards, whom last we saw of him was laid out on the canvas. Richards declares that he was tired of leading those ingrates and the RTC is finished. Cornette asks why Richards is out right now and Richards proclaims that everyone was tired of listening to Cornette calling the show by himself, so he volunteered to save the show.

Street Fight
Loser Leaves Town
“The Extreme Enigma” Jeff Hardy
Vs
“King of Old School” Steve Corino
Time: 14:00
In an absolute all out war, Jeff Hardy prevailed over Steve Corino. Each men fought for their careers and put everything on the line and threw everything under the sun at each other. Weapons throughout the arena were used, nothing was untouched. The match spilt into a variety of locations ranging from the ringside crowd, the dressing rooms and finished in the arena parking lot outside the Rosemont Horizon. After a series of exchanges, Jeff Hardy, on seemingly his final wind executed a vicious DDT onto the concrete floor. Jeff Hardy returned to the arena to gloat in his victory and the end of Steve Corino’s career.

*Backstage*
A bloody and battered Steve Corino is escorted out of the arena. Corino, is granted one last interview and Corino recants his apologies to the Hardy Family. Corino VOWS he will come back to CCW and Jeff Hardy will regret what he did.

Television Championship Match

Vs
The Brian Kendrick w/Mongo Steve McMichael
Time: 16:17
The Chicago Crowd roared in appreciation for Sweetness as he accompanied the Television Champion to the ring and immediately he and his former teammate got in each others faces in the squared circle. Kendrick and Malenko went onto having a tremendous wrestling match, Malenko showing his technical abilities while Kendrick displayed his athleticism and savvy intelligence, continuously relying on Mongo to assist him. After Mongo continued to save Kendrick, Sweetness had enough of it and chased Mongo out of the ringside area into the back. Leaving Kendrick alone in the ring with Malenko. Malenko, with no obstacles trapped Kendrick in the Texas Cloverleaf for the hard fought victory.

*Backstage*
Guest Interviewer Kim Kardashin is standing with Scott Steiner and his freaks, Michelle and Layla. Scott throws his advances towards Kim and invites her to join The Freaks. Kim is of course disgusted and says she is finished with this and leaves.

World Tag Team Championship
LADDER MATCH
The American Wolves ©
Vs
World’s Greatest Tag Team w/Vicki Guerrero
Time: 17:00
Before the match begins, Vicki Guerrero is sent to the back by CCW Officials. This was the first Tag Team Ladder Match in CCW History and it certainly didn’t disappoint by any measure. Each team exhibited incredible athleticism, tenacity and desire to capture those championship belts above the ring. Midway in the match, Eddie Edwards suffered an severe ankle injury and appeared to be incapacitated for the duration of the match, leaving his partner Davey Richards to fend off the WGTT. Edwards summoned the courage and returned the ring to save his partner. The match ends with all four men battling on the ladder to grasp the championship gold. Benjamin and Richards are sent crashing to the floor leaving Haas and the hobbled Edwards alone. Edwards holds on despite a series of kicks to his injured ankle and manages to knock Haas off the ladder. Edwards, needing one more step to reach the belt struggles as Benjamin leaps onto the ladder in hopes to stop him but Edwards risks further injury by executing a thunderous kick to Benjamin’s head, sending him below and Edwards finally pulls the gold down.

American Wrestling Championship
El Generico
Vs
“Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner © w/The Freaks, Michelle and Layla
Time: 12:25
Despite a valiant effort for Generico, the size and strength of Scott Steiner was far too much for Generico but that wasn’t the entire story. Scott Steiner might have won the match and retained the championship but his post-match actions cost him a big loss after Steiner refused to simply take the victory and desired to inflict more pain upon Generico. While Layla encourages the aggression, Michelle pleads Steiner to cease the attack. Steiner refuses relent and pushes Michelle down. An enraged Generico emerges, grabs the American Championship belt and thwacks Steiner out of the ring. Michelle and Generico share a emotional hug as the Chicago crowd chants “OLE! OLE!” to the new couple.

THE MAIN EVENT
World Heavyweight Championship
Brock Lesnar
Vs
Big Van Vader © w/Vicki Guerrero
Time: 15:10
Months away from the ring clearly hadn’t affected Brock Lesnar who returned in the best shape of his career. Vader never appeared more determined to dominate another foe then he did walking proudly with HIS championship belt and The Queen of CCW, Vicki Guerrero. As expected, these two monsters were as physical, hard hitting and relentless as anything ever witnessed in pro wrestling history. The exciting finish came as Vicki Guerrero tried to assist Vader with her proven high heel but Lesnar, being no stranger to Vicki’s antics was able to thwart her and caught Vader for the massive F5 slam right in front of a shattered Vicki Guerrero. Lesnar is once again CCW World Heavyweight Champion. Lesnar glares at an enraged Vicki and proceeds to laugh in her face as he raises the championship belt high in the air.

Mine's coming in tomorrow. I have to theorize on stuff past the simplistics of it.

So is it safe to assume that like last time, the minute the drafting phase ended this thing basically died.

No, I was waiting for more people to post their cards. We'll still do the voting, eventually

I'll give it til Monday for 909 and anybody else who hasn't posted to put a card together, then I'll throw the brackets up

Superintendent God-Botherer said:
Might as well. Nobody else is interested in finishing this shit off, apparently.

I'm interested, but it is out of my hands. I posted my card. I can't do anything but wait.

All but three of us posted something, right? I think enough of us turned something in that we can move on to regionals or whatever.

Yeah, but then there's divisionals, and then divisional regionals, and then regional divisionals, and then national regionals, and then...
