I'm playing this tonight, thanks to the gift card and coupon from toys plus their rewards card, I only had to pay 12 bucks for this.

I preordered from Amazon and haven't received a code for Warrior yet.

I noticed there's slowdown with six guys on the screen.

Did anyone try to incorporate tracks from their system into the Menu Music? It looks like it should be available to select but you can only choose one track at a time. Sort of puzzling.

Other than that, had a really fun match as Cody Rhodes vs Randy Savage. I was able to scoot out of the way from the flying elbow right into Cross Rhodes for the pin. Nothing mindblowing but a fun sequence.

Holy shit, the 2K servers for online are so fast with this game. Last year it would take about 30 seconds to a minute just to download a preview of a created wrestler.. now it's only taking like 5-10 seconds.

Awesome. Last year made me want to kill people.

Undertaker is a DIRTY CHEATING SON OF A BITCH in Beat-the-Streak mode.

Easy way to beat Taker in the Streak match: Go with Lesnar and spam the running grapples, if you hit the button at the right time he can't reverse. You can do the same thing on the outside when he leaves the ring. Use the ring bell since it never disappears. Two F-5's, Kimura, and Triple Powerbomb will put him down. I went with Cesaro, Cena, Punk, Show, and Andre but Taker took them all out.

I did have a pretty entertaining Shield vs Taker/Rock/Haitch six man that saw me accidentally put Rock in an accidental daze for the last few minutes as Undertaker.

I hate the little presentation things that they fucked up in this. It's pretty weird how guys like JBL were in last years game and had their full entrance/videos.. but yet this year, since he's a "legend" for the WM mode, he has some generic "30 Years of WrestleMania" mini-tron or whatever it is. Looks really dumb when you're trying to run a Universe season and the guy comes out on Raw with a WM video playing.

Also, why is there an entrance for Savage in WM Mode for WM3 where he carries his title yet it's not an entrance we can select for him outside of that mode? So, essentially when he's a champion in your Universe, you will never see him with a title belt unless you give him someone else's "carrying the belt" entrance.

Finally (for now). They did in fact fix the "over the jacket/vest" thing for titles with Bret, Diesel, Razor, etc.. but lo and behold.. Jericho still wears his title on top of his LED jacket. #smh


*Note: I'm still having fun with the game.. it's just little presentation things like these that anyone with half a brain should be able to call out during the testing phase that drive me nuts.

That's why I wish 2K had had their own guys take over the design stuff. Hiring those three (Ledesma, Williams & Stitterson) was a huge mistake, IMO, as they have a TON of bad habits that they will bring over (and already have). People call Yukes lazy, but this "design" team is moreso as they're the ones who should be flagging these things for the developers.

Was playing "Defend the Streak" tonight. John Cena was #16. I had been destroying the roster up to this point. Cena hit the ring, and it was like fighting Undertaker on "Beat the Streak". He was throwing punches too fast for me to counter. I hit a few moves out of desperation, then holy shit, he triggered his comeback! After the spinout slam, he picked me up, hit the Tombstone (!!!) and pinned me. Bastard.

I have a feeling that's exactly how an actual Wrestlemania match between the two would go down.

The guitar part at the beginning...it's sampling from Symphony No. 7 (Shostakovich), I know I've heard it used during PRIDE or NJPW but can't find the exact part.

Smoother, IMO. Strikes are faster, running feels more realistic, and the impact that most of the moves have feels more... realistic, if that makes sense. AI is not too bad either, and gets even better if you play with the balance sliders a bit.

That's kinda what happened to me Tuesday night. I was untouchable until KANE at #29. Then I couldn't do anything and lost.

I had a hard time timing the catapult finisher but seeing Roman Reigns toss Andre the Giant up into the air then spear him in mid-air was worth it. I also really enjoyed doing it at the Mania 1 arena, seeing the classic font for Roman's name and hearing Fink announce him. Plus, as I mentioned during the preview videos, I think the "SD VHS" filter looks really cool.

Very happy they brought back the KOTR coronation animation - I wish they went all out and brought back the crown and robe, but having King Hogan sit in a throne on the ramp was good enough.

Man, I've barely even played any actual matches. I've been spending so much time just re-editing entrances/movesets and making alt.attires in superstar threads. With my luck, the DLC will erase all of this work like it does every year.

I did the same the first night I had it. Edited a bunch of entrance themes.

I do like the SD VHS filters for the 30 Years of WrestleMania mode but I wish there was an option to turn it off when playing Exhibition.

Also wish there was an option to go back to the more overhead view when playing Battle Royals / Royal Rumbles.

Still waiting for an email from Amazon for the Ultimate Warrior download code.

I've been enjoying romping over people as Goldberg.

Pretty fun game but I sometimes nitpick with the worst of them.

I think there is an option for the video, but I didn't try - I assume "special effects: on / off" refers to the filter, as I can think of no other effects that are special. Speaking of the pause menu:

Yay: FINALLY telling you what your Finisher AND Signature is and the conditions needed to do it.
Nay: What the hell is an "alternate finisher" and why does the menu not explain this? It was nice to know that Ricky Steamboat has a piledriver finisher, but I could seemingly find no condition where that worked and as such it seemed they used up both finisher slots on diving off the top rope.

As for Warrior, I e-mailed Best Buy and politely informed them that I am aware this is a near universal issue so "please add my name to the list of people waiting for DLC codes".

I know tinkering with things is on my to-do list but since I'm going old school and not using my "unlock all" button, I'm waiting on it.

Good call on the Special Effects option. I saw that before I actually played the game and then forgot about it. I'll have to give it a whirl tonight.

Unfortunately the special effects toggle in visual presentation doesn't effect the static effect in arenas. It's hard-coded into the arena when it's created so there's no way to turn it off. Luckily you have the option to toggle it when you're creating your own arenas, at least.

Special effects is basically just the weird shit that the screen does when you hit signatures, finishers and submissions, etc.

If it's in the same position as the normal finisher it is direction plus finisher button. Otherwise it's just the finisher button in whatever position you need to be in. Venk is this your first game, I thought you played these every year?

That's what I'm saying though, they list finisher / finisher+direction / alternate finisher. I tried moving the stick and pressing the button and nothing happened (and normally for completely different positions, that isn't even necessary).

I feel like I'm playing at the Mania 1 arena, I want it to look like a 30 year old TV broadcast. That was kind of the charm in using The Shield there, to me anyway.
