Their big hook early on was promising a game before they existed, so I expect some measure of delivery. I either want to be impressed or laugh really hard.

Well, they did get the director of No Mercy. So that's something. Looks terrible, though.

That little clip of the Yukes gameplay was, uhhhhh... yeah. Nothing says "alternative to WWE" like using companies whose best known works were with WWE and a graphic design that looks close to the latest WWE game.

I just picked up Wrestling Empire on Switch. It’s something else. Huge roster fake names. Clearly going for an N64 era feel. I’ve only done an exhibition match so far but liked it enough. On sale for $14.99.

EA doing to the madden franchise what 2K did to the WWE franchise doesn't give me much hope.

Just watched an AEW Games Twitch stream with a full match from Fight Forever, and woo baby, if you liked No Mercy, WCW/NWO Revenge, etc, this really might be the one.

I'm not going to pretend a good number of these ratings didn't make me do the Bull Shannon head slap, and screams of jibberish like Curly.

JBL and Macho Man have the same rating!?
Andre isn't even in the 90s. Mutha fucker was unbeaten (Kayfabe!!) for 15 years!!!!
Nicki Bella is a 90!
Jim Neidhart is ahead of Piper?
Cactus Jack barely squeaks by DOINK!?!!

I have the entire Legends of Wrestling video game series for my PS3. They're PS2 games, but my PS3 console has backwards playback and can play PS1, PS2, & PS3 games. I've been headlining arenas, gyms and other venues with Bret "The Hitman" Hart vs. "Latino Heat" Eddie Guerrero and they've been exchanging victories in each place they've been wrestling in. I'm also playing Bret Hart in the career modes and my favorite storyline is in LOW 2 where the promoter in the Northwest Region tells Bret that his daughter has a "crush" on The Hitman.

Sound familiar?

Anyone playing Fight Forever yet? Wide release is tomorrow, but the Elite edition has an early release today. I did the early download so I should be ready to go after work later. Can’t wait to give it a run.

It's getting some real mediocre reviews, but they're almost all about how the graphics aren't as sharp as the WWE 2K series and how the gameplay is a little too much like No Mercy.

I'll see how people like it after the wide release tomorrow before I plunk money down on it.

It’s fun. The core gameplay is pretty much exactly what I was looking for. Definitely room to grow, though. Even with 50+ wrestlers, there are a lot of notable names missing, not to mention sets, match types, and attires.

I’ll be curious to see how the add-on packs work. How many/which wrestlers are included, how frequently they are released, cost, etc.

I had it pre-ordered cause I had a 20$ BB cert, but I cancelled it this morning. From what I've seen and read it just looks too barebones right now especially the creation stuff and story modes. and even match types .

I'll wait to see if they add anything to it in the next few months to make it worth my $$$$.

It’s fun but it should be half the price. It feels like an unfinished product. But again, it’s fun.

Got the Elite version, got to play a little bit last night, liked it so far. I noticed there's a ton of announceable names, so if you wanted to create say, Mitsuharu Misawa, the game will say the name.

Started a RTE w/ Danielson, made it to the final 3 in the Casino Battle Royal, eliminated like 10 people, only to get dumped by Chuck Taylor.

Also lol at 1 of the minigames being "imitate Penta as he spams a bunch of taunts".

I played that after Royal Rumble. I wanted Rumble again bad but the local video store had Super Wrestlemania and I rented it a million times (that, Contra 3, and Maximum Carnage were the repeats) because while it wasn't as good, it had Hogan, and I was Hulkamania as fuck and wanted to be the Mega Powers all the time. Ended up being able to buy it because I rented it all the time too.

I think I like it better than Raw but nowhere near as much as Rumble

AEW Fight Forever is free for PS+ subscribers in June. Perfect timing, too, as I've seen posts saying that retailers were clearancing the game for $5 and was going to look for a copy.

Also, I've been playing Modern Mania Wrestling, a mobile card/booking game, and once you get past the learning curve it's really fun. A bit unbalanced in that it clearly favors rival promotions that have more money and put on worse shows, but it's not too bad for a F2P mobile game.

Well, after tinkering around a little this morning? I can see why people don't like Fight Forever, because the general consensus that it's a good jumping off point for a very good wrestling game is accurate.

The graphics are cartoonish and moves feel like they have little to no impact. The gameplay itself is just off, with double the striking options as there are grapple options, and we end up with something that closer resembles the GameCube WWE games than it does the AKI system that was touted as the inspiration. The CAW experience isn't terrible...but it's not even on par with the N64 games.

It's not terrible, and if this was released 20 years ago it'd be something that would get a good bit of praise, but it encapsulates AEW in that it fails to live up to promises made.
