Why didn't Vince ever pick Swenson up? He was practically genetically engineered to be a Hogan buddy/rival.

He was wretched. But he fit the bill. A world exists where he became Tugboat.

LeDuc is one of my all time favorites but I don't know if by 1989 he'd have worked. At least five years too late. That and...like, I don't care about the "WWF made this guy into a cartoon!" shit most of the time but the notion of LeDuc being turned into a Bushwhacker-esque lumberjack Hogan lackey is too far.

Didn't LeDuc get pinned by Tito in his brief 89 run? If you are losing to Tito post 86 you are going nowhere

Oh I meant more in the Jeep Swenson heel role, not for Tugboat.
Swenson as Tugboat might be do able, but he likely lacked the personality.

The Wrestling Memory Grenade pod was reading Meltz WM 3 era notes on this week's pod.
Dave being Dave felt that Hogan vs Andre should have gone on 10th, followed by Piper/Adonis and then Steamboat/Savage "to send the crowd home hot". Yes, because the biggest star in the sport smashing an undefeated Giant didn't get over.

Dibiase had a handshake deal with JCP for 250K a year, plus he was going to be allowed to do Japan tours.
Ted instead chose to go to the WWF for no guarantee and no Japan dates.
One would think he'd be among those who had their contracts default and he'd be in the WWF by Summerslam 88 anyway.
There's no quick and easy answer for who gets the Dibiase spot. Rude and Hennig were both not established as top guys in early 87. Bockwinkel is too old. Chris Adams is too small to work Hogan in any manner.

Random work thought of the day: I wonder if Rotunda(o) and Spivey would have been pushed more if Mike hadn't quit shortly after Windham did? A spite push isn't out of the question IMO. Mike left and worked for the AWA and others for bit, but wound up back in the WWF for another year or so.

Spivey was wasted. Should've been pushed hard and been the next Dr. D

Years ago when I saw his results went all the way to WM 4 era I was just stunned. I have zero remembrance of him outside of the Express during his WWF run.
Spivey's big moments are being a body in the WM 2 battle royal (was his football background mentioned given the gimmick of the match???) and he's one of the faces who rushes in to haul off Hogan's corpse after Mr Wonderful turns on the Hulk.

I'm curious what WM 3's tag match was going to be if the plan was for Sheik/Volkoff to beat the Bulldogs in January instead of the Harts? Davis could still do the screw job there, but sign with Jimmy Hart anyway to set up the six man, but does that mean the move was to hot shot the Can Ams to the top at Mania 3?
Given the timing, Hacksaw Duggan would not have been signed yet when the booking was being penciled in, so Sheik and Volkoff are still "free" to do whatever as of Dec/early Jan 87.

This is the coolest looking WWF arena of the 80s. The French: I like the way they think.

I remember being a HUGE Hogan mark back in that era. But I also loved the rivalry between the Original Hart Foundation and the British Bulldogs. Their tag team matches really made me think of the great matches with Ric Flair and Ricky Steamboat. There was some awesome chemistry there.
