Fuji turning on Yokozuna to align with Vader seems so obvious that I am kind of mad that we didn’t get it.

But I am also glad we got a short glimpse of happy babyface Fuji.

Fuji and Cornette were a great pairing, too. Cornette's run as the American spokesman is criminally overlooked when it comes to his career, too.

Fuji though. The vignettes with Muraco and the Wrestlemania 5 race in the tux make him a legend. Dude managed some great guys.

I would have been a very happy 5 year old had I gotten a chance to go to this, but WOOF, what a line up.
Any resemblance between the ad and the actual card appears to be purely coincidental.

WWF @ Green Bay, WI - Brown County Arena - August 6, 1987
Outback Jack pinned Frenchy Martin (sub. for Sika)
Rick Martel vs. Tama
Davey Boy Smith & Scott Casey (sub. for B. Brian Blair & Jim Brunzell) defeated Don Muraco & Bob Orton Jr.
King Harley Race pinned Jerry Allen
Dino Bravo pinned Brutus Beefcake
The Junkyard Dog defeated Killer Khan via disqualification
Superstar Billy Graham (sub. for Ken Patera) pinned Hercules (w/ Bobby Heenan)

His roster blew up after WM 3. He had Demolition, Muraco and Orton, but then added Kamala, Sika and Killer Khan. I kind of doubt there exists a Fuji family promo with everyone.

Johnny V really leaned into the cartoon stuff. At least one of his matches with Beefer that made tape saw him sell the sleeper like he was an actual Looney Toon. doing very over the top facials for his snoring.
--
I always found it odd that people doing sleepers were expected to "wake up" their opponents. If its a blood choke, he'll come to anyway, and it's not like they are in extended danger once the hold is released.

If you watch Adonis' one post Mania TV match, Jesse goes hard in defense of his old partner, Adonis works Milkman Milliman, an old AWA jobber foe and Ventura's comedy angle tag partner there too IIRC.

Most of the Fuji is a terrible manager stuff stems from era between PoP ending and Yokozuna debuting but tbh, the Berzerker stuff is entertaining too.

Fuji just couldn't cut promos, but I don't know that he really needed to. Evil looking guy with a tux and a cane to bash people with. Easy.

I want to know how they decided to pair a viking and a devious Japanese stereotype, though.

I kind of love that they ran Australia with a USA vs Russia feud on top.

Ron Bass debuted within a match insert promo about Mulligan. A week later he debuted on TV vs Mulligan while teaming with jobbers.

How very Koko B Ware of him.

Danny Spivey, Mike Rotundo, & Blackjack Mulligan defeated Ron Bass, Jimmy Jack Funk, & the Gladiator when Mulligan pinned the Gladiator with a flying back elbow at 3:33

This hit me in the feels.
Really wanted to see Hogan/Warrior vs Taker/Sarge/Adnan. (Pretty sure PWI had Hogan/Warrior vs Sarge/Taker as their "Vegas favorite" to be the Summerslam main event.
I'm pretty sure Warlord/Neidhart was high on the excitement list. HOSSES! I was a brain washed 9 year old.

The Dibiase and Haku vs Kabuki and Ishikawa match sounds like a lot of fun.

I didn't know the WWF actually put out the Quake/Kitao match.

They didn’t. I have that tape somewhere and neither of those matches are on it.

The Duggan/Kendo match was a weird pick, especially since Duggan lost.

I'd have been very cool with that being the finish for a big guy. Like you get Hall to teach Gonzalez how to do a proper abdominal stretch, you give him a positive memory.

Who knows what would have played different w/ Tyson, but even as an 7 1/2 year old I knew Tyson was this mythical beast and was excited to see this Buster Douglas guy who somehow slayed the Dragon.
Having brothers 10 years older than me probably helped put Tyson into my world view as they would have been tracking his career. Plus the whole NES game thing.
This remains one of my favorite SNME/TME.

We need somebody to upload the Hogan teaser commercial with Tyson still promoted. Those stuck with a young dork whose whole world was wrestling. .

That match is one of my all time favorites. First time I remember getting to catch any big show live and being blown away that it was my two favorites at the time. I got so used to promos for Cow Palace shows and squashes and the usual Superstars stuff. One of my favorite memories as a kid. I love that match so much.

I think it kinda worked better with Douglas, just because he's exactly the kind of underdog Hogan would back/leech off of and who Savage would have no problem mocking. Tyson could've killed both of them and anything less would've been just wrong.
