A personal favorite of mine as Mama bought it for me for my 9th birthday at the local IGA. After getting her to buy the next month or 2, she just subscribed me yearly for the next 5-7 years before I paid for my own RAW and WWF subs.
Best moment of all that was in 1996 when the RAW mag came with Sunny in her undies on the cover and my dad freaked out at my mom that "You wouldn't let me buy something like that, but you let him get it in the mail!!"

I was more amused than I should have been listening to GFA Live this week when they were spitballin' why Hillbilly Jim is in the Survivor Series 88 main event. They decided the Red Rooster was not doing his job waking up the farm and Jim had to teach him a lesson.

A lot of Americans don't realize how large, isolated, and mostly rural Australia is. It's not as easily traversable as the US or Europe. It's got a significantly smaller population than Canada (which knows something about being large, isolated, and mostly rural). Doing some internet research, there's less than 20 cities with a population of more than 100k and a lot of them aren't particularly close to each other.
There's not enough people there. They can barely get the A-League off the ground and almost all the teams are in Greater Melbourne and Sydney. My grandma's husband moved there (he lives outside of Geelong) after she died and a big part of the appeal is how isolated you can be so I can see why nobody's tried to launch a big promotion there.

I never noticed that both the Hogan and Warrior Wrestling Buddies have World Titles. Probably as good of an indication that they weren’t anywhere near ready to phase Hogan out in ‘90.

It's super weird that they brought Steamer back to be a JTTS. Like what was the point? Couldn't they have gotten someone that was a reasonable facsimile for that much cheaper? It must've been a power trip cause Steamboat needed a job and Vince wanted to get back at him for leaving suddenly in '88. It didn't really work Steamboat said "Screw it." and left and was still a huge star in WCW. It just made WWF look dumb for using him so poorly.
What I don't get is why Steamboat kept the costume and fire breathing from the stupid '91 WWF run for his second WCW run but hey, like I said he was still a huge star so what the heck.

Vince brought him back because he was a top WCW face for the last couple years and needed to be destroyed. That Steamboat left before is just a bonus.

I don’t think extended hiatuses really led into anticipation the same way in the pre internet era. Plus I think working in indies and George Scott’s shitty start up promotion might have driven down the anticipation levels too.
