At least we got a WrestleMania I rematch out of Steamboat’s time in NAWA.

And the clip of the match starts with the announcers talking about Matt Borne’s paunch. No wonder why he started wrestling in flannel shirts (and eventually bodysuits) soon after.

I just know that, as a kid, seeing him come back after leaving as abrupt as he did was special. I loved having him back and wouldn't have thought much about him working more considering the workrate was taking the midcard over so much.

I don’t think extended hiatuses really led into anticipation the same way in the pre internet era. Plus I think working in indies and George Scott’s shitty start up promotion might have driven down the anticipation levels too.
The Apters ran an interview in 90 or whatever with Steamboat that was covering him working w/ Tully who was with Christopher Love (Bert Prentice IIRC) and for years afterward I was convinced this was in the AWA for whatever reason. I probably read about Tully's AWA appearance in the same time frame and totally blended them. It wasn't until the proper internet era of 99/2000 that the old timers shamed me on this fact when I was asking around.
TLDR - Mark Brody was all in.
You know how much he probably sank into that god damn costume? His wife was bleeding him dry and you try pawning a dragon suit! He was getting his monies worth.
His Power Hour return didn't show the COTC clips to build him up. The show intro was Michael Hayes on a go cart, who then sent us to the ring to see a "fire breathing dragon". Then we got the full costume/fire intro with JR or Tony covering the recent angle verbally.

In fairness no one in the WWF was attractive until Steamboat came in so maybe there's just a "best of a bad batch" thing. Besides Italians-as-Native Americans seems very fetishable.

But I love that King gets it. One of my favorite celebrity fans if only because he actually gets it.

On the latest episode of John Arezzi’s show, they talked about how Big John Studd had a late night syndicated radio show where he covered pro wrestling news in the early ‘90s. Except he was so busy filming movies that he didn’t have time to watch the current product so a producer had to feed him recaps of what was going on in WWF and WCW.

That sounds like nightmare/@BruiserBrody’s dream radio.

Studd isn’t the orator that Cornette is. Not that he was a horrible promo but I feel like him doing third hand recollections of what happened on PTW and Saturday Night could be a natural sedative.

Outside of the fact Studd actually had other stuff to do, isn't that what Cornette does?
Corny watches everything he reviews unless it's a woman's match. His reviewing are LONG and too detailed. Sometimes move for move, And he hates 90 percent of it. And still talks about it for hours and hours each week.

Bix over at Wrestling Classics:
Mel Phillips' death did allow FOIA requests that showed that the FBI and WWE both had copies of a video tape that showed him, in the ring before a show, molesting a boy the same way that most of his victims who talked said he did. The FBI disregarded it for stupid reasons.

I don't recall any angle to set up a Rockers/Demos feud. Rockers spend Dec/Jan rotating between Power and Glory, Orient Express and the Demos.
Looking around thehistoryofwwe didn't give me any answer.
I wonder if the Rockers/Demos were penciled in for WM 7 before the SWS guys needed cannon fodder?

Was there a bigger drop off in theme music than the Demos going from HERE COMES THE AX AND HERE COMES THE SMASHER to the most generic ominous heel music ever?

It’s staggering how quickly Demolition dropped off but LoD’s first WWF run also kind of sucked. Maybe WWF just forgot how to book power and paint gimmicks sometime in ‘91. Even Warrior was in decline after he won the World Title (interrupted by a sharp resurgence during the Macho Man feud).

Dear @BruiserBrody and/or Jim Cornette,

Do you know why Corporal Kirchner had a LOWER ranking than Sgt. Slaughter. Was that his actual military ranking he didn't want to commit stolen valor like his predecessor? Otherwise, it seems absolutely foolish.

Your pal,
Kamala

He was an everyman grunt Rambo type. Sarge was a sadistic leader of men. Plus what Kotz said

Bundy is an unsung big man. So much fun and had no business being as mobile as he was for a guy built like him. Not Blackwell mobile but dude was build like a building and still could move. Shaving his eyebrows held him back, I think. Like his facial expressions were always fun but without eyebrows he looked like a girthy sleepy penis.

How would it have worked for someone to get eliminated from the Rumble via count out? You have ten seconds to get back into the ring if you slide out of the bottom or second rope?
