I feel like Hennig has become so overrated at this point that he is almost at the point where he will be underrated again.

I blame early IWC nerds who thought he should have beat Hogan for the title at WrestleMania VI instead of Warrior.

Was just thinking about this the other day. He should not have beat Hogan but say had he stuck around in 94 he could have been as good an option as any to trade reigns with Bret. Maybe he is a bit overrated by some but there were absolutely situations where you could have put the belt on him

Re: Hercules

I still maintain that 1988-89 Herc was underrated, but I can’t think of a guy who screamed “pin me, pay me” harder than post-P&G Hercules, aside from Ax at Survivor Series 1990

I never got the sense that Perfect had the same drive as Bret Hart or HBK. Once he had the back injury, he was understandably cautious and never the same worker outside of a small handful of matches.

I wonder if his career would be more fondly remembered if he never came back from his first retirement in ‘91. Is there anything worth watching from after his second retirement? I guess that’s more of a question for the WCW thread.

Hennig was great in 1993 and anyone who says otherwise hasn't watched a lot of non-PPV stuff. His last viable chance as a headliner was probably third-best Wrestlemania opponent for Bret and it would've worked well enough. His overrated repulation is 100% because of Lloyds and his years off giving "what if" options, followed right into a weird forgiveness he got for his WCW work compared to everyone else.

Better than Dibiase's attempt to look younger in 1993.

One on one probably draws a heck of a buyrate but I'm struggling to think how the match would lay out.
He's giving up nearly a foot to Hulk, and getting the heat would be hard since he can't realistically throw combos without Hogan going to sleep.
A tag team match probably works best so a heel can cheat constantly to keep Tyson at bay.

@Brusier Brody: At the time in the Observer Big Dave said if they had a Tyson vs Hulk match at Wrestlemainia VI what would happen was Tyson and Hogan would "wrestle" for a bit then 3 heels, Perfect,Dibiase, and Randy Savage would charge down to the ring and go after Hulk and Tyson and both baby faces would clean house on the three heels, shake hands and hug and send the fans home happy at the end of the show.

So Dave booked the Rumble 95 world title match finish. The more you know....

It feels sorta nice that one of the oldest old school guys got to pretty much have the best ending. Glad it's Chico, too.

Yeah he did alright for himself after wrestling but during his jobber years 90-93 he got a rat pregnant and had a child out of wedlock a daughter who wrestles on the indie scenes Jenny Santana. Chico says he never heard about fathering a daughter until years later he did a DNA test and he is actually her father. Hanibal TV has done a bunch of shoots with Jenny over the last few years.

And I almost made a post about how no one had any bad stories about Tito. Arriba!

(Although if she was really that angry about him for abandoning her, why did she join her father’s profession and adopt his gimmick surname?)

He just always really did look like the dumpy old Italian guy he was. It's impressive how big a star he was.

Now Billy White Wolf, that guy didn't look like an Iraqi general in feathers at all.

I believe in a recent Strongbow vs Graham match I watched that announcer Vince said Strongbow was 40 percent Indian blood. So they at least tried to justify it.

So it came up on the last Q&A episode of McAdam’s podcast but both the new Vince McMahon biography and apparently the Behind the Bastards season on Vince claim that Andre The Giant was essentially forced to turn heel in ‘87 (which Billy Crystal verifies).

John McAdam cried foul at this idea and I agree with him. I really just find it hard to believe that anybody, even Vince, could force Andre The Giant to do anything.

I'm sure he was really hesitant until the dollar signs came up and the idea of extending his career. It's probably exactly like Hogan's turn.
