The Weeknd - Wicked Games

Righteous.

Apparently this kind of music is really trendy right now. What the fuck do I know, I live in Missouri. Even our hippest hipsters here only listen to stuff like Bon Iver and other dorm room date rape-y bullshit.

The best way to motivate yourself to listen to new music is to do more drugs, burn our your brain's pleasure center, and constantly require new stimulation, BTW. Not that you college boys would know anything about that.

Hm, you know, I think you might be able to tack the decline in my new music consumption to an uptick in my pornography consumption. Your theory about the need for new stimulation may hold water. Maybe I should go back to listening to new music?

I don't care enough anymore to do anything but keep up with bands I like and get stuff that everyone says I need to get. My lack of interest in gathering new music coincides with just listening to jazz and classical on the radio.

So I love the Mountain Goats like I love few bands, but I'm dragging my feet on listening to the new one. Every album released since The Sunset Tree has bored me more and more successively.

He's totally right about "High Hawk Season" though. That track is awesome. And seriously, if he's coming through to wherever the fuck you live you should see it, because lately they've been doing awesome full-band stuff with Coronor's Gambit tracks. "Family Happiness" in particular was great.

I saw him live twice last year and he played almost the same damn set both times. A bunch of stuff from that Bible album and a scattering of random songs from the last ten years or so of Mountain Goats albums. He didn't play any Coronor's Gambit material either time. I'd have loved to hear Family Happiness, it's one of my favorites.

If he comes around again, I'm sure I'll catch him. He's still a favorite of mine despite my tentativeness.

And now I recall that one of the times I saw these guys live, Smith was working the merch table. I chatted with him briefly; I'm fairly certain he was high.

Say no to 4/20.

Quickly aborted my (probably misguided) attempt at listening to Fishboy. Why do all male vocalists in indie rock sound like that? There isn't, like, a Lee Hazlewood baritone hiding out somewhere in Williamsburg right now? There's gotta be one in Denton, Texas. Have that buy front Fishboy instead.

I feel like I'm far too young to have already reached the point where all new music is prima facie offensive sounding, so I think I can say with confidence that contemporary indie rock is just straight up objectively horrible garbage.

Kneeeeew you guys would hate it. But everyone hates it. I think I know two other people on the planet who like all this adorable twee shit like me (have you guys made fun of me because I like Tullycraft yet? I feel like that may have happened. Maybe it was the Smittens) but whatever, the last thirty seconds of "Alberto Simmons" is so awesome.

The Hipster Community needs to band together and declare an end to "twee" much like blacks did with "bling bling."

Does anyone know if Subpop includes a digital download code with their vinyl? I ordered the new Fleet Foxes but am worried that it doesn't include both formats.

I think they do include it with the vinyl orders.

Album didn't grab me on a first listen this morning. The last one grew on me though, so I'll give it more chances.

Aaron Lewis' vocals never seemed to "suit" the hard rock of Staind. Every time I heard a Staind song I would wonder why the singer wasn't doing a solo songwriter act instead.

I hate to use the word "soft" but that's how his vocals always struck me as. See his hits such as "For You" and "It's Been A While."
