Living In Reality: 1/30/14

It’s finally time for the exes to descend upon the Real World house! But first, there were still some last-minute dramas to sift through.

Sexually Frustrated

Everyone was wound pretty tightly because they were avoiding sex for one reason or another. Jamie promised her parents she wouldn’t have sex on TV, while Thomas still wanted to play the gentleman. Cory and Jenny had their drama, so they wanted to keep their distance for a bit. Arielle and her ex Ashley (who was sort of temporarily replacing the old Ashley) were willing and ready, but the fact that they weren’t together anymore complicated things.

Arielle decided set up an erotic dinner for the roommates to attend. Her intent was to get the sexual juices flowing in the house, so to speak. No, there wasn’t a naked female on a table covered with strategically-placed leaves and sushi. But there were barely-dressed women and men available to caress and massage the housemates. There was a particularly amusing moment when Jay was getting massaged by a guy without him realizing it.

Back at the house, everyone got it in (except poor Jay). It was funny because everyone had a reason to not have sex, but went ahead with it anyways. Thomas finally succumbed to his male instincts. Cory and Jenny decided to tack on the “with benefits” tag to their friendship. Arielle came to realize that she may have made a big mistake by breaking up with Ashley.

Tension

The roommates had quite a few tense moments in this episode amongst themselves, but also with some of their exes.

As mentioned before, Jay wasn’t getting any action. The main reason was because his relationship with his ex Jenna was back on, and he didn’t want to mess that up. He still wanted to have his fun though, so he would still hit on girls at the club and get their numbers. Jenna called Jay later in a pissed-off mood because she saw pictures of him on social media dancing with other girls.

On another night, Jenny saw Jay kiss another girl at a club. At the house, Jay was stressing out about Jenna finding out, so he denied doing anything wrong. He even got a bit heated at the camera people for potentially filming something incriminating that he was saying or doing.

Jamie was about ready to throw down with Thomas after she found out that his ex Hailey sent him an email saying she couldn’t stop thinking about him. Jamie felt that Thomas could’ve done more to get Hailey to back off, while Thomas believed Jamie was overreacting. They eventually made up, however.

Jenny had an unpleasant phone call with her ex Brian. Brian grilled her about having sex with Cory until she finally admitted to it. Brian felt betrayed, especially since it happened not that long after moving into the house.

The Set-Up

The producers informed everyone that they were being sent on a two-day trip to a fancy resort. The roommates were stoked about getting to water ski, lay on the beach, and do other fun activities. But, they also knew something was up, namely, coming home to a new roommate.

Meanwhile, the production crew set up the living quarters for the arriving exes. For the record, we have Arielle’s ex Ashley (whose belongings were simply left in the house), Jay’s ex Jenna, Jenny’s ex Brian, Thomas’ ex Hailey, and Cory’s ex Lauren.

Before the exes came in, original Ashley made her return to pick up her things and leave behind one last confessional message. Jamie was the only housemate without an ex coming to the house, so wouldn’t it have been hilarious for her “frenemy” Ashley to serve as her pseudo-ex? Alas, Ashley was indeed making her permanent departure from the house.

The exes arrived one-by-one, each with the initial impression that he or she was simply there to replace Ashley. As more gathered, they figured out the exes pattern. For many of the new roommates, they expressed their desires to win back their exes.

Soon, the original roommates came back, only to have their jaws drop in shock as their exes surprised them. As legendary wrestling announcer Jim Ross would say; business is about to pick up. To be continued…
