This is NXT 9/4/14

Taped at Full Sail University. Renee Young, Tom Phillips and Byron Saxton are your commentators

Alexa Bliss vs. Charlotte (non-title)

They fight over a headlock and Bliss shows some decent speed, but Charlotte gradually cuts her down and Bow Down to the Queen ends it. Bayley! heads out afterward and wants Charlotte to take her seriously because at Takeover, she will seriously take her title. Bayley offers a handshake again, but Charlotte piefaces her and attacks and gets Bayley to Bellied for her trouble.

Tyler Breeze runs down his opponents for the title match. He’s in action next.

Oh shit, KENTA debuts at Takeover!

Sin Cara and Kalisto cut a promo about their match tonight and The Ascension. Cara speaks in Spanish while Kalisto translates, but Cara switches to English for the final word. OK, that’s cute.

Tye Dillinger vs. Tyler Breeze

Dillinger controls to start but Breeze comes back and stomps him in the corner. Is Dillinger a heel? Kind of a weird dynamic to this match. He charges right into the Beauty Shot for the pin.

#DirtbagTysonKidd cuts an awesome promo seemingly putting over all of his opponents, but he’s really just talking about himself. This guy is on a career Renaissance right now.

Enzo Amore cuts a promo at a hair salon where they are getting some special hair removal cream from Not Jennifer Lopez. It ends up being spilled on a dog and you can guess what happens. Stupid comedy saved by the fact that Amore and BIG CASS are hilarious together.

Adam Rose vs. #DirtbagTysonKidd

A rematch from their surprisingly good match a month ago. Rose is growing a beard and starting to look a little dirtbag-y himself. Rose controls to start but Kidd delivers a few kicks to the head and takes over. Super basic match leads to Kidd dropkicking him in the knee and locking in the Sharpshooter for the tap.

Sami Zayn is OK with pinning whoever he has to, but Adrian Neville is the champ so it would mean a little more to pin him.

The Vaudevillians vow to show that they are the superior team tonight. EXCELSIOR!

Sami Zayn vs. Marcus Louis (w/Sylvester LaFort)

The crowd is on top of things, chanting for Canada. Because Zayn isn’t American either, you see. Basically the same format as all of the other matches tonight, the star gets beat up for a little bit and makes the comeback, this time it ends with the Koji Clutch for the tap. It’d be nice if they mixed up this format a little bit. Amore and Cass attack the heels afterward to put heat on that match.

Adrian Neville rounds out the promos, saying he chose this match because he likes to take risks and wants a challenge.

Adrian Neville vs. CJ Parker (non-title}

At least CJ’s sign is spelled correctly this time. I wish this was just Neville flying around the ring beating the shit out of Parker but he has to get some offense in as well. Fortunately it’s brief and the asskicking continues with the Red Arrow getting the pin.

The Vaudevillians vs Sin Cara and Kalisto (Tag Team #1 Contenders Tournament Finals)

Kalisto and English wrestle to a stalemate to start but Team Lucha takes control with some nice double teams. Gotch avoids a charge and dropkicks Cara to the outside to take control. Cara hits a crossbody to escape and tags Kalisto who sloppily ranas Gotch while Cara dives on English. Salida del Sol on Gotch leads to a senton from Cara and the Ascension has their opponents for Takeover. They have a stare down with Team Lucha as we fade out.

Final Thoughts: Effective go-home show as all of the main matches got attention and I am pretty excited to see how it all turns out. Not much to talk about in ring, but the four way promos were good and it’s nice to see a women’s feud that doesn’t feel like it belongs on Springer.

Wait, he’s gonna be on RAW soon? Ugh.

I’ll probably have the Takeover recap on Friday, so see you then.
