WWE NXT – 7/24/2013

WWE NXT – 07/24/2013

The Women’s Championship is shown and we get a video package of Paige and Emma making their way to the finals.  Both women speak about their experience and we get one of the nicest hype packages for a Divas match that I can remember in a long time.

The crowd at Full Sail chants NXT as we are back to the Tom Phillips/Brad Maddox announce team, hyping Sheamus in the main event and the Women’s Championship Finals.

Emma is out first, once again getting the crowd dancing.  She beat Aksana and the amazing Summer Rae to shock the world and make the finals.

Paige is out next.  Paige’s road to the finals included beating Tamina Snuka and Alicia Fox.

The referee holds the title as Byron Saxton delivers the in-ring introductions for the bout.

Final for the First-Ever NXT Women’s Champion

Emma vs. Paige

We hear about the international flavor in this match, as the first champion will either be Australian or English.

The two fan favorites lock up and we get dueling “Let’s Go Emma” and “Let’s Go Paige” chants.

Paige seems to get the first advantage of the match and makes a quick pin.  She goes for a slam on Emma but Emma escapes. After an elbow, she gets an unsuccessful pin of her own.

Emma hits some weak moves and goes for pins, utilizing the size advantage that she has on Paige.

The two go back and forth with trying to get a backslide but Emma tries to secure the DilEMMA in the ropes.

Paige is able to shake off Emma, and Paige is down in the ring and Emma down on the outside as we reach a commercial break.

Back from break, Paige is in control with a chinlock on Emma.  The two continue to struggle and Paige nails a fisherman’s suplex.  Phillips wants to call it a Perfect Plex as Maddox corrects him it is a FisherWOMAN’s suplex.

Paige tries to keep control and keep Emma grounded.  As Emma gets up, she throws Paige in the corner and pulls her by the hair to the ground.

She angrily does her dance before doing a crossbody splash in the corner for two.

Emma showing the most emotion she maybe ever has shown in a match to date.

Emma tries wearing down Paige with a submission as Phillips puts over how much it took for these two to make the finals.  He points out former WWE Divas champions did not make it to the point these women did.

Paige tries to escape but Emma downs her with an elbow to the face.

Emma locks up Paige around the waist and Maddox questions why Paige chased Summer Rae away from the beatdown she gave Emma after their match two weeks ago.

Paige starts raging out and fights her way out of Emma’s hold.  Paige wraps up Emma with a modified Cloverleaf and Emma looks to be in extreme pain.  She is nowhere near the ropes but struggles, as she doesn’t want to tap.

Emma works her way out and rolls up Paige.  Two count.

Emma takes out Paige’s legs and tries for some unidentifiable submission as Paige escapes.  Paige pulls Emma to the ropes and starts delivering a headbutt and some knees.

Maddox questions the last time you saw women headbutting each other and how significant this title is to Paige.

Paige ascends the top but Emma stops her and nails a superplex as the crowd goes nuts.

Both women are down and in pain.

Both women up, Paige gets the Paige Turner to be the first-ever NXT Women’s Champion.

Winner and new NXT Women’s Champion: Paige

Paige, on the verge of tears, clutches the championship.  A hard fought battle leads a parade of Divas out to the ring, which features Rosa Mendes, Charlotte, Alicia Fox, Sasha Banks and Bayley (who is almost dressed and acting like an adult).

As the Divas are celebrating in the ring, the music of HHH hits.  Oh man, he’s gonna Pedigree like 7 Divas and name himself the first NXT Women’s Champion!

HHH just comes in the ring clapping and holds up Paige’s arm.  She is crying now.

We are told Tyler Breeze will make his debut next, we get a match graphic for Sheamus vs. Luke Harper.

A video message from Zeb Colter and Antonio Cesaro.  Awesome promo.  Oh man, I wish the video was online for this.  Colter cuts a promo on Sami referencing El Generico and threatening how Antonio will destroy him.  They advertise the WeThePeopleZeb YouTube channel but it is not there.  Dang.

Angelo Dawkins is in the ring.  He’s from Cincinnati.  That’s all you get to know watching the show.  If you go to his Twitter, you find out he drinks Shaq Soda.

Oh man, Tyler Breeze comes out and his entrance gives me a Derek Zoolander vibe.  This has to be good.  He has a Seasonal Residence and is probably the lovechild of Rick Martel and Dolph Ziggler.  Not bad.

Those who have followed WWE’s developmental, Breeze is formerly known as Mike Dalton but seems like they are going to have fun with this new gimmick.

Angelo Dawkins vs. Tyler Breeze

Dalton is busy taking pictures of himself on his iPhone while the announcers debate his furry boots.

Dawkins gets anxious to start the match and the ref sends him to his corner as the self photoshoot continues.

The official finally lets the bell ring after a while but Tyler says he has more photos.

Angelo eventually charges in but Breeze lays out the much bigger Dawkins.  Breeze is unrelenting with some kicks, which Maddox describes as the male model fury.

Spinning heel kick closes out the match.

Winner: Tyler Breeze

The replays include some of Dawkins self-posing.  I can tell I will greatly enjoy Tyler Breeze.

The Ascension airs a promo.  I think it is the same one as last week.

The Ascension music hits with a darkened arena.  O’Brian and Victor stand at the entry way.  It will be a tag match this week.

Some generic music hits and Mickey Keegan and Aiden English get an entrance for some reason.  I have a feeling that the time it took them to get the ring will be longer than the match.

English looks a little hesitant to start.  He has an interesting look in the sense of I wouldn’t mind seeing him be a modern day European Brooklyn Brawler in a bowler cap.

Conor O’Brian & Rick Victor vs. Aiden English & Mickey Keegan

O’Brian and Victor takes turns dismantling English.  Double team moves, big splash by O’Brian.

Victory tagged in who dismantles Keegan on the apron.  Hits a crazy move on English, tags in O’Brian to deliver more pain.

We hear English is a classically trained actor and the Ascension somewhat stalls in hitting some power moves before finally making a pin.

Winner: Conor O’Brian & Rick Victor

Both men yell at the camera as we get a graphic for Sheamus vs. Harper in tonight’s main event.

Hype graphic for Bo Dallas/Sami Zayn vs. Leo Kruger/Antonio Cesaro next week.

Sheamus makes his way ringside.

The Wyatts come out in full force.

Sheamus vs. Luke Harper

The former WWE Champion takes some early control but Harper shows zero intimidation and actually takes Sheamus off his feet.

Maddox talks about his experience kicking Sheamus in the chest before Sheamus “narrowly” beat him.

Sheamus starts to control as Harper goes outside to stall.  Wyatt starts whispering in his ear as the ref holds back Sheamus.

Back in the ring, Sheamus starts throwing some stiff punches and takes down Harper with a nasty clothesline.  Sheamus starts choking Harper with his knee and Wyatt is out of his chair looking on.

Harper continues to go toe to toe with the Celtic Warrior, although Sheamus maintains full control.  Sheamus does his tie up and clobber Harper.  When Rowan tries to get involved, he throws Harper and gives Rowan a full set of his own.

This allows Harper the time to give Sheamus a nasty clothesline.  As the ref pulls him back, Rowan knocks out Sheamus on the outside, just in time for the final commercial break of the program.

Both men are back in the ring but Harper is controlling the Great White.  Harper starts standing on the head of Sheamus as the ref chases him off.  As the ref separates Harper, Rowan lays a big blow to Sheamus.

Maddox points out that Sheamus is outnumbered three to one and Wyatt rocks slowly while watching.  Harper chokes Sheamus doing his YEAH YEAH YEAH shouts.

Sheamus starts trying to rally and makes his way to his feet.  Harper throws a punch but Sheamus meets him.  Harper runs the ropes and Sheamus is able to slam Luke to turn the tide.

Both men get up at the same time and exchange some heavy hitting punches.  Sheamus eventually starts knocking down Harper with some double fists, a tackle and a knee to face.  Harper goes up for the White Noise but Harper counters and nails his own sideslam.

Sheamus is able to kick out at two.

Harper starts punching Sheamus and nonchalantly walks on the Great White.  He goes to the second rope and misses. Sheamus hits his senton roll for a two count.

Sheamus heads to the top rope and Harper goes to stop him.  Sheamus dives off the top over him, misses a Brogue Kick and gets hit with a  big rolling clothesline.  Kickout by the Celtic Warrior!

Phillips mentions how many Superstars have fallen to that clothesline but the former World Heavyweight Champion kicks out.

Harper with an avalanche splash in the corner and he stands proud over Sheamus once more.

One more charge but Sheamus delivers a boot to the face.  Rowan tries to get involved but Sheamus throws Harper into him and catches Harper back to give Luke the White Noise.

Wyatt looks on as Sheamus starts pounding his chest signaling the Brogue Kick.

Sheamus nails the kick and wins the match.

Winner: Sheamus

As Sheamus wins, Bray Wyatt just laughs uncontrollably.  He comes and applauds Sheamus.  Wyatt and Rowan stand there while Sheamus looks concerned.

The Wyatt Family collect Harper as Sheamus tries to figure out what the Wyatt Family is thinking, before celebrating some more to close the show.
