WWE NXT – September 4th, 2013

WWE NXT – 09/04/2013

The crowd at Full Sail University chants “NXT” as Bayley’s music hits for what Todd Phillips tells us will be tag team action.

The daughter of the Nature Boy, Charlotte, comes out to high five Bayley.

Alicia Fox comes out and even though she is the heel, there is no way I can boo her.

Aksana is out next to have two main roster Divas against the NXT pair.

Bayley & Charlotte vs. Alicia Fox & Aksana

Bayley and Aksana start off as Charlotte riles the crowd against Aksana.  As Bayley shows excitement being in the ring with Aksana, A-Ry points out Bayley can’t be starstruck, or she will fail.  Maybe it is just because she is across the ring from Aksana…

Aksana takes quick advantage, dropping Bayley and trying to make some fast covers.  She brings Bayley to her team’s corner and brings in Alicia Fox, who nails a big dropkick for a near fall.

Alicia Fox busts out a Northern Lights Suplex.  The announcers are focused on comparing Alicia Fox to track stars as the main roster girls make quick tags to isolate Bayley.

Aksana chokes Bayley in the corner with a boot but as the ref pulls her away, Bayley has managed to refresh enough to surprise Aksana with a hug, followed by a belly to belly.

Tag to Charlotte, who shows off her gymnastic athleticism.  Alicia in and the athletic exchange between these Divas could get interesting.

The two sway back and forth until Charlotte has Fox on her shoulders and Bayley tags herself in, to the dismay of Charlotte.

Bayley has a couple exchanges with Fox before a quick roll-up by Bayley for the surprise victory.

Winners: Bayley & Charlotte

Dawson and Lefort are talking backstage when it pans over to reveal Lefort’s newest client, Alexander Rusev.  They discuss Rusev having a match tonight with Mason Ryan and Rusev pulls out the board with MASON on it.  He breaks it and Lefort says they will win and celebrate at Sizzler.  That line is making me suddenly like Lefort.  I hope he watched White Men Can’t Jump.  We Going Sizzler.

The Ascension come out.  Rick Victor, who will be in solo action, is still carrying around the tag team championship title of Corey Graves.

The music of Corey Graves hits.  He appears on the ramp with his ribs taped and his tag team partner, Adrian Neville, in tow.

Rick Victor vs. Corey Graves

Graves dives on Victor as soon as the bell rings.  Riley points out how elusive titles are and that it must be killing Graves to finally get a championship and have Victor carrying it around.

O’Brian scouts the match as Graves takes control over Victor, hitting him with an elbow for a one count.

Graves works the left leg of Victor before moving to the neck.  Victor uses his strength to turn the momentum and get Graves in the corner before focusing on the injured ribs of Corey.

Victor delivers some firm chops to Corey before Graves fights back and nails a suplex.  The Filth Parade leader starts throwing fists and Irish whips Victor.  A quick reversal only leads to Graves going for a crossbody, which hurts his own taped ribs.

Victor starts slowing down the pace again.  As he smacks around the tag champion, Graves hits a nice variation enziguri.  Victor back up and he tosses Graves to the outside as a commercial break hits.

Back from commercial, Victor is hammering away on Corey in the corner before ripping the tape off of the ribs.  He gets Corey up and starts hitting a flurry of chops and punches in the corner.  He lifts Corey up to his shoulder and drops the injured ribs right on his knees.  Victor is only able to turn that into a two count.

Rick Victor grinds Graves into the canvas.  Victor puts Graves in a submission hold which makes him stare directly at Conor O’Brian taunting him with his stolen championship.

Victor locks Graves up in the center of the ring and Corey struggles to stay conscious.  Victor, seemingly tired of the submission, switches to work on the ribs again.  Graves slides free and rallies a bit throwing some fists and knees before hitting a vicious clothesline.

Graves signals at the knee of Victor when O’Brian tries to get involved.  Neville takes out Conor but Victor sees an opening and gets Corey up on his shoulder.  Corey quickly rolls up Rick and gets the victory.

Winner: Corey Graves

Graves grabs his belt back as The Ascension regroup in the ring.  The tag champs stand with their titles a the top of the ramp.

Sasha Banks is applying her lip gloss when Summer Rae comes into frame and tries to motivate Sasha again.  She tells Sasha how much this match can make her relevant.  Summer tells Sasha that Paige thinks she is better than all of them and she knows Sasha has that inner rage waiting to come out.

Match graphic for tonight’s main event, Sami Zayn versus Jack Swagger with Zeb Colter.

Renee Young is backstage with Paige, who does not look happy.  Renee states this was a regular match coming up with Sasha Banks but now Summer Rae is getting into her head.  Paige states that Sasha is very good but Summer doesn’t know what she is starting.  The Anti-Diva means she isn’t around to be a cover girl, she is there to cover girls in the ring.

Byron Saxton attempts to start an introduction when Sylvester Lefort interrupts.  Lefort and Dawson stand on stage as Rusev is introduced with another MASON board, which he breaks during his intro.

FORGOT BOARD BREAKING, COLOSSUS OF CARDIFF, MASON RYAN.

Alexander Rusev vs. Mason Ryan

Rusev does his Muay-Thai/Sumo stances as Mason Ryan just looks ready to destroy.  We hear Ryan is the strongest man in NXT as the two lock up.

Mason tosses Rusev to a corner but Rusev comes back with some strong strikes as the two try to knock each other a little bit.

Ryan downs Rusev first but Rusev pops up and hits an impressive spinning heel kick for a 300-pounder.

Rusev starts doing some headbutts from standing position to Ryan with great speed and Rusev is probably having the most dominant performance against Ryan I have ever seen.

Rusev takes Mason to the corner. Rusev stalls a bit and tries to dive on Mason, who has enough energy to escape.

Mason takes control as lays Rusev with some nasty punches and then goes for some big clotheslines in the corner.  Ryan nails a big boot and starts getting ready for a big move when Scott Dawson tries to get in the ring.  Ryan takes care of him, which gets Lefort involved.  All these diversions allow Rusev to nail Ryan and then place the Welsh Wizard in the Camel Clutch.

Mason Ryan taps… I… I…

Winner: Alexander Rusev

It appears Lefort’s group is celebrating in the ring through my tears.

Backstage we see Leo Kruger looking down and acting creepy.  The camera eventually pans down to show he is standing above a hurt Xavier Woods, who looks to have been recently attacked.

Sami Zayn makes his way to the ring and the crowd from Full Sail is eating it up, ready for the main event.

Jack Swagger and Zeb Colter make their entrance.

Sami Zayn vs. Jack Swagger

As soon as the bell rings, Zayn is after Swagger.  The Real Americans have been stirring trouble for Zayn who is out for retribution.

Swagger shrugs him off but as he goes for a WE THE PEOPLE, Zayn regains control.

Zayn gets Swagger in the ropes and starts nailing some chops.  Sami makes a quick pin attempt but Jack kicks out as the announcers go over Swagger’s title history.

The crowd goes nuts for Sami.  Swagger goes to the outside and the crowd starts loudly singing “OLE”.

Zayn to the outside, he gets Jack in the ring but gets distracted by Zeb Colter.  As Sami finally gets back in the ring, he is blindsided by the Real American.  Swagger charges Zayn in the corner and stands tall as the final commercial break hits.

Back from break. Sami is fighting back until Jack nails a belly to belly.  Zayn goes out and Swagger pulls him back, looking like he might hit the Orton DDT spot from the ropes.  As he pulls Zayn through, Phillips even mentions it looked like he was going to do Randy’s move.

Swagger hits a brutal clothesline before choking Zayn within his five-count.

Swagger ties up Zayn’s arms, applying pressure on the shoulder.  Jack tries to run at Sami, who drops the drops.  He regroups in the ring and as he is the first to his feet, he flies over the ropes onto Swagger on the outside.

Back in the ring, Sami maintains control.  He goes to Jack in the corner, who blocks it but Sami turns it into a rollup.

Jack knocks the wind out of Zayn but he kicks out and the crowd erupts in “Let’s Go Sami” chants.

Zayn hits a huge spinning sitout powerbomb on the much bigger Swagger but only gets a two-count.  Swagger back up, he locks in the Patriot Lock.  Zayn fights free but gets hit with a gutwrench.

Zayn kicks out.

Jack is upset and not sure what to do next, now that Zayn has escaped his primary finishers.  Jack TAKES DOWN THE STRAPS and then applies the Patriot Lock.  Obviously, with no straps, it is much more powerful and Zayn struggles.

He tries to get to the ropes and the crowd goes nuts rooting him there and loses it when he does.

Colter is yelling on the outside as Zayn favors his ankle and Swagger towers above.  Swagger stomps him and goes for the Swagger Bomb but Zayn gets his legs up.  Jack goes to rest in a corner and Zayn hit a huge running boot.

Two-count only!

The two men get to their feet exchanging punches but Sami quickly takes control and lays Swagger out.  As Jack is down on the mat, Zayn points to the top rope and the crowd goes nuts.  He climbs up top but as he sets himself, Swagger is up and hits him.  Jack tries to back off to set something up, which allows Sami to reverse Swagger into a top rope powerbomb.

Another two count.

Suddenly, NXT Champion Bo Dallas comes out.  As the crowd chants “No More Bo”, Dallas tries to encourage Sami.  Zayn is distracted and Jack applies the Patriot Lock once more on the bad ankle.

Zayn has no option but to tap.

Winner: Jack Swagger

Zeb and Jack do their pledge as Dallas looks “concerned”.  Zayn is staring a hole through the champion on the ramp as he tries to get to his feet.

Swagger and Zeb head back and we see “concerned” Bo as the show closes.
