This might be way too optimistic but I've been reading the Rick Perlstein series of history books on the rise of the modern conservatism from 1960 to 1980 and he was saying that while the media frequently compares Trump to Nixon, there are just as many parallels between this election in '64 (extremist, fire brand conservative with overly vocal base Vs Uncouth centrist ex-Vice President). I doubt the Democrats will get decimating wins across the board but me and my man Rick Perlstein can dreeeaaaammm.

she's so wise for her age and the ability to show empathy for people like that while still fighting for the cause in politics is next level. she will be the best president the USA's ever had by the time she leaves the white house.
We'll see. I'd be curious to know what the Venn diagram looks like of people who say that they'll vote for Ocasio-Cortez, when she's eligible to run, and the people who said in 2016 that they would have voted for Warren, if she were on the ballot, but then as soon as she was actually on the ballot, they were like, "Nah."

I think lack of enthusiasm for Warren this year is cause her campaign tried to have both sides of the bread buttered (go for progressive while seeming appealing to mainstream neoliberals). If she had fully tried to base her campaign on saying "I'm the Bernie that can actually get shit done.", I think she would have had 1000x better of a chance of winning the nomination.

I feel like, if you really believe this, you may be grossly overestimating how many Capital-P Progressive people there actually are, in this country.

I am probably overestimating how many progressives are from my Northern New England hemp made bubble (especially considering how BernDawg did this winter) but fact of the matter is Warren went from frontrunner to also ran when she blunted the edges of her progressive platform to try and win over mainstream Democrats.

I had an extremely low bar set for both sides and yet they both failed to meet it. What a fucking time to be alive.

Can I "both sides" Biden's full-throated support for the police?

Do you realize the people who live in her own district hate her? I live in her district btw.
I'm far from AOC's biggest fan, but

Congressional District 14 – Democratic Primary
Queens, Bronx

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (incumbent): 74.42%

He has no choice. Not that I think he wouldn't support the police anyway, all minority groups that support him want the police fixed. To say nothing of fucking white people.

The reason why she didn't win the nomination is because her plans are too detailed and she doesn't know how to interpret them to the average person in an understandable way. People like when politicians are able to summarize everything in just two or three sentences. That's the main reason Trump is the president right there. It also has a lot to do with why Bernie is so popular because he's effective in doing that.

I know "they're too good/smart to be POTUS" is common lament for failed Presidential campaigns but Elizabeth Warren REALLY is probably too smart to become President.
