By who? The Italians and Irish?

All kinds of people. I come into contact (well, pre-pandemic) with people from my neighborhood who constantly complain that she only comes to Queens to campaign and does actual shit for the neighborhood. Mind you, me and my circle of friends are fans but overall, from my personal experience response isn't very good.

Well, I guess it's a good thing for her that all the people that you and HSJ claim don't like her can't be bothered to show up to the polls, then.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The one thing she has been able to do is draw people to the polls. I can say that her getting people interested in politics is probably the only thing she has done for the community which she serves.

Small business owners or the people she took jobs from with the Amazon deal. Or maybe the people who live in her district that never see her because she is using this as a stepping stone for her career.
Oh. You mean Republicans.

Long Island City isn't expensive enough for you? Don't get me started on that bullshit Amazon deal that was predicated on projections they were never going to hit.

So why did she win so overwhelmingly?

And what projects were they not going to hit?

She won overwhelmingly because she has been able to bring new voters to the polls (which is a good thing) and also cause shes on TV all the time, so people will vote for her over someone they don't know.

25,000 jobs over a 10 year period to avoid paying any taxes. That wasn't going to happen, and while it wasn't, at the same time the already unaffordable Long Island City was going to kick more people out, including the business owners you say wanted the deal.

Why do I think you don't really understand the tax benefits they were going to get? They would get certain tax cuts based on how many jobs they made - so if they didn't hit 25k, they wouldn't have got the full thing.

But Amazon coming to LIC and building all of the community facilities they were going to do around it would have most definitely kicked out everyone in the Ravenswood Projects, right?

I literally just said the number of jobs. And I said they weren't going to hit it. And not only would they have gotten the tax breaks anyway, but with the revenue they made, it wouldn't have been invested back into the city. Why do I think you were in a coma for when it happened in Seattle?

That last sentence is laughably embarrassing.

Damn. Sen Scott might want to stop defending Trump no matter what if the SC poll 909 posted above is correct.

Surprisingly all the last five South Carolina's polls either had Graham winning by 1, Harrison winning by as many as 2, or tied. All taken in the last three weeks. Time will tell on this one though.

Slightly shifting discussion for a moment: is anyone here actually planning to vote in person? A few of my friends have expressed interest but I'm leaning more on not taking the risk and doing VOTER FRAUD.

I am filling out an absentee ballot and dropping it off with my city clerk's office. Maine (and a lot of other forward thinking states I would assume) has a system where you can track your ballot too.

I'm probably going to donate to Harrison again in a couple weeks. I will "wooo" so loud if he beats that little shitass Graham.

I'm dropping my ballot off wherever I have to drop it. Not putting it in the mail.

I am just going to early vote in person. It is never that crowded so I imagine it will be even less so this year. I live in the city so people are generally pretty good about masks and distancing, too.

Already changed my mind since my above post. Just made another small donation to Harrison. And another chip for Biden/Harris.
