Jingus might be overreacting a little bit here. There might be a lot of assholes on this board but I never considered KOAB one. I think it's just friendly needling.

I'm sorry if I was overreacting. I think a bunch of personal stuff has made me extra super grumpy recently, for various reasons.

Back to the article, I don't like the cut of this Lisa Brown's jib. "you're all so interested in my vagina, but no means no" is clearly a line meant to antagonize. Lisa Brown needs to shut her stinkin' trap

Lisa Brown does need to keep quiet now. She made her statement, now stay above the fray and let the activists spread the word.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/court-strikes-down-abortion-clinic-buffer-zones/2014/06/26/99937cca-f1b4-11e3-914c-1fbd0614e2d4_story.html

The Supreme Court on Thursday unanimously struck down a Massachusetts law that creates buffer zones around abortion clinics that the court said inhibited the free-speech rights of antiabortion activists.

How long until the first bombing/doctor killing? The SCOTUS seems to think the violence of the 90's is gone forever without admitting one of the big reasons the violence faded was because of laws like this. Just like with voting rights!

The only upside that I can see to this is the ability to protest government functions (RNC, DNC, etc.), using the "space law prohibits freedom of speech" part as precedent.

Wasn't part of the reason for the buffer zones to ensure the safe entry/exit of folks trying to use the facility?

I wonder if any GOP Congressmen's mistresses or teenage daughters ever had an abortion, and if they were cool with it and/or actively encouraged it.

That got Bob Barr into hot water back in the day. Before he became "libertarian" he was a family-values neo-con......until he got caught paying a mistress to go get an abortion quietly.

Much like the gay issue, the abortion issue often is exposed as a "well, since I have the money to send someone way over there to get it done, quietly, under the radar...it's fine" issues.

Shit there's still people, at least in Louisiana, that will send their teenage daughters out of state for 9 months to have babies to make sure no one knows they're pregnant and bring shame to the family. Then boom magically 9 months later there's an infant in the house that they "adopted."

Some of those "Christian" conservatives really really are against abortion and they still need an outlet to not shame the family.

While we're on the "fuckin' Supreme Court, man" tip, they ruled in favor of Hobby Lobby. And lest anyone think there's a slippery slope to banning all kinds of medical insurance stuff due to various religions, they ruled it only applies to contraception, so...

United States Supreme Court said:
LOL ladies, screw y'all.

Hobby Lobby's case rested on an easy-to-disprove-by-science belief (morning after pill = abortion) ("we believe it is true" > science) and claims that contraception is "morally wrong", despite the fact that their 401(k) invests in companies that produce contraception (including emergency contraception) and that they buy goods from China (forced abortions).

Senator Barry Goldwater was pro-choice for this reason (daughter).

The SCOTUS ruling is terrible and could have really awful consequences however

Per SCOTUSBlog:

Under the Hobby Lobby decision, the government can pay for the coverage itself so that women receive it.The Obama Administration is almost certain to provide contraception coverage to women covered by today's decision. Don't overread Hobby Lobby. The Court makes clear women can still get coverage and it isn't opening the door wide to religious claims.

It really opens the door for more terrible shit though. Better hope the Dems hold onto the white house after Obama or the SCOTUS is going to be even more rightwing because there's several getting close to the age they normally retire at.
