Like Hobbs being the one guy Mox can't take out feels right to me. He fits the bill.

And I don't care, I don't want to see Edge and Jericho ever share a ring again at this point.

I really wish they'd just create a women's tag division. So many people i like seeing but finite spots.

I watched the collision show yesterday, at least parts of it. I can’t put my finger on it but wwe just seems really bland in comparison. I much prefer AEW, aside from the crowd acting like a NXT crowd sometimes. Too bad about the declining viewership metrics.

fletcher/takeshita vs omega/ospreay is going to be so good.

I appreciate them trying to explain why Jericho and Moxley would work together but Jericho has so much go away heat at this point it doesn't matter.

So MVP/Shelton/Bob work a trios, Jericho and Edge have promos/vignette, Jarrett does a promo and Christian has a match (admittedly with Hook a young guy)? This is a lot of old talent all in a row.

Yeah, a very old talent heavy show so far even though I've liked most of it. Dustin Rhodes backing Jarrett gives me flashbacks to 1998 WWE.

I'm not sure they should be attaching the rocket to such a young unproven talent like Toni Storm but at least its a nice counter to all the old talent!

Mariah was hysterical on commentary.

The 2 hours has flown by. These AEW shows really power through. It's gotten that going for them at least. Better than 30 minutes of droning promos.

I thought that match protected Hobbs and made him look strong but with that said it also showed how tired the Death Riders/Bloodline/BC/NWO/etc formula becomes. Moxley can try and add twists to it like bleeding from the ear (which was cool) and letting Hobbs look strong by kicking out of his moves but ultimately nothing matters aside from all the interference. You can't rely on it over and over. I don't really blame the invidiual workers, it's lazy booking.

I'll catch up on the show in the coming days, but the Death Riders haven't been the same since the Dark Order shit. Not that this was bad booking because it was awesome booking and made the Deaht Riders feel like a threat to everyone on the card, with everything they do having implications. But that whole thing got dropped for some reason and it just got super lame far too fast.

Prince Nana hitting his chair shot on Ricochet to the beat of Swerve’s music and then dancing over him popped me.

Wish they would have given the women’s casino gauntlet more time.

I love these smaller buildings AEW has been running to start the year. They look different, and the energy is so much better with 1,500 packed into a theater instead of 2,500 people in a 20,000 seat arena.

Can we talk about the weirdness of this Grand Slam Australia show?

1. It was announced as a stadium event, but ticket sales lagged, so they moved it to a normal arena. A little disappointing, but not a huge deal on its own.

2. People have been calling this an “Australia PPV” since it was first announced. But! AEW itself has been noticeably coy about when/where it is airing in the US. Given the time difference, expecting this to be sold as a normal PPV here seemed like a stretch. Maybe it would be a MAX exclusive special?

3. We finally got our answer last night…sort of? During Dynamite, the graphic promoting Mariah May-Toni Storm showed “TNT and MAX | 8/7 central.” So, in the end, is this just a glorified (and tape delayed) episode of Collision? Seems a bit shady to not be more up front about that, given the price some of the tickets to the show have been going for.

Oh, and one other issue…

4. At 8pm on Saturday, Feb 15, TNT also has NBA All-Star Saturday Night.

What is going on here?

I attended this show last night and it was a welcome change to be in a mostly full small venue as opposed to the completely empty arena they kept running prior to it. People actually seemed happy to be there and not depressed about the empty wall in front of them.

Show had its usual flaws they don’t seem interested in resolving and in some cases, emphatically doubled down on despite the rancor received.

they really blew a huge change to MAKE a top guy in Hobbs, they can try to course correct later but the moment was there last night and instead they stuck with more of the bore horsemen. Really glad COPE and friends waited a good long time before meandering to assist Hobbs, hopefully that’s addressed for the dumb 12 man match cuz why the fuck should Hobbs trust them at all.

Crowd was definitively split between Hobbs and their hometown guy, so that says a lot about how dead in the water he is.

Megan Bayne came in COLD and came out looking like a real piece for their division and got over in the room. Toni Storm is too green for this push, I don’t see it.

While I’m always happy to be in the presence of Daddy Jeff, that segment aside from a couple amusing quips felt endless.

Samoa Joe coming back is great but please get him away from Christian very soon.

No issues with the rest of the show. As a whole it was a positive live experience but in the context of the promotion, it felt rudderless.

Wasn't one of y'all telling me, like, back in October or something, that this Death Riders shit had legs for a year?

In October the angle had literally just started and they hadn't fucked anything up yet. There was a ton of juice in it from the Danielson angle and if they had gone right to booking Moxley against top faces then the angle absolutely could have had legs. Instead the angle just meandered around against a bunch of midcarders (that they never blew off) and OC who we'd already seen Moxley beat and isn't a Main Eventer. Moxley never really gave a convincing reason for his actions. etc.

Exactly. They had enough legs to string it out but went in the complete wrong direction once the focus went on OC and the gang instead of actually shaking the company's foundation. The whole thing felt like it should be them destroying everything so Darby could be the savior down the line, but something changed and now they're in a position where they need to change course sooner and not have a satisfying end. It's so frustrating since it started so well and felt like something special.

With Darby being gone until Summer they def. need to change plans.

Also, there's just way too many old people on the show. Individually I have no issue with Edge, JJ, Christian, Dustin. But, featuring them all on the same show made it feel like fading glory.

Honestly I don't want anyone who worked during the Monday Night War on TV anymore except Edge and Christian.

Page also needs to completely squash Daniels on Collision. It should be a quick massacre. I respect the idea in isolation but not when they have so many over 50 talents on screen as it is.

I hope this somehow pivots to Hangman/Omega, honestly. This Hangman makes me want to see that feud.

I understand in theory why Omega has to dick around with the Callis group but you are the only active EVP who isn’t a quivering coward and you aren’t even the slightest bit bothered about a group of assholes ruining your show and promotion?

It kinda just buries the top heel group (they don’t need help doing that) and all the feckless babyfaces that can’t get the job done.

The message of Omega not caring and the Bucks not wanting to be bothered is really bad. I wish TK had at least used the Death Riders for his one big bump instead, though.

I laughed when Jarrett said that MJF's Canadian mom ran a train on ten dudes, but that promo was pretty brutal especially from the MJF side.

It really should've been Hobbs' night. You don't have to give him a long reign or anything, but you could've made a new star easily. COPE vs Mox doesn't really do much for me at this point. And with Darby out, Hobbs should've been pushed much earlier as well. I think Orange Cassidy is a damn good worker, but he doesn't deserve the spot he got, and Hobbs should've got elevated then.
