Honestly I'm not too surprised since he finished up with all his indie dates a few months ago, so he was going somewhere.

Push that dude.

Another guy like Bailey who can stand out more in AEW than WWE where he would be random Chad Gable henchman or something.

Yeah it’s a surprise because at one point he was definitely going to WWE. Instead they wind up signing the ex-AEW guys and repeating the mistake Tony made when he signed them as ex-WWE, which allowed WWE to shift to more unknown talent and get hot. Literally the same mistake! That kind of talent exchanging strategy between these two companies has a ceiling.

Bailey is definitely going to AEW, I think they’re just waiting on the visa. A lot of people in the business think WWE ratted on Bailey in the first place to get him deported and banned from the country.

WWE is probably also not the best place for the openly bi guy and his non binary partner.

She should at least be in ROH by now.

Not a ppv, but it was presented like one. Absolute classic show, crowd was lit. Interested to see where they go with Buddy from here, absolutely looked like a star.

They can build the TNT title around Buddy any time. He's a backbone Arn type who can work with anyone and be seen at any level you want him to be.

I enjoyed Grand Slam and wanted to see the reaction online but couldn't because everyone was arguing over the size of the ring and the type of ring steps used. The goalposts are all the way on Saturn at this point.

Yeah ring size matters but unless it's jarringly small I don't care. You wanna argue about presentation, start with the color scheme and lack of ramp connected to ring.

AEW normally uses a 20x20. For this show, they used a locally sourced 18x18. Yes, it was smaller than normal, but it was perfectly acceptable, especially when factoring in the logistics of working a show on the other side of the planet.

For what it’s worth, I’m pretty sure AEW also used a smaller ring for Dynamite on the Jericho Cruise and those early pandemic shows taped at the Nightmare Factory in 2020.

Shifting gears to much more worthwhile topics, I found this thread on Kenny and Ospreay interesting.

These kinds of things are why I want to bang my head against a wall when WWE drones say AEW doesn’t do storytelling. AEW absolutely tells stories. They just don’t always bludgeon you over the head with obtuse plot developments.

WWE fans are more likely to have modern ADHD vs the AEW fans who just have the more traditional obsessive autism. I feel like i could probably show my work with enough time.

I've got all the love in the world for storytelling like that, but it NEEEEDS to be acknowledged on-air. Don't just let fans put it together on Bluesky or reddit, actually have the commentators talk about it, have the talent bring it up in a promo, make it a thing.

Megan Bayne vs. Statlander tonight. A little surprised they’re running that already, especially with it being announced only this afternoon.

Hangman’s performance in the opening segment was terrific. He is probably the best wrestler on the roster at conveying nuance with his character.

Toni Storm declaring that Mariah May had been “compromised to a permanent end” like Cena talking about Bin Laden was hilarious.

Also: I don’t know what happened to Thunder Rosa, but that run-in was a mess. She looked like she had no idea what she was doing.
