See it must be getting banger ratings in TK's EWR so you go to the well.

AEW has a problem with this but let's not act like it's unique to them. WWE literally does the same format of stuff every year, year after year. 2 war games on a show, 2 ECs, 2 HIACs, etc.

That’s at least scheduled and eventized.

This is more equivalent to when WWE would drag out TLC matches repeatedly to pop a show.

Mox feuding with Cope (this one I don't mind much).

MJF now feeding with Jarrett

Hangman is starting a problem with Christopher Daniels (maybe this is only one match as a stop-gap)?

I mean AEW being the company that spotlight older workers isn't what I expected.

It being scheduled is worse and eventized is worse. They are doing gimmick matches for things that make no sense multiple times a year, it breaks up the entire rhythm of storylines. It's taken all the value out of most of their big gimmicks.

But if you schedule it for certain times and events, it at least gets an air of prestige to it and can turn into something special. It should be their Rumble, not their post-1999 cage match. Say what you want about the TLC shows or whatever but having something be intended as an event means more than being trotted out as an afterthought.

The word out now is that Malakai Black is finishing up with AEW or already has.

I agree they could mean more and I'm not trying to defend AEW not doing a better job here but WWE's system is even worse to me. Does anyone really see TLC or HIAC as prestigious anymore? MITB? They've been completely devalued. Everything WWE is completely monotonous.

AEW is frustrating because it feels like they are chaotic and throwing shit at the wall but at least I can't predict the next 3 years of storylines and winners ahead of time.

Strange run for Malakai in AEW. He had a hot start by taking out Cody and Arn Anderson when he debuted, but he really fizzled out over the last couple years. I wouldn’t even say he’s a typical victim of TK getting distracted by newer toys. He just never seemed to click with the AEW audience as much as Brody King or Julia. (I’m in wait and see mode on Buddy with the angle that started tonight.)

Malakai can obviously go in the ring, but AEW has no shortage of great workers.

He didn't click and he got hurt constantly. I never felt like he had any super strong matches and he cut the same promo over and over. I agree he was overshadowed by Brody and Julia.

2. If AEW is hellbent on bringing back the LED board barricade across from the hard cam, would it be asking too much to make it a color that isn’t blindingly bright orange when matches are going on? It really distracts from the action in the ring.
Tony, if you’re lurking here on the board, thank you for listening.

I wish Black had been more sinister killing machine and less spooky. But, that's just my personal taste. I was always more of an Austin guy growing up than a Taker/Kane supernatural kind of fan.

His whole run was really odd though. I don't know if it was injuries, depression or wanting to go back to WWE. But, something was off after his run with Cody.

He was always presented as a threat when he was featured but was never really pushed. I don't think we can entirely blame AEW for how his run ended up but I imagine he wished he jumped back to WWE once HHH assumed power.

Well what happened is that Tony has learned the wrong lesson from the problems he had with guys like Black. Now he likes the ex-WWE talent they bring in too much to put them in check.

With Black, I feel that Mark Dallas's Insane Championship Wrestling had the best presentation for him with the Legion faction, where it was "this is a shitkicker occultist zealot" and not "this man has magical demonic powers." It's really only been the Undertaker that can get away with that kind of supernatural element.

He spat mist and turned the lights on/off right? Was there anything else I'm forgetting? Pretty boring powers. People still love this goofy shit given how over the Wyatt crap is/was but you have to commit to the sillyness and I don't think that's something anyone really wants in AEW.

The thing that's concerning about all this is that Tony's lesson from 'this didn't work out' is that he needs to do more things to make these kinds of fractious relationships work out in the future.

Black is a much better worker as a face. He really excels in the plucky underdog role. Too bad his personality won't let that happen.

I'm pretty ok with TLC and EC being calendar events. But HITC is ridiculous and has ruined the gimmick.

Going through Dynamite on Max. Ospreay/Buddy made Buddy look really good and was a damn good match. By the numbers Will, but Buddy is a great match for his style.

Lashley has really blended in well with the AEW style and delivered on his end with the great Mark Briscoe. Lashley still feels underrated. To still be able to go this hard at his age and build is astounding. Him and Mark had great chemistry.

Cherry picked through tonight's Collision as well. PAC vs Kommander was very good. Shibata/Garcia was a solid tv match. Dax vs Jericho was bad. Jericho is really trying, but unless he simplifies his style and works less, he's going to look bad. He can't keep up. He needs to drop the Lionsault and can barely clear it anymore. Top rope ranas aren't a good idea for a 54 year old either. I'm impressed he can still do those spots, but I don't want any awful injury to happen.

Also holy shit do they need to cut down on Wheeler Yuta. Feels like he's all over both Dynamite and Collision. His push reminds me of Xpac's after he turned in 99 and got the Xpac Heat in 00/01. Seems like the show stops when he shows up.

I agree, although if the plan is to have him face Danielson at All In, I suspect Wheeler isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Yeah, watching Hobbs no sell that chairshot made me want him to beat Mox. I can't see it happening, but I WILL BELIEVE.
