I don’t think problem is CM Punk not wanting to do jobs. He has probably done more jobs than any of the notorious wrestling primadonnas. His issue is wanting to micromanage every beat of his creative direction, which jibes much less with WWE than AEW.

No it would be a problem when you're trying to do jobs to humble him because there's no way he's just going to sit there and be okay with eating loss after loss. Nobody's tried to get him to do that yet for good reason.

Also, why as a company are you intentionally jobbing him out anyways then?

Why are you diluting the value of the guy you just hypothetically paid significant money for?

It’s a stupid concept to think “well job him out and teach him a lesson”. Yeah, Vince has done that.

So why would Punk accept that? Why would anyone of any value do that?

Edit: this is like if the Jets told Aaron Rodgers after they acquired him that he was gonna ride the bench for a few games because he caused a lot of drama leading up to it.

Rodgers would laugh and leave the building as would Punk or anyone else really

It’s cause it’d be a dumb thing to do. I don’t think anyone except maybe some Vincels would suggest best solution is to make Punk work but job him out.

With Punk, he’s either a top guy or you don’t book him at all. He is not going to blend in the midcard if occasion calls for it like Jericho or Moxley (or Adam Copeland would if he signed with AEW cough cough).

Someone doesn’t want to work weekends anymore.

SRS claims Punk has not been notified of any suspension.

Maybe AEW needs to check they have Punks updated contact information after the whole incident last weekend.

If TK had a dick or a spine he would serve punk his suspension notice live on tv.

He doesn’t so he won’t

He should've done them both at the press conference.

I was thinking Punk doing more like what Lesnar did in 2012. He'll do one high-profile job out of the gate in a "you work for us now" moment and then pushing him accordingly. Yeah, Punk likely doesn't want that but it's an option. HHH will want to humiliate him and stick it to AEW at the same time. Crazier things have happened.

I interviewed Heyman years ago, and from what he told me, the company wasn’t sure how it would work out with bringing Brock back, so the idea was to do one match, see how it goes, and then work from there. Obviously things ended up fine, but they didn’t want to get into a situation where they have him return, he goes over Cena and then disappears again, hence having Lesnar job in that match at Extreme Rules.

Through that lens, if WWE decides it’s worth the potential headache of bringing Punk back, I wouldn’t be surprised at all they had him job in his first match or position him very cautiously on the card at a minimum. Nothing about the guy screams long-term stability. In other words, I wouldn’t expect Punk to immediately go over Seth Rollins in multiple PPVs right away like Cody Rhodes did.

If I’m a money mark, Punk is the last person I’d want to build my company around. Unlike his idol Bret Hart, I think Punk might be as toxic as everyone says he is.

Thread.

I’m sure there is a certain level of dysfunction behind the curtain of every company, but seeing this laid out, it is a fucking miracle that AEW can put on a show as good as All In ended up being. And if you aren’t online and are only engaging with the product by watching the shows, you’d have no idea about any of this.

Tony is a way better human being than any other promoter wrestling has had. I'm sure he paid all of Brodie's contract out to his family ( @909 originally pointed that out in the chat) as well.
More evidence of Tony being a better human being than boss. According to SRS, he has offered Wednesday off for anyone who wants to attend Bray Wyatt’s memorial service.

On the Punk travel story, Bryan confirms that no one was there to pick him up from the UK airport, he had to take a train and get fans to direct him to Wembley.

The very notion of Punk getting stranded at the airport and having to lean on the people who annoy him most when traveling to get to the show is so great.

I presume this will include any that wish to attend Terry Funks service on Thursday as well.

Also confirms he might really be the cheapest bastard since Foley if he wouldn’t even just get an Uber instead of trying to figure out the train system.

Bryan says there was apparently a SECOND NEAR INCIDENT when Punk came back through the current where Miro confronted Punk and asked him about what happened with Perry, and Punk asked him if he had a problem with him now and if he wanted to step outside. JESUS CHRIST.

I want Miro to wreck him more than any outcome. That's the most satisfying ending to the whole thing. I'm not 100% sold on this scenario happening as stated however I do see Punk being that guy.

Who are Punk's guys these days? FTR, yeah, but they're also cool with everyone iirc and don't seem like they'd take a grenade for him if it came to it. Starks? Hobbs? Danhausen.

Brody King was rumored to be the member of the Punk camp who freaked out. FTR are Team Punk but they are also used to eating shit from their years in WWE (plus they regularly work with The Elite dorks).

“Step outside”

I love the idea of Punk and Miro walking out of the giant stadium to continue their pissing contest on the concourse outside the entrance.

Brody is a good guy and the only reason he’d react so badly is cause this is happening AGAIN

Yeah anyone Punk's friends with who is pissed is more pissed it keeps happening than because anyone is out to get Punk. Except for, like, Ace Steel or the dog.

Honestly, I just hope Punk, Larry and AJ are happy and doing well and they enjoy their lives doing what makes them happy.

For AJ it’s writing beautiful motivational books and writing scripts for cool shit, for Larry it’s all the stritches a good boy can have and for Punk, I hope he’s always able to find someone younger than him that he can ask to take it outside.

Joe seemingly just now realizing Punk is an asshole is kinda sad. I remember when Joe would invite Punk to Thanksgiving and shit, now he seems to get Punk is just Punk.

The day Punk and Joe couldn’t go to the strip club together anymore because Punk would keep trying to get the whore to go outside was the start of the end.
