Apparently someone didn't clue AEW ahead to the fact that summer shows in Canada are not smart as alot of folks are vacationing and generally not around in most cases....there are exceptions such as Toronto being a much bigger market and maybe Calgary drawing a decent number by the end, but some of these smaller cities just don't have the fanbase or the avalibility of whatever fanbase they have to attend because of outside factors. This might explain the bad attendance more than anything. Plus to do so many in such a certain amount of time is kinda watering down the idea of them touring up there IMO. For what its worth, the Dynamite shows are also not doing big ticket sales either in Canada. I get they want to get their name out in all these markets, and are banking on perhaps the Owen tourney to get a crowd, but the bottom line is that they are up there way too long.
Punk has moved tickets a bit to the United Center show, but its far from sold out as Forbidden Door 2022 and the Rampage from the year prior etc. They might get 10k by Saturday but we will see. The Dynamite the next week in Chicago has about half the attendance so far as even Collision so that's not selling well really either.
To a degree, the general questions about how Collision is going to be is a huge factor too and this to me seems to cement the fact that Punk is no longer this draw that maybe he once was, although I feel like even if he still was...this whole blowing their load in Canada for multiweeks isn't really proactive. The other names announced sure didn't get people scrambling to get tickets either, nor did I expect that to happen.....even if these were in the states.
