I would also say that sometimes in wrestling the best things are those that you can predict, but in this case they even exceeded the prediction because of how good both these guys are. Having a great idea like that and executing it properly are two different things.

It's also a good thing that this segment was on here because even though this show had two really good matches, it didn't feel like a whole lot was going on this week.

Trying to read the tea leaves based on what info has been reported and/or hinted at by people who know things, here are some semi-educated guesses on the future of AEW TV:

- They have agreed to a new deal with WBD. Tony says an official announcement is likely to come within the next month. My guess is we hear something either during Grand Slam or the 5-year anniversary show.

- There’s a new AEW show coming. It will be called Shockwave. It will air on a non-WBD platform. Linear channel? Streaming platform? No idea, but hopefully it involves a consolidation of Collision and Rampage. As much as I love AEW, I don’t need the company to have 4 weekly shows and I cringe at the thought of Tony having to write another 1-2 hours of TV every week.

Another casino gauntlet on Wednesday this time a tag team variety.

All for the special prize of a match with the bucks.

This needs to be the last one they do for awhile or like the TLC concept, it’s gonna get old fast even if you keep doing surprises.

Just came here to say the same thing. It’s a great match concept, but this is what, the fourth one in six months?

I can't think of a single reason to do this unless you're debuting a tag team and I was sure that MCMG were going to WWE so I dunno who they'd debut.

Also they have to change the name of this gimmick concept. You already established the Casino Battle Royal.

They didn’t call it the Survivor Rumble.

The prize is for a title match at Grand Slam so I also can’t even think of an important or relevant NYC based team to use this spot for.

Otherwise it feels like a reactionary booking move by TK if there isn’t a surprise.

You can’t also keep hoping surprises boost a number either cuz we’ve seen that sink companies too.

I'm worried they get the Bucks match, lose, and we don't see them again for six months.

Danielson-Nigel and Darby-Mox are both good matches. But I hope between now and Grand Slam, we get some sort of clarification about why Danielson can wrestle Nigel on the same card where he was supposedly unfit to defend against Darby as originally scheduled.

I also hope that doesn't screw Darby out of a match with Danielson before Danielson leaves. I love Mox, but I've already seen him versus Bryan, and I really, really want to see Darby-Bryan in this run.

They've got to have something in mind. A shift in this way is not TK's style. But that said the best thing about AEW's main event scene since Bryan won the Owen tournament is that it's highly unpredictable.

Also, has it been confirmed Bryan is fully retiring or that he has a different schedule? The wording always makes it seem like he's getting a Brock or Taker schedule now, for lack of a better comparison, but everyone acts like he confirmed retirement.

It’s a retirement where if he has a compelling desire or the company is desperate again, he would be open to stepping in for one offs but I wouldn’t call it a Brock schedule because it’s not based around financials.
