Robin is coming to Batman: Arkham City as a playable character in the game’s Challenge Mode. We’ve seen concept renders and artwork of what the character will look like in the game, but today we’re seeing actual character skins. But not just one, we’re seeing three. Thanks to some Internet super sleuthing, ArkhamCity.co.uk has unearthed what Robin will look like in the game, as well as two extra costumes the character will have at his disposal.
Everyone, say hi to standard Arkham City Robin, as well as Red Robin and Robin from the animated series.
As of right now, Robin is strictly a pre-order incentive at Best Buy. However, there is a likely chance that all pre-order material for Arkham City will be made available as DLC down the road. Is it definite? No. But WB Games and Rocksteady would be stupid to not offer it up later to make a little extra scratch. Because let’s be honest, people will buy this type of stuff.
For those unfamiliar with where these costumes come from, let me enlighten you. Red Robin is currently the get-up that Tim Drake rocks in the comics to distinguish himself from the current Robin, Bruce Wayne’s biological son, Damian. But the Red Robin costume has roots that extend as far back as 1996’s seminal Kingdom Come comic mini-series by Mark Waid and Alex Ross.
In regards to the animated series look, many consider the cartoon show from the early ‘90s to be the definitive version of Batman and the cast of characters that populate Gotham. And you know what, we’re not going to argue with them. Batman: The Animated Series is nearly flawless. So to see tribute paid to it in Arkham City is quite awesome.
