Play the first one, or go straight for 2? I missed this one.

I think the stories are barely related but you might miss a bunch of inside jokes which will probably be in there. First game is outstanding, though.

If you care about co-op, probably start with this new one as that's where the bulk of people will be for the next little while. You could always play the first one as a "prequel" later on. It is outstanding, though, as Mik said.

If I do go for the first at some point, is the DLC/Game of the Year edition worth it? $10 more.

100%. General Knox is hilarious, long, and has the toughest enemy in the whole game. The zombie one is entertaining and also very funny.

Trying to finish Knoxx before BL2 comes out. Forgot how much I missed this game..

Knoxx as a character is hilarious. Him constantly bitching about how stupid his superiors are and how he just wants to die so people will leave him alone.

Lemme know when you start playing the first game, Edwin. I just recently started a play-through of that one myself, my roommates got me into it since they're all pumped for the sequel. It's a really fun game, a nicely balanced mix of RPG and FPS elements.

I do wish I'd started as the Hunter rather than the Soldier, though; the soldier's special turret weapon is nearly useless at times, it can't move at all and at best has maybe a 120 degree range of fire. It's nothing compared to a powered-up Bloodwing from the Hunter, which actively roams the landscape and seeks out enemies to kill. Also, the grinding for money gets awfully tedious, I wish that either they gave you more loot or else lowered the prices at the shop. They're asking a hundred grand for this awesome rocket launcher, but I've never had that much at once ever in the whole game!

More often then not, weapons you find are 20x better then weapons you buy in my experience. And eventually you get to the point where you can spare 100 grand easy, and not that far into the game. I believe I got the 1 million achievement at like level 27 or so. Which means I could spare 100 way before that.

Got a guy at work and one of my good friends to roll as a co-op group so my excitement level is now even higher.

So who, aside from CV is getting this at midnight for 360? Wouldn't mind having a TRTSM group to roll with.

I'm leaning towards it, but I'm still into Sleeping Dogs and still have Max Payne 3 to start. I'll probably ask for it for my birthday or something.

I'm almost at that level now, and never had 100 grand. My problem is that I always want to have the very best tippy-top equipment possible, and I'll often buy a gun just because it's a tiny bit better than the one I have. But this was especially weird, because the gun I'm talking about was a bazooka that had a damage rating of like 999, and at the time my very strongest weapon wasn't even 400. The disparity was massive, and if I'd somehow been able to afford it then it would've been a game-breaker for the near future.

an easy way to make some quick cash relatively early on is in New Haven, there's like 4-5 chests, just loot em all, exit game and repeat. Money was never really an issue for me though, but I think I rarely ever bought any weapons, I hardly ever saw any that were better than what I was finding.

I pre-ordered 2 since it came with a $10 credit at Amazon, and so I'll be able to get my co-op on close to launch. Doubt it'll get down to $40 before the end of the year, which is functionally what it costs since you get the first DLC if you pre-order. Huzzah.

I love preordering from amazon...my only issue is that my UPS delivery is around 6:30 pm, so I usually have some waiting to do. Overall, I think it's worth it.

Derp. My pre-order from Gamestop didn't come with any vouchers for the pre-order bonuses. Not even and email with codes (which usually happens).

Did about two hours of co-op. Got through 3 solid boss battles and hit level 7. Just hit Sanctuary...10/10 on the fun scale.

Heads up to anyone that may have preordered from Best Buy: apparently the DLC was supposed to be printed on the receipt. I didn't realize this because past games they emailed DLC to me. If you didn't get it, which sounds like a lot of people, it looks like you will need to reach out to customer service.

Haven't tried co-op yet, but the game is stellar so far. Rolled a Commando class and just got to Sanctuary before I went to bed last night. I forgot how much fun sniping was in this series. ;)

From doing a little of both, I can say that the loot is about 10x better from co-op and all the enemies are much, much harder as well. Which is to be expected.
