Raids and raid bosses as in they can be re-done multiple times? Awesome!

Put in a few hours with the Mechromancer... enough to get to level 7. Have to say that I'm enjoying it more than the Siren. Death Trap as a special skill is way ahead of phaselocking.

I started a Mechromancer last night playing with 3 of my friends. Death Trap is insane. I just unleash him then go loot things while he smashes his way through everything.

I realize this isn't quite the thread for this, but I don't feel like looking for the thread for the original Borderlands game, and I'm assuming some of you have played it. Been playing the original on PS3 with my buddy, but I got into it a little bit after him; at one point, the game said he was too far above me, and we figured whatever, but then we realized I was "ineligible" for certain quests (but not all of them). My question is, what causes that? We went back and played through it with me as the main person and closed the gap on our levels (it's like, 17-21, where it was like, 10-20). Will being in the same level range as him mean I'll be eligible for all the quests? Or do I have to talk to certain people/go to certain areas in my own game to be able to do those quests in his?

There is a part of me that thinks I would be awful at this game, like just a total clutz that had no idea what I was doing, but that I still want to just pick it up and fuck around with it anyway. I'm currently on the fence.

One of the friends I was playing with last night is the worst person I've ever seen try to play an FPS and he's loving it.

It's kind of funny when you play online now and EVERYONE is the Mechromancer.

I took a run at end game with my friends with my level 7 mechromancer. Died hundreds of times but went to level 26 from 7 from "Where Angels Tread" to end of game. Just need to speed run the main quest on my own for True Vault Hunter mode. I'd rate Gaige orders of magnitude higher than Maya in playability and fun.

Both the Mechromancer and the Commando are pretty good for newer players, as their special powers are basically friends who help you murder.

I've read some who believe the Commando takes more skill than other classes, but I played him first in the original and I had little trouble. (I'm no FPS veteran, either.)

Just hit 50 with my commando. I don't know how he compares difficulty wise compared to the other classes, but once you get 2 turrets the game gets quite a bit easier. His early skills do a good job of getting his survivability and damage up, and with 2 turrets you can bottleneck things and create really nice killing zones. All in all, I don't think "easier" would be a good term for Axton. Maybe more like "strategic".

None of my usual core of 360 playmates owns this game nor do they plan on purchasing it (or so I'm led to believe), so either I'm going to try and do this solo and be awful or figure something else out.

Not sure when I'm going to be around online. I know at some point tonight I'm jumping on there to fuck around with Madden with for awhile, but I'm expecting I'll be up till the wee hours of the mid-Atlantic morning.

I'm level 7 or 8 as a Mancer, got to Sanctuary and sort of decided to chill a little bit. Gotta do some Firehawk crap next. Had a fuck of a time trying to find that guy out in the tundra. Was trying to motor everywhere and didn't realize I needed to hoof the last section. I've died a handful of times just because I'm not good at being strategic with running and trying to lead people to their doom.

Just beat the final boss on True Vault Hunter mode and the drop was worse than when I beat him on Normal mode. WTF? Gonna have to get a few people to 50 and coop him to get a decent drop I guess.

Something I realized after multiple playthroughs.

Spoilers for level 9 or so.
The first time I went to rescue Roland, the constructor got away and I had to rescue him from the Friendship Gulag. The second time (playing Mechromancer, natch) I defeated the Constructor handily and skipped that whole mission. I knew there where missions that could go two ways, but I did not realized it wasn't always advertised.

Yeah that happened to me too. It's pretty funny when you get him there in front of the big Marcus statue and he's just like oh hey what's up?

I beat Leviathan in the DLC over the weekend to finish it. Took me like 20 tries, that fucking fucker. Captain Blade's loot is just like the Armory of General Knoxx but without the timer so that was awesome. I only got one purple and no oranges so I was ready to complain but the purple I got is so awesome that I'm not even mad. People were complaining that you can only do it once but the patch must have fixed that because now I got the mission to repeat it and get the stash again. Solid DLC... good story. I'm still only level 39 so I'll get some replay out of it a little later when I can tackle the two raid bosses.

Just bumping this thread to say how much I love this game. =D Been playing a lot of co-op with some friends out west (making for some late nights for me) and it's been a blast. The slaughterdome arenas are especially fun. One of the guys I play with is a completionist so I think I'm going to platinum this baby just by association.

IGN said:
Borderlands 2’s second expansion -- Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage -- will launch on November 20th. Like Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate’s Booty before it, Campaign of Carnage offers new areas for players to explore, three new achievements, a new currency and plenty of new missions for players level 15 or higher, with enemies scaled to your level.

The basic story of Campaign of Carnage revolves around a new vault discovered in Pandora, buried in the center of a large crater that will only open “once the champion of Pandora feeds it the blood of the ultimate coward.” Your introduction to Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage comes via Mr. Torgue himself, screaming at you like a terrifying mix of Hulk Hogan and Macho Man Randy Savage with a deep love for explosions.

As Mr. Torgue describes the new vault, “we at the Torgue Corporation sincerely believe this is f**king awesome -- so awesome that we're going to set up a tournament to find this number one badass.” That tournament takes place in an arena that will serve as the centerpiece of the expansion, built around the Badass Crater of Badassitude where the vault is buried. You’ll need a sponsor to participate, and one of the first new characters you’ll meet is Piston, a scarily-large brawler with engine pistons for hands.

Sitting down to play the Campaign of Carnage, it’s obvious that Gearbox intends this expansion to be played by its most hardcore players. Torgue’s campaign mixes Borderlands 2’s typical mission structure with the Circles of Slaughter seen in the main game, using horde mode-style battles to punctuate story missions throughout its running time, which is roughly the same as the previous expansion.

Like in Pirate’s Booty, enemies have been replaced by new versions related to the theme -- Marauders become bikers, Goliaths become Enforcers -- but Campaign of Carnage has plenty of new enemies to offer as well. The expansion includes multiple bosses, like Pyro Pete (a surprisingly lassez-faire flamethrowing psychopath), Motor Mama (a “rather buxom lady on a motorcycle with twin sidecars” according to concept designer Scott Kester), and Badassaurus Rex (a “big crazy Torgue-themed robotic dinosaur breathing fire”).

According to Kester, the expansion is built around “the culture of combat,” and it’s not shy about exploring it. Playing the first hour, it’s clear that you’ll be fighting. A lot. The only ones fighting more than you are your various enemies, who are just as likely to hurt each other as they are to attack you. Combat doesn’t become too repetitive, though. Aside from the story missions and arena bouts, you’ll come across an additional Circle of Slaughter in a bar brawl early on, and even when you do revisit the main arena you’ll encounter different combat scenarios each time.

As for that new currency, unique vending machines spread throughout the Campaign of Carnage’s new areas will only accept Torgue Tokens, which you’ll have to scavenge from killed enemies. Each machine features a selection of badass Torgue guns and always offers a legendary weapon in the Item of the Day slot. Campaign of Carnage will also feature some familiar faces, including Tannis, Moxxi and even Tiny Tina, who Kester says has “her own thoughts about sponsorship.” Tina will also offer a new subset of weapons, and based on her affinity for explosions it’s not hard to guess what they’ll do.

Looking ahead, Gearbox says it’s already thinking about the next downloadable content. Eventually, the developer has plans to raise Borderlands 2’s level cap, but not in the way you might expect. “We’re discussing trying to do it in a more interesting way,” Gearbox vice president of marketing Steve Gibson told IGN. “We think people are going to be really happy when we do get to it. It’s a little bit different way of doing it. Yes, the number will go up, but there are some other things associated with it that we’re trying to do an even better job of.”

Like Pirate’s Booty, Campaign of Carnage will be available for $9.99, or as part of the $29.99 Season Pass that includes access to four Borderlands 2 expansions through June 2013.

Looks amazing. All my friends quit on me just as I reached Level 50 so I got stranded on the elite bosses. Now the bee shield got nerfed so I have no chance against Terramorphous. I've moved on to a different game but I will play this DLC as I already paid for it w/ season pass.

I lucked out with the dude I play Borderlands with. He really only plays co-op games (I guess he's EA's dream demographic) so I have no worries about him quitting on me any time soon.

When did they nerf the Bee shield??

I'm not sure but I saw everyone talking about it in the comments on Kotaku and Pitchford said on his twitter that it had to be nerfed because no one was using any other shield.

Never did manage to farm a Bee Shield, and I never dupe items, so I guess I get to never know what I missed.

I'll get Torgue since I have the season pass, but it's going to have to wait until after Halo 4. I've already put it off until after I finish AC3, it's time to enjoy.

Having the enemies juke around and stumble actually makes the game a bit harder starting out. It doesn't help that all I got for the first bit were pistols and revolvers when I'm more of a SMG and assault rifle guy. I found a pretty good shotgun to make up for it a bit.

Found a corrosive SMG and made a shotgun out of an AI core. I need no more weapons in this game. Also my shield absorbs bullets and refills my ammo.
