Concerts coming to your area: Good and Bad

Because it's a free show so I'm assuming that means it's all ages which means they have to censor themselves. Just a guess.

Haha. I went to a free Raekwon show in Staten Island a couple of years ago. It was held in a park/play ground in a pretty bad neighborhood on the island. The show was full of little kids, cops and metal detectors. Can't remember if he censored himself though.

Staind and Godsmack were here last weekend. In what I know won't be a popular opinion here, my girlfriend and I went and had a great time. The arena was only about half full though. Understandable since both bands are over a decade past the height of their popularity. Our local rock station manager has been on a Facebook tirade all week bitching about the turnout. Things like, "this is why "big name" acts never come here" and "to say I was disappointed in the attendance at the opening night of this tour would be the understatement of the century".

I'm surprised those bands can still play arenas even in a package bill. Then again, I say this every other year when Nickelback sells out the local minor league hockey arena.

Both Candlebox and Collective Soul will be having concerts in Manhattan coming up, not playing together (although that would be awesome). I might go to one of those.

Seether/Chevelle was set to play here next Thursday, but cancelled due to a "scheduling conflict". In other words, "Godsmack/Staind filled less than half of the James Brown Arena, fuck your town!"

I'm seeing Gwar for the third time in six months on Friday. Upside? GWAR, of course, and Ghoul is still on tour with them. Downside? I have to leave work to get to Newburyport and then rush up to Hampton, NH to make it in time for Ghoul taking the stage, and Legacy of Disorder is still opening (who are horrible) and Kylesa has joined them for the rest of the tour (and I can't stand them) after Municipal Waste have dropped off for some reason.

After weeks of debating, I broke down and bought a ticket to the Summerland Tour aka the "90's bands you didn't like" tour featuring Everclear, Sugar Ray, Lit, Gin Blossoms, and Marcy Playground. What can I say? I'm a 90's kid.

After weeks of debating, I broke down and bought a ticket to the Summerland Tour aka the "90's bands you didn't like" tour featuring Everclear, Sugar Ray, Lit, Gin Blossoms, and Marcy Playground. What can I say? I'm a 90's kid.

I'd be all over that! Gotta admit to being a huge fan of Gin Blossoms, Lit (they did that one song from that dreadful Titan A.E. film) and especially Everclear, way back.
