Fozzy is coming here on August 30th and tickets are only $15. I think I might jump on that.

I saw Fuel headline a show in these parts like 5 years ago, they kinda sucked balls live.

When your two opening acts show you up (Breaking Point and Saliva) and massively? Bad business.

That was probably when they had their 2nd singer which explains why they were so bad. The original vocalist rejoined the group about a year ago and the band has a whole new line-up now. Their recent sets have gotten good reviews which I believe is the reason for this tour.

Unfortunately I just found out I have a prior engagement the same day as that show so I'll miss it which is a shame.

Riot Fest Chicago in September is going to be red hot aces. Iggy, Elvis Costello, Dropkick Murphys, Descendants, Alkaline Trio, Gaslight Anthem. It puts Lollapalooza to shame.

Because I live a life without shame or irony, I'm looking forward to the Summerland tour. Everclear, Sugar Ray, Gin Blossoms, Lit, Marcy Playground, Gin Blossoms, and the Gin Blossoms. That's a line up I can get behind.

Demi Lovato is playing the San Diego county fair tomorrow. Didn't realize her career had fallen so far so quickly.

Neil Young & Crazy Horse is playing in Calgary in November. It's a shame that he is playing at the giant maxi-pad. Horrible acoustics.

Uh oh---New England metal headquarters, The Worcester Palladium is scheduled to close!

Me and Lazarus Cuntarded are going to barge into Deval Patrick's office to correct this injustice. If the Juggalos don't have the Palladium, they might migrate up to Maine and nobody wants that!
I check this thread to post something about heading off to Deathfest in that very building and read this.

If true? FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!

However, since MassConcerts is saying it's a false rumor (and they do all of the booking for the Palladium), it sounds like it's leaning towards false.

I'm hoping MassConcerts is accurate, but August 1st seems to be the deadline for the decision.

Mark McGrath of Sugar Ray mentioned on Howard Stern that Smash Mouth was one of the bands originally considrred for the tour.

Not really a lot of other options in the area though, are there? The Jack Singer and even the Jubilee are too small and McMahon is outdoors in November. At least the 'Dome is better than that tin can Max Bell Arena. I went to the 2008 concert he did there, and it was pretty good, minus Death Cab For Cutie as an opening act choice. The last time Neil Young came through Western Canada was 1996, so it was a no-brainer.

I'm not particularly jazzed about "Americana" as a concept. Still, gnarly old men playing stripped down rock'n'roll works for Grinderman, so we shall see.

I've already seen all these bands except Marcy Playground and Sugar Ray at one time or another. I even saw Smashmouth back in 2000, although the sound was terrible.

Gin Blossoms were OK, but I'd run from the venue where any of those other bands were playing. I never liked Everclear and their tuneless generic pieces of dude-rock that all sounded the same, and "Sex and Candy" is legitimately one of my least favorite songs of all time. And while I don't have any truly negative associations with "Fly" or "Every Morning," I consider Sugar Ray to be a spiritual forerunner to the irredeemable Crazy Town. Shifty Shellshock was just Mark McGrath with more attitude.

Now get Bush to tour with a band that isn't Nickelback and I'll go see that. That's the 90s I like to remember.

Marcy Playground was done in by one awful single. Sex and Candy is terrible, and every other song I've heard from that band is livelier and better.

I'll be seeing Gaslight Anthem in Chapel Hill next month then Guided by Voices in Asheville in September. Really wanted to go to a festival in Atlanta with Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, and others but it's the one of the two Saturdays I have to work in the year.

Lucky bitch. I'm a big Gaslight Anthem fan. They're coming to Michigan later this year, but the show is 2 hours away. Or else I'd go. It's with Rise Against too

The fact that Metallica started up their own festival, Orion Music, and filled it with bands that whatever remnants of their fanbase probably don't care much about (hey, just like the last major tours they've done) pleases me in an odd manner.

Black Label Society is in Edmonton on Halloween. Best part about it's an +18 show, so no god damn kids are there.

Speaking of Zakk Wylde, a buddy of mine runs a restaurant down here and his kitchen manager went to the Sushi-Thai place next door after work and got shitty with Zakk Wylde. He had no clue who he was when we told him afterwards, but still a fun story.

Back on topic, Morrissey plays the Orange Peel in December and while his voice hasn't gotten any better over the years I still need to see him at least once before I die.

Zakk Wylde, apparently, started a barfight at the scuzziest dive in my hometown years ago the night before Ozzfest hit up here. I found this out from a cop because he came into the pizza place I was working at and saw my BLS shirt.
