I bought a massive amount of rice, beans, and some canned goods.
Also had planned and am still going to drive a few hours to see my grandma on Saturday, but now realizing that this is going to happen, this could be the last time. She has pretty much all the health conditions and the age of someone who would die, she lives like 90 minutes away from a hospital, and can't transport herself anywhere.
The good thing about elderly people is that they normally have less interaction with large groups of people where they could potentially contract the virus. If she lives in a rural enough area, it may have "moved on" or burned through the population before it reaches her area.
I have friends back home that live in an extremely rural area. Like "15 minute drive to the grocery store area." It's pretty crazy to think of them having contact with anyone who even has 2 to 3 degrees of separation from the virus source (it's a fairly poor area). I think America being so spread out could potentially help but once travel season starts it could blow up even those more rural areas.
