Beat DA2. The 2nd act should have been the third, it was way better and had an actual end boss that felt like a big battle.

I still haven't done my second playthrough of DA2 (female mage who supports the Templars 100%) ..maybe when I get my new CPU I'll do a Let's Play video series. :)

Really? I think the story was better, yeah. But I felt like the end battle with Meredith was pretty big and felt epic enough.

I find the game better on higher difficulty levels. The battles last longer and feel much more epic than on normal or casual mode.

I agree with this. Act 2 was a lot more interesting than Act 3.

We'll see how it plays out though, since Act 3 had a far-reaching effect on Thedas.

I played through the game supporting the Mages, but by the end I thought the Templars were actually more in the right. Never thought that would happen.

Apparently people are raving about Legacy. The end boss is supposedly one of the most challenging spanning both games.

I'm pretty wrapped up in NCAA football right now but I think I'm gonna have to get in to this. Even though DA2 was kind of a let down, at the core I'm a huge Dragon Age mark...can't stay away for too long.

They let you use your sibling in this one, too.. which is cool. I'd built Bethany up to be a kick ass mage when that bullshit went down in the Deep Roads. It's nice to have her back on the squad if even for only one mission.

They also patched auto-attack in for consoles (under Options > Gameplay). So if you hated spamming controller, you can give your thumb a rest now.

Isn't EA also doing their own Steam-style store called Origin? Hrmmmm..

I'm making progress but I'm stuck now. I'm in the Elven Mines and I sided with the huge golem because that lady shouldn't have trapped my party down there. That stupid dwarf I forced to take with me usually dies first. I keep telling my mage to use Lyrium potions when down on mana but I don't think it's working. I wish I had more Health Poluces.

Steam's TOS for Developers is that all DLC has to be available for purchase through the Steam client.

Beat the dlc. Was ok, killed a bored night at least. Last boss fight was very hard imo. Also apparently there is a secret boss that I missed.

This was a good DLC... a bit on the short side, but probably worth the money. I really loved how they made the Genlocks and they did a GREAT job with both the Genlock and Hurlock Alphas.

Corypheus was tough but not as tough as I was expecting. I also missed the secret boss, oops.

Dragon Age 3: Inquisition was officially announced. No details were given but they made the announcement due to leaks, etc.

I know a lot of people were really let down w/ DA:2, but I kind of enjoyed it despite recognizing the flaws. I'll get the new one day 1 as I still have hope in the series.

Given the title, I guess they're doing more with the chantry/seeker/mages vs. Templars stuff, huh? A bit disappointing. I really liked the characters and gameplay in DA2, but the overall tone, conflict, and themes really didn't stand out.

Given the ending of DA2 they pretty much had to keep with that theme. While DAO was better, I still really liked 2. With my only big complaints being A. The ending not really ending anything, and B. How insanely buggy the initial release was. It may not have been 'unplayably buggy' but it was still pretty unforgivable.

I know it's a nerdy thing to complain about but I hated how they removed the ability to customize your companions armor beyond two preset defaults. I liked the second game overall but it definitely felt like a step back from Origins, for me.

I liked how each side character had a quest that spanned all three acts. I liked that in Varric's he killed everyone w/ one shot a piece because he was telling the story. That was hilarious.

I liked what happened with Anders at the end.

I did not like how no matter which side you "chose" at the end, the same exact thing happened. The way I played the game, it made absolutely no sense for the head of the mages to turn on me like that.

Sounds like it takes place in Orlais, and you are in charge of the Inquisition (up to 10 companions) that's investigating everything going to shit (mage circles rebelling, Templars breaking away, civil war in Orlais). I find it odd you can play as a mage, given the status of mages at the end of 2..

You probably play a mage that is hiding that he is a mage... That's the only thing that would make sense. Or that you are totally oppressed or trying to prove that mages aren't all terrible or something.

Okay, none of that makes sense, but neither does the option to be a mage.

I expect it'll be something like "we'll harness your mage abilities to bring down other mages" or something.

Kotaku:

It will have improved level design over Dragon Age II. During the Dragon Age presentation at PAX East, the team announced in no uncertain terms that they had heard and understood the feedback about recycled environments from DA2 and would be avoiding a repeat.

Players will be visiting at least one city or other location in Orlais, Dragon Age's equivalent of France. In the game's lore, it's the home base of the Divine, who is more or less the reigning papal figure of Thedas—and who, as head of the Chantry of which both the Seekers and Templars are branches, may well be highly involved in the plot.

Players will be able to customize their companion characters' gear. BioWare have detailed at length, both in the PAX East presentation and on their blog, the way that they plan to blend unified, thematic visual appearances in the manner of DA2 with the armor customization from DA:O. Players may also be able to mess around with textiles and dyes.

Player decisions from the first two games will carry forward, creative director Mike Laidlaw confirmed at the same PAX East panel. Dragon Age II let players import a save from Dragon Age: Origins. If players didn't import, then at new game creation, they chose one of three possible predetermined sets of outcomes from the first game. Whether or not DA3 actually has save-game imports is still up in the air, but it seems likely to.

There will be an online or multiplayer component. No specifics have bubbled up yet, but Dragon Age III is guaranteed to have some kind of online or multiplayer element. Not only is EA actively and publicly putting online "universes" behind all of its games and series, but also lead writer David Gaider has confirmed as much on the forums.

Fall 2013 release. Only human character... Apparently not Hawke. Not 100% sure about that.

They also said they have one level built that's bigger than the entire 2 world, which is hilarious. Also slightly unbelievable...as repetitive as it was there were some decent sized areas.

Well, we lost a year since I last posted in here in October.

The good news is that it looks pretty damn great.

Nope. Bummer, but considering how rushed DA2 was, I'm not surprised they're giving this one a lot more time. Three and a half years is a long time between installments, though.

One sign of how good the first game was: anytime I read any article at all about the franchise, I'm sorely tempted to just start a new character and devote another 60 hours of my life to it.

Same! It was probably my first "epic" RPG on the PS3 and I absolutely loved it. I am very hyped that DA3 is open-world, as well. I hope it's back to the non-linear style of the original as well as far as quest progression goes.
