+ still won't be needed for shit it isn't needed for now.

Sounds like you'll need it to play multiplayer. A free PSN account let's you play single player and watch Netflix (that's basically what "media content" boils down to).

Oh, and SHOTS FIRED.

Yeah he really planned that out well to soften the blow of requiring Plus for multiplayer. So sneaky that I don't think most people even noticed it.

Sounds to me that MS is trying to drag everyone kicking and screaming into the "always connected" future, while Sony is taking a more methodical approach while sticking to what is working right now.

Ah well. I already have something like 2 years queued on my current sub, so I'm good. Even outside of that.. $5 a month is like not having a coffee at Starbucks one out of thirty-one days.. and even then I'd still probably have that coffee, too. ;)

I had assumed all the bullshit Microsoft is pulling was driving by developers, but if that were the case PS4 wouldn't have so many games.

Am I the only one surprised that it's been 22 years and the FPS genre is still super hot? I figured people would be tired of it 10 years ago.

Yeah, this generation is going to be won by who can find the middle ground between keeping developers happy while not completely screwing over the consumer.

10 years ago we were just getting good console FPS for the first time because of having dual analog sticks.

Bah, we had GoldenEye in 1997 and it was great.

Also I meant to place my comment as Pre-Halo, forgetting that 10 years ago was already 2003.

And then COD 4 hit in '07 which showed that console multiplayer actually can work really well outside of Halo.

I only got to see the Xbox briefing before going to work. I think at least the ea one was on spike while I had the DVR going. Was the ubisoft one sown on spike or do I have to go find it like the Sony one?

I really thought Sony's showing was pretty lackluster tonight. The Microsoft conference would have crushed it if not for that big moment at the end. Sony's strategy was pretty much just sit around and wait to announce that then win by default.

It was MS and EA on Spike, with some interviews/demos in between, as far as I remember.

dubq, I know Nintendo is doing something tomorrow afternoon but their Nintendo Direct is at 10AM EST and that's probably where they'll show off whatever big games they have so you should probably watch that.

Since it'll probably get changed soon
Jack Tretton[1] is the President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment of America (SCEA), a division of Sony Computer Entertainment, which is a subsidiary of Sony Corporation.[2] He is primarily responsible for the company's United States market. Jack committed a murder on June 10th, 2013, with his brutal slaying of Microsoft's Xbox One game console.
