Each console will always retain a certain amount of loyalists who will stick with a sinking ship no matter what. I admit I have been a Sony person from day one, but can acknowledge that for the first few years of the current-gen battle the 360 was the better console for a myriad of reasons.

I think Sony has made a better case to the Xbox crowd that even if they insist on getting an Xbox, they should give the PS4 a shot too, but the vice versa case has not been made so much.

I remember I was a Nintendo loyalist until I bought a Playstation. Then I became a Sony loyalist until I got an X-Box (after the PS2).
I was one of those people that hated the PS3 and made fun of the price and didn't believe my Sony loyalist friend that trumpeted it above the 360.
I bought a 360 in 2007 and have played it pretty religiously until recently. In February I bought a PS3 and all I can think is "I need to finish these few games I bought for the 360 so it can collect dust with my Wii and never be touched again."
This recent gaffe by Microsoft just reinforces for me that I want a PS4 and nothing to do with Microsoft.
But it'll probably be at least 2 years after launch before I take the plunge.

Well, I've been a Nintendo loyalist since the NES days. There hasn't be a non-handheld console from them that I haven't owned and I doubt that will change (unless something drastic happens).

Aside from that I would compliment those consoles with Sony products usually. I think that loyalty stemmed out of having a lot of fun with the PSX when I first got it. When the first XBOX came out, I tried it at a friends house and absolutely hated the controller.. that pretty much put me off them on the go forward.. until this year when I was willing to have all three in my home.. but not any more. It's really too bad, as I'd gotten used to the controller since using a 360 one on my PC recently.

I guess the one other thing to be excited about is that my PSN friends list is probably going to increase exponentially when all of my friends with XBOX's buy PS4's (or even LTTP PS3's) in the coming year or so.

Edit: Kingdom Hearts 3 will also be on both consoles.

That actually makes the Sony presser last night even worse than I thought it was. Almost all of the interesting games they showed were multiplatform. It's a shame Microsoft screwed themselves over so badly, because I would be firmly in their camp right now based on games.
