Eight and a half million people and THIS was the best option? New(s) York City thread

With all of the people in their 70s/80s dropping off this year and Mamdani polling so well? Maybe we see the Dems finally get the fucking hint.

I gotta say, the attempts to take Zohran down since he's overwhelmingly in the lead is pretty funny. Every right wing figure has ramped up the hate and it's only made him stronger.

"He eats rice weird so I'm gonna vote for the rapist".

Like I said before, strictly from a policy standpoint, I'm not totally in line with him (but he looks like Obama standing next to those two bozos) but I want to give him a try and see what he does. Can't get any worse at this point.

Just left my voting poll. I am in favor of pushing mayoral elections to presidential election years so you an vote for everything at once.

Dear Leader is so fuckin' dumb and pliable. Bet Mamdani went in there and lead with heaps of praise followed by little bits about his stances that sounded like a regular person talking. "Your building in Manhattan has always been one of my favorites in the city, the black facade was an inspired choice! I just want more people to be able to travel past it on buses!"

R's are all set to go in on "SCARY SOCIALIST THE NEW FACE OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY" and Trump blows it all up by being "love my new friend, this guy is awesome!"

Trump's incredibly easy to flatter, so none of this is shocking. He's like that boss everybody hates unless they know how to get to his good side.

I expected this to happen. Trump tends to avoid confrontation when he meets people for the first time, especially if they're charismatic. He didn't turn on Zelensky right away either, and no one here has to make the stands Zelensky does.

Seeing how badly this has upset conservatives on tv and online has been really amusing. TBH Trump's ability to just completely reverse himself seamlessly is something that is completely unique to him and can't be replicated by any of his future successors.

One of the things about Trump a lot of people don't seem to realize is that while he enjoys flattery, he seems to view those that grovel with disdain (see Elon Musk, though there's also just the fact he's Elon Musk). Mamdani didn't offer a lot of flattery, dissed the man and still showed up without having to suck up. I don't know if it's respect (I can't imagine Trump knows what that is), but he likely is impressed that Zohran even bothered to show up.

NYPD are claiming ice and rocks were thrown at the officers in question. Releasing the medical records of the injuries allegedly sustained would go a long way.
Rocks aren't acceptable yeah. Ice I think can happen by accident. Obviously I think we're all super skeptical of anything the police are saying. The NYPD police unions are especially notorious for being scum.
