The only legendary stuff I've come across has been melee weapons and I'm trying a stealth range build. The weapons seem pretty cool, I'd probably use them and love them if I was built for them.

I know pipe rifles are supposed to basically be starter weapons and be all over the place, but man, slap the automatic hardened receiver and you've got yourself a pretty good machine gun on your hands. I've got one with a glow sights (you don't need a scope, it's a short to mid range gun), a quick drum magazine, and a suppressor and it runs through mutants with very little raise since it's actually pretty steady. Sixteen damage a shot times 48 shots to a magazine means you can run through a mutant or raider camp. Does like to chew up ammo though, so have the scrounger perk active.

Yeah, my Armor B Gone is a pipe rifle and though it only does like 13 damage, the rate of fire and clip size makes up for it.

I also beat a Deathclaw with a silenced pistol last night. I am a god.

Very few weapons seem to use .38 ammo, so yeah, an upgraded auto pipe rifle is pretty dope for sprayin' and prayin'. I give all the random pipe weapons I pick up to my settlers since you don't get much cash for them.

My favorite weapon is my tricked out sniper rifle. I turned a crappy hunting rifle with a small scope into a head popping murder machine with enhanced criticals, and I can't wait until I can add night vision.

I got the named shotgun from Libertalia. I have it modded out to do almost 200 damage per shot.

I got an Explosive Powerful Shotgun from a Legendary Creature and it does 123 damage, plus the bullets explode on impact harming anyone in the way. It's awesome.

Just got the Spray N' Pray Tommy Gun from Cricket, a merchant in some tiny settlement in Boston for 1100 caps, only 10 damage per shot unmodded, but it also does 15 AOE explosive damage. Used it to clean out the mirelurks in the Lucky Irish Harbour. Lot of fun to use, can't wait to mod the shit out of it.

Cricket wanders around. I've seen her in front of Vault 81, wandering Boston and at Bunker Hill.

Here's what I use for weapons.

If you haven't done the Silver Shroud quest FUCKING DO IT ALREADY. My favorite questline of the game so far by a mile.

I would finish that quest but I have the bug that crashes the game if you go anywhere near Monsignor Plaza. I hope they fix it in their next patch.

Just did the Brotherhood of Steel mission you get after helping out with the radio signal and ran into a wave of enemies. There is a pretty cool optional way (comes on your screen so you won't miss it) of dealing with it that I recommend.

I found a 50 cal sniper rifle to replace Ol' Snipey.

This game reminds me a lot more of Skyrim than 3 actually in that the main story quest just seems to be a conduit for you to discover new locations and get sidetracked a million different ways.

I agree. I just completed one of the main quest missions, and walking back to Sanctuary came across a trailer park that was just stuffed with greatness. The main quest is appealing, but the world around it is an even better draw than 3's was. Like Skyrim, wandering to every corner of the world seems less restricted.

Is the main quest super short? I'm up to the point where I have to go to the glowing sea. How close is that to the end of the main storyline?

I'm there too and the XBox stats say I'm close to 50% game completion....but I don't know if that counts side missions too.

And fuck mirelurk hatchlings. Seriously.

I'm level 15 about 25 hours in, and only just did Fort Hagen. I bet 5 of those hours have just been tinkering with weapons and armor at the workbenches. I think I was done with vanilla Fallout 3--no DLC--in about 60 hours. Feels like this might go longer.

I had an incident with Swan earlier in the game and wound up going back there at level 19 to give it a real shot at killing him. Resolved to do it without power armor too, didn't want to be a bitch. That shit was HARD.

I'm bugged and can't die. Every time I should do, my character does the stimpack animation and I get healed to full. And all of my stimpacks heal rads.

I finished the game. Monsignor Plaza stopped bugging out for some reason, so I could complete the quests around it. Did anyone else finish it?

I went with the Institute because his son was running it. The last act of the game is really stupid though. The Institute messes with people on the surface and the Commonwealth hates it. They could continue their research without interfering with Boston. I hate how most of the missions are go do this and then see your son. I had trouble finding him because of how the Institute is laid out. I was also expecting a longer ending like New Vegas, telling me what happened to each faction. I hope the DLC is good for this game.

Has anybody experienced any difficulty getting Dogmeat to fetch the Cryolater? The reticle allows me to go over it but every time I tell him to grab it the dumb shit just wanders into the room next door.

Thought I saw someone say that was "fixed" in a patch....and of course I don't mean the problem your having fixed but fixed in as he can no longer fetch it.

I keep finding useless Legendary stuff, but I do have two pieces that are ridiculously awesome:
A piece of armor that triggers Jet-like slowdown when you hit 20% health, which is a free chance to shortcut Stimpak and use health items, and a Wounding 10mm gun that does 25 stacking bleed damage per shot. That gun just chews through anything it hits.

That said, fuck Super Mutants with missile launchers. Just running and gunning through a firefight and suddenly FSSSSSH *ominous You Just Died music hits as your arm flies off and your corpse ragdolls across the wastes*

You have to talkto Dogmeat and say fetch and then item. You can't just point him at it. That took me a minute to figure out myself.

Pretty lame actually. It's making the game not fun.
