I got it, but I didn't see what triggered it besides me getting seriously blowed up. I think it happened while I was trying to get past some power armor raiders in Lexington. Also encountered my first great gag on the way down to Diamond City.
Whack-a-molerat!

So dogmeat can be used to gain early access and by early I mean 30mins into the game early to get the cryogenic gen that was in overseers office in vault 111.

Yup, did that last night. Pretty awesome seeing Dogmeat walking around the Vault with it hanging out his mouth.

  • After playing for five hours, I have come up with following:
    • This is so much better than 3 and NV in terms of gameplay, graphics, sound, story, etc.
    • It's a lot harder than those games. All the Raiders in the game seem like a threat. Mole Rats come up from the ground. You don't know who is a friend or foe.
    • I like building things and looking for scrap. I build a lot of things because I'm too scared to leave the encampment.

How's the glitching? I've heard it's...abundant.

I'm unable to play it for some time, so I guess I'm waiting on patches.

I have spent probably 80% of my time with this game just building up Sanctuary.

I wish they had kept ammo recycling from NV but besides that there's not a lot I don't like about the game.

And I found my favorite Easter egg ever.

On the northwest corner of Boston Commons, they put Cheers

The only glitch I've noticed is that if land mines detonate, and then you load a save, the mines stay gone after you reload.

In terms of scale, this feels more like Skyrim than Fallout 3. Tons to do here, and none of it feeling like filler yet.

Walking into Diamond City for the first time is a fucking head trip. I like how they revere the Green Monster as a holy protector. Also, how one snooty woman brags about being from the "Upper Stands".

Apparently if you take Dogmeat back to the "You're Special!" book in your house, get next to the book, send Dogmeat to fetch it, then grab it right as he goes to pick it up, you're supposed to be able to use the book again to get another point. It's supposed to be repeatable, letting you max out your stats. Haven't tried it out yet, but the timing is supposed to be pretty tricky.

I got stuck in an elevator in Trinity Tower, which is apparently a common glitch. When I reloaded saves, I fell through the map into an untextured version of the environment. Fortunately, I was able to quit and load an earlier save without a problem. But, yeah. I'll have to try that quest again laster.

I've just started the main brother hood of steel quest line. Damn that airship entrance was sweeet. I've been traveling with piper, she loves me lock picking.

I have this game. Opened it, didn't put it in my Xbox One. I'm afraid I'll wind up not playing anything else that I own..

I kind of messed with the settlement building and I can see how some people would get way too involved in that part of the game. Especially when the mods start coming out.

I do like the radio station that is nothing but a detective show.

I'm travelling with Nick Valentine. He's a big fan of my lock picking and hacking.

Since weapons don't degrade anymore I have to wean myself off of picking up every single weapon like I did in 3. I've started doing the old "use companion as a pack mule" trick.

My weight limit is shit. I'm a gun whore because you never know when you will run out of ammo of a certain weapon. Then it leaves me constantly having to throw shit away.

And guns are fucking heavy in this one. The ones I drag around run from 13-19lbs, which is ridiculous.

For some reason I didn't realize I could dump my junk at the workbench and I'd been carrying the extra weight for some time.

The game does not really explain all those systems very well. At best they flash a quick tutorial message but most of the time you have to go to Help in the pause menu to read up on things.

I do really like the crafting system. Makes all the random shit you normally ignore actually useful.
