Whataburger still reigns supreme. They used to have one in Gainesville; don't know why it didn't succeed.

FUN FACT: Mark Brunell and Tony Boselli are responsible for bringing Whataburger to Jacksonville. They're co-owners of all the area franchises.

Yeah I've seen its closed down carcase. I had Whataburger when I went to Texas back when I was like 8, but I don't remember it much.

Wendys burgers used to be so much better quality. They're shit now compared to how good they were in the 90's

i agree with this. I used to love them as a kid, but I can't stand them anymore. It's not like my tastes have changed, I still like shitty fast food.

Their burgers used to be so JUICY slap some bbq sauce on dat and you're good to go. Now they're weak, but to be fair there might be regional differences between Cali and the Northeast.

I don't like how they moved away from the foil and instead packaged their burgers in paper and a ridiculous sleeve. If you're taking it home, all that really does is cause the grease to settle to one side of the burger. Also, losing the foil makes the burger cool down so very fast.

My local Wendy's sucks anyhow, and I would only recommend the chili at this point.

Back when I was in high school, the Texas Double Cheeseburger was 99 cents and even came with mustard, tomato, lettuce, and onions. Also, adding the chili sauce to the burgers worked out well.

One time I got a chilli at Wendy's and there was nearly half of an unchopped patty in there and it rocked iirc

A very strange thing happened to me at a particular In N Out. It was a unique flavor that I have never experienced before, or since.

I had my usual order of a hamburger sandwich and french fried potato garnish, and started to devour the fries on my way out the drive thru. But something was different. These were no ordinary fries.

THEY TASTED LIKE BEEF.

Somehow, someone must have gotten some of the juices and grease from the burgers in the fry cooker. The result was a fantastical beefy potato festival in my mouth, and only I was invited.

It must have been a mistake, because the next time I went to that location, the fries were back to normal. I want my beef fries back!

Yeah, I think I remember Sean Shannon being one of the vegetarians that got pissy and threw a fit about it.

Speaking of In N Out, I might get a chance to finally try one next week. As someone who has never been to one, what's absolutely essential that I try? Just a regular burger and fries?

When I worked at Burger King back when I was high school (mid 90's), the hash rounds/browns were fried in the same grease as the chicken and the fish.

Double Double (I'd say Animal style, but I don't know if you like a mustard fried patty)
Animal Style Fries (Fries with grilled onion, cheese and thousand island style spread)
Shake

I just had a Big Mac for the first time ever other day. Pretty decent, better than most trash I've tasted at McDonalds

Well I've been to Five Guys twice now, and I don't get why they serve their burgers smushed together in this foil wrap that makes them look like they've been stuck at the bottom of my backpack all day. It's decent tasting, but before I even get to look at the actual food it's already a mess. That they clearly ripped off In N Out with the interior design of the restaurants bothers me, too. Also, no shakes.

Double-Double Animal Style....they chop & grill the onions, add pickles, and throw on extra sauce. It is divine. Ever since I ordered my first one animal style many years ago, I can't go back to the normal way.

Well now seems like as good a time as any to ask. What is or whatever was the benefit of places like Carl's Jr. and Rally's opening restaurants that are the same thing but called Hardee's and Checker's around here?

Regional branding. When I was first seeing Carl's Jr. commercials on KTLA in the early 90s, I think it was unrelated to the Hardee's or Checkers I never went to in Detroit.

After a quick look at Carl's Jr Wiki, they merged with Hardee's and "rebranded" the places to look the same, but like Venk said, they wanted to keep a familiar name in the regions that already had Hardee's. Same reason Dreyers and Edy's are the same logo and packaging on different sides of the country.

I don't know if this is all over the U.S. but Burger King delivers now. I saw a BK delivery car in my neighborhood last week but thought it was too good to be true. Then my friend posted in Facebook a few days ago that they do in fact deliver. A quick check on their website confirms this.

McDonald's used to deliver in Canada until people realized they didn't want lukewarm burgers and soggy fries brought to them with a delivery charge plus a tip. The flip side to this was it was around the time they also sold pizza so people did use it for that.
