Maybe it's just nostalgia for me because I grew up really close to the one by the NBC Studios in Burbank. I met a lot of famous TV folk there and my brother worked at and dated practically every Mexican chick there, who'd then hook me up with free food. But I went to one in the burbs within the last year because my wife also had some nostalgia regarding it with her dad, and we liked it quite a bit.

Nostalgia is what compelled to go to it when I found out the city I was visiting at the time had one. I've had other people swear to me that Fuddruckers is still a decent fast-food burger, so I dunno. Maybe I went on a bad day? I just know what I had was not good.

I finally tried Five Guys. Good, but a bit disappointing. Everyone said their burgers are huge. Eh. I come from Hardees country.

I think the double patties are too much. Five Guys is almost a rip off because they give you so much that you can't even eat it all, which IMO doesn't justify the ELEVEN+ dollar price tag for a burger, fries, and a soda. Yeah, I'd rather have Hardee's too.

I didn't think it was too much at all, but I can eat a lot. A large Hardees combo is quite a task, though.

I haven't had a Hardee's burger in ages, but I remember them—as well as any of their other non-breakfast items—being pretty disgusting.

YOUR non-breakfast items are pretty disgusting, so howdayalike THAT?

I always liked Backyard Burger, but their locations seem to be few and far between and their burgers are somewhat on the smallish side.

I had In-N-Out once and nothing really struck me as exceptional about it. I'm not a big fan of the secret menu either. What's the point, are they just trying to be cute and/or different?

There's not that much of a "secret menu". It's not like you can secretly order a carne asada burrito or some pad thai or something and they'll just be like OHH YEAH. Just a few different variations on the burger. All there is to know is animal style (double everything, and you can do this on fries as well) and protein style (lettuce instead of a bun), in addition to mixing different flavors in a shake.

You can get single patties, but if you get double patties, you might as well not get fries or just get like the small fries and forget the soda.

It's just a Toronto chain, but there is one out in Calgary, South St. Burger is better than your typical fast food burgers we get here in Canada.

I got some BK coupons in the mail and tried one of these the other day. Thoroughly underwhelming. For something with bacon, swiss cheese and guacamole it had no flavor at all. It needed jalapenos or jalapeno swiss or something. I don't even know if it had onions on it. The mayo was a terrible touch, wish I'd known to ask for no mayo. Had no expectations for the guac, it wasn't as bad as it could have been, but it wasn't anything I'd ever want again.

Whatever, liberal.

Something that's always irked me about Wendy's has just been brought to my attention. Every one I've been to has the drink station behind the counter, so you have to ask for a refill. Are they all like that? If they have free refills why do they not just let us do it ourselves like every other restaurant?

Almost every Wendy's I have been to is like that. And my last job took me all around the country.

In N Out secret menu is just different stuff you can do to the burgers and fries. Animal style burger, animal style fries, cheese fries, cheese and spread fries, having more than two patties on a burger (3x3, 4x4, 5x5 etc), protein style burger, Neapolitan shake, XL shake, grilled onions and whole grilled onion are among the things I remember off the top of my head.

Wikipedia says:

There are, however, additional named items not on the menu, but available at every In-N-Out. These variations reside on the chain's "secret menu," though the menu is accessible on the company's web site. These variations include 3x3 (which has three patties and three slices of cheese), 4x4 (four patties and four slices of cheese), Neapolitan shakes, grilled cheese sandwich (comes with everything that the burgers come with except meat, plus two slices of melted cheese), veggie burgers (comes with everything that the burgers come with; is not an actual veggie patty, and does not come with cheese), and Animal Style, a house specialty that the company has trademarked because of its association with the chain. An Animal Style fry comes with two slices of melted cheese, spread, and grilled onions on top; Animal style burgers have mustard fried into the meat patties as they cook, and in addition to the lettuce and tomato it also includes pickles, grilled onions and extra spread.[30]

Until recently, it was a trademark of In-N-Out to accommodate burger orders of any size by adding patties at an additional cost. A particularly famous incident involving a 100x100 (100 patties, 100 slices of cheese) occurred in 2004.[31] Once word got out of the incredibly large sandwich, In-N-Out management disallowed anything larger than a 4x4.[32] However, one can order what is called a "Flying Dutchman" which consists of two meat patties and two slices of cheese by itself (no bun, condiments, or veggies).

Anyone try the new Wendy's burger? I guess it was alright, tasted really salty though.
I tried it and the only difference I noticed was that it didn't have mustard. They apparently changed everything on the burger but the ketchup, but it all seemed the same to me.

Like, it's called "Untitled New Wendy's Burger", or they changed the format of a standard burger for no acceptable to long time customers reason?

I was kind of bummed in 2007 or so when they dropped their Spicy Baconator or Jalapeno Bacon Classic... whichever burger had melted cheese and jalapeno, it was delicious. I'm sure my heart is happier.

I could only imagine how much a 100x100 cost. I'm guessing they have a built in price addition that just adds a fixed price per meat patty/cheese slice.

I guess to compete with fancy poutineries like Smoke's, Burger King has "bacon" and "angry" poutine now. I assume angry means jalapeno peppers.

There's no good god damn reason why poutine isn't popular in the US. It's a fat clogger mess! And it's delicious! I'm gonna fuckin' open a place. Fuck it.

I always figured poutine would be popular in the midwest. Re-name it "America: The Dish" or something.

Rally's and/or Checker's!!!

That shit is fucking awesome. If you've ever eaten there, you'll realize how terrible McDonalds, BK, and Wendy's hamburger meat tastes. Rally's/Checker's hamburger meat actually tastes like hamburger meat you'd buy at a grocery store. Not the typical salt patties you get at McDonalds or Wendy's. There's a reason to drive into the shitty part of the neighborhood, and that's to get to Rally's and get 2 for $4 Rally Bacon Cheese Burger. Best fast food french fries on the planet. They taste similar to Arby's fries, except if you add crack to them. Fresh fucking ingredients on the burgers too. None of that shredded lettuce core bullshit. Warning, you will stink like red onion afterwards. It's worth it though. You're probably going to wait forever in the drive through because they are slow as fuck.
