Get your ass on your phone and fix your fucking twitter right now! Part 3

Benoit's influence on how wrestlers work was gigantic. Benoit was very clearly a huge influence on Danielson and all of ROH and the US Indies. The match structure he and Angle helped get over in WWE still is everywhere.

I'm speaking of accomplisments and match quality. His style evolved and the business is better for it. Besides you can say someone like Stomper's influence on Stampede is responsible for where we are, too. I'm not saying this to change to a narrative of "Benoit was bad so was his fake fighting" like a lot of people try to but time has made me appreciate just there being more, if that makes sense.

Bad News might be on mine and I don't give a fuck.

If it's just a match quality thing then Benoit would be way higher up the list than a guy like Edge. Almost all of Edge's best work is gimmick stuff and I don't think it ages well at all. I wouldn't put Edge over a lot of Canadian wrestlers for match quality.

Edge’s enduring value is his quantity.

Simply producing at a upper level (aided by an long absence) this late in the game is a huge accomplishment but he’s not even the only Canadian blond doing that now and that guy is ahead of him so putting Edge in this hypothetical competition doesn’t square.

A lot of Edge's gimmick stuff ages decently for me. Good is good. The fact he also cultivated a character makes a difference as well. Both suffer a lot from hindsight-cringe at the stupid shit, of course, but Edge has had better matches than Benoit over the last ten years for sure.

I've heard the expression "The bar is in hell" before, but that's a little on the nose, don't you think?

I don’t mind Bailey’s tweet, he’s giving effusive praise to guys who hit their career highs.

My Canadian Mount Rushmore is something like Gene Kiniski, Bret Hart, Whipper Watson and Yvon Robert. Representing British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario and Quebec.

Edge’s best non gimmicked singles matches isn’t something that comes to you right away until you think on it and it’s probably the fucking pandemic match with Orton lol.

Oh the one match with Angle was good.

Benoit also committed cultural appropriation with his style so that should be another asterisk. The first asterisk.

Nobody threw Mad Dog Vachon's name in the hat yet.

Minus the World and World tag title runs, most of the footage we have of him was in his 40s and 50s and he's still a blast to watch then.

Vachon was mentioned earlier.

Hot(?) Take: I would put Christian above Zayn and very similar to Owens at this point in time. Owens should pass him, and I love Sami. But they are not there yet. Hopefully a lot more to come from them both.

And yes, I understand the main events of WM thing but this is also a totally different era where if there were not two nights, they wouldn’t have gone on last.

Why not throw Trish on it? Is there a more famous Canadian women's wrestler?

(waits for someone to name someone super obvious he forgot about)

I’d say we should go back go to talking about wrestling Twitter but given the state of Twitter…let’s debate and nail down the definitive list of the top 1000 Canadian pro wrestlers of all time .

NXT or ECW are pretty high though.

After the first handful of shows it isn't worth it, but I love those shows.

I don't like Omega (WHAT REALLY) but I'd put him over both Sami and KO.
I can't argue based on draw, buuuuuuut KO and Sami have literally stolen the show in every single company they've ever worked for, and there's never been a grumpy veteran that tried to pick a backstage fistfight with either of them.
