Opening day is here. Playoff predictions? Who will be the biggest surprise and who will be the biggest disappointment? Most importantly, how do you think YOUR home team will finish the year?

Boring WS Pick is Astros-Braves.

Surprise? I think this could be the year that the Angels will actually be decent and in Wild Card contention.

Vibes check is really telling me the Mets will have a tremendously disappointing season but since they’re constantly letting their fanbase down, is it really that much of a surprise?

I am mildly to moderately more optimistic about Red Sox’s chances this year. At the very least, I don’t think they’re exponentially worse than last season. Optimistically, if everything breaks right, Wild Card could be in play. Realistically, they are probably in the 75 to 80 wins range. I think a strong or at least .500 April and May will go a long way.

My vibes check vibes check right now is PRETTY GOOD.

I have had fleeting interest in baseball at best for the past few years so maybe it’s been a regular occurrence but I am really really liking that every team is playing on opening day. MLB is not NFL or NBA…don’t try to stagger out your “opening day” over 3 or 4 days!

Pretty stoked about this season. The Jays made some huge moves in the off season to change the overall makeup and chemistry of the team. Varsho, Belt, Kiermaier and Bassit were all great additions. Plus the presence of Don Mattingly on the bench. I think the team will be a lot more defensive based this year, a lot grittier and they also did some big renovations to the stadium. If Berrios and Kikuchi bounce back the starting rotation could be really strong as well.

Well, good news with this new pitch clock, these dispiriting 7-3 Red Sox losses will be an hour shorter.
Way to be a pre-emptive poster! ... the Sox lost 10-9 despite a spirited comeback :(

Devers had a clock violation but I think the pitcher had a violation at the start of the Casas at-bat as it was a 1-0 count but I don't recall seeing a pitch nor the announcers mentioning it despite the umpire pointing at the pitcher.

The announcers did the stupid "What about mythical Bases Loaded Game 7 World Series blah blah we should totally abolish this shit/change it for the playoffs durrrr" argument which goes against the entire point of the batters AND pitchers getting used to this. If some fuck can't figure out the clock by the World Series, they deserve to lose and get a violation.

We had an epic 10-9 game that went three hours and fifteen minutes instead of the 4-5 it would have taken pre pitch clock. It is a win for baseball and maybe a Pyrrhic victory for the Orioles today. Curious to see what happens the rest of this weekend. I’m still a believer, @HarleyQuinn !

Colorado became the first team in the Modern Era (since 1900) to have 17 or more hits while also striking out 17 or more times in a nine-inning game, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

Love how the Mets did nothing to improve their offense this off season. Acting like it wasn't putrid for long stretches last season.

Think Kamala is right that this team is going to massively disappoint this season.

(Last season I thought they'd be much better. Not 101 wins but way better so not just being negative for the sake of being negative)

It’s just one series but my “Red Sox might not be that bad.” Prediction actually looks good so far!

Scoring 8+ runs every game is gonna help with their banged up (and in the case of the bullpen, not very good) pitching staff, at least.

For the first weekend of the season average game length was down 29 minutes from last season.

6 games played. Shutout twice and scored one run in another game. Yep didn't need to fix the offense at all. Nope.

11 out of 13 AAA games yesterday outdrew the Oakland A’s attendance of 3,407.

It’s sad that baseball (and major professional sports in general) is good as gone in Oakland. That city has much more important things to worry about though than building a damn ballpark.

It seems like the last place to see a baseball game without the frills. Even Fenway has a GD LASER SHOW after every Red Sox home run now.

I’m all for the fan experience evolving but do we need a LITERAL LASER SHOW after a home run to cut the deficit to 10-3?

Other than my "all 30 ballparks" thing I'm working on, this is the reason I'm excited. The last old school multi-purpose venue. Ownership that doesn't care so there won't be a dumb laser show. Ugly, crumbling concrete everywhere? Oh hell yeah. Bring it on.

I've long maintained sports are more enjoyable the less people care about them.

I love a Sea Dogs game pre Memorial Day or post Labor Day where there’s less than 1,000 people in the stands. You aren’t there unless you care.

A’s have lowest attendance but in terms of percentage of people in the audience that really care about what is happening in the game versus drinking beer, eating a bratwurst and people watching has to be one of the highest. You couldn’t tell there were only 3,407 people in the stadium with the way the crowd reacted during the walkoff.

Were you in a coma in 2004 & 2005?

I wish I had been.
Eh, the WS loss and growing up in the 90s with Atlanta seemingly always being there to end our post-season isn't washed away by 04/05, at least in my opinion.
