San Diego just traded Phillip Rivers (or he held out for more money and they released him, either way he's not on San Diego anymore) and found themselves their quarterback of the future in free agency
Charger fans rejoice, the Losman era has begun!

The "Could This Be The One?" Madden Moment makes me want to fucking shoot myself. Hours and hours of attempting to beat it. I've come close three or four times. Once, I missed the 2-pt conversion, but recovered an onside kick and then moved the ball to a bit past midfield, missed a 54-yard field goal. Agonizing. Another time I got the TD, 2-pt conversion and actually STOPPED the Redskins in OT, but I couldn't do anything on offense either and ended in a tie. Even more frustrating. That should kind of count because I mean come on, it's not a loss right? For the Lions that's quite a victory.

Oddly enough I crushed just about every other Madden Moment with relative ease, with the exception of the one where you're playing as the Eagles on 4th down with 12(?) seconds left in the game, which took me a few tries but nowhere near as much as this one. My god.

I know I said I was going to create the PS3 online franchise at least a week or two ago, but I ended up getting really busy lately and wasn't able to start it, or even play the game much at all.

But, I am still going to start it for those who want in, although last I checked, it was just me, Cartman, and NoCalMike. Me and Cartman are set for two AFC East teams, and NoCalMike has the Redskins in the NFC East. Since there's apparently only going to be the three of us, I was wondering if you guys wanted to all go into the same division so we get more games with each other. I assume the best way would be for NCM to choose either the Bills or Dolphins in the AFC East, but we can go another way. I'm fine with taking the Giants to go in the NFC East, or even someone else if we want a different division all together.

If you guys both want to just stick with the teams as is, that's fine, too. Just let me know how you want it. Same rule settings as mentioned earlier, and I think it'd be best to set trading as on, but with no CPU trades, based on earlier talk saying that the CPU still makes illogical trades. If someone strongly wants it another way, just say so. Also, assuming it can be turned off, I'm thinking no on Fight for the Fumble, as I've been getting really annoyed with it lately. Again, let me know if you feel differently.

I would love to have the fight for the fumble thing turned off. If the CPU is that bad I dont mind keeping the trading off at all. As for the team it really doesn't matter to me. Are we doing teams as is or a draft?

I assumed teams as is, but if you guys want to try a fantasy draft out, that's fine by me.

Shit, I think I figured out All-Pro. Turned both INT sliders down to 0 and I'm suddenly 11-0 and I'm blowing out everybody I play with the patchjob Panthers.

Protip: use the right bumper to sub in HB#2 for some formations, because the defense doesn't do formation subs. They'll get gassed and you can start driving down the field on them.

Just got my copy from SI, so I'll be diving into this game tonight. I ordered it around 2 1/2 weeks ago, so for saving $10 and getting SI for free I'm very happy with that deal.

I was just coming on here to post this. Fucking HATE this one. I've tried it at least 30 times. Just as I was posting, I scored, got the two point conversion, kicked off with 15 seconds left. Washington just ran a handoff up the gut to Portis to run the clock out, he fucking breaks about 8 tackles, bounces to the outside, leaps over my CB and breaks another tackle and runs about 80 yards to the end zone.

I don't know what it is about this one. It seems like everyone on the Redskins plays like a 99 overall and everyone on Detroit plays like complete shit. The QB's both suck and the WR's, save for Calvin Johnson who is always double teamed, drop everything.

Seriously. To combat this, I tried changing the difficulty and adjusting sliders. Nothing worked, it seems like Madden Moments has their own difficulty locked in place or something. So what am I doing? I went into the Lions roster and changed Culpepper's accuracy stats to 99 and his receivers' catching ability to 99. I've tried it a couple times and FINALLY scored a touchdown, but since I didn't adjust the defense (hey I need something of a challenge so I don't feel too much like a cheater) the same exact thing that happened to Loaded Glove happened to me. I'm taking a bit of a break before I come back to play my online franchise. I wonder if anyone's been able to beat it yet here. I really don't think it's a player skill level thing. You're down by 8 points with less than two minutes left and no timeouts, playing with the absolute worst team in the league against a pretty solid defense. It is really difficult.

I got the first copy of SI anyways and I was pretty disappointed in the mag. It's like 50 pages! At least half of which are ads, too.

So my own franchise is winding down, as I'm just about to do the Divisional Playoffs. As the Jets, I went 14-2 to win the AFC East, forcing the 14-2 Pats to settle for a Wildcard spot, where they lost to the Colts. I'm actually not looking forward to the Colts game, since when I played them in Week 16, I was down 17-0 to start the 4th quarter. I made the miraculous comeback, however, and won the game 21-20 in one of my better wins, but that game was hell for the first 3/4. The only teams I lost to were the Texans in Week 1, in a crazy game that I lost 45-52, and the Bills somewhere in the middle. If I can get by the Colts, I assume I'm looking toward an AFC Championship game with the 15-1 Steelers.

Sidenotes:

The Texans were quite a machine early on in the season, contrarily to the Colts who started 0-5 before eventually just barely edging them out to win the division.

The Dolphins suffered QB injury after QB injury, as Pennington apparently went out by week 2-3 and was out the rest of the season. Not long after, Pat White and Chad Henne went down, too, but they luckily had signed QB Gus Frerotte from free agency a week before Henne was out. I was disappointed that I didn't get to see the punter take over QB duties. That said, they still performed miserably throughout the season.

The saddest story of the season: San Francisco started the season 5-0, and finished 6-10, with that extra win only coming in Week 16 against the Lions.

FINALLY beat that fucking Lions Madden Moment. I adopted the strategy of just sending Calvin Johnson on a streak and throwing a bomb to him on my first four downs. If I didn't complete one, then I'd quit and start over. Usually he'll get single coverage on one or two plays and you can hit him for a good 50-60 yard gain there. It worked better for me than trying to drive down the field with Detroit, which is essentially impossible in this one. So I hit Johnson with a deep pass on first down, then hit Smith coming out of the backfield for a TD on the second play, got the conversion. In OT, I won the toss and just moved the ball down the field with the running game to get in FG range. Fuck you, Detroit Lions.

Good for you. I ended up getting frustrated with it all and I changed the ratings of Culpepper and Johnson's ability, as well as the Redskin corner's and safety's rating way the hell down. Is that cheating? You bet it is. You'd do it too if you spent as much time on it as I did. But at least I still had to get the 2PC as well as stopping the 'Skins twice- once in regulation and again in overtime because they won the coin toss. Fucking game made me earn it somehow.

VX this is because it knew you were cheating and as they say, cheaters never prosper! Seriously, this game sometimes does some weird things.

Also, is there any way to make sure that when you use NCAA to draft players, they stay the fucking same draft position each time you load it up. Its rediculous that the WR that ran a 4.27 and a speedster, and he is now running a 4.56 and a possession receiver.

I mean I get it if its like a totally different load file, but not the same one. Ridiculous! Why can't EA just make it so that it actually recognizes the players stats and USES them to actively make a case for a players draft position. Also, if someone doesn't get drafted, fill up the FA with them. I want to go out and sign a player to nothing whom I can tell will be a great player who was passed over for whatever reason (most liekly becuase they would be projects).

Also, I give up on my Bills dynasty. The injuries kept pilling up no matter what I was doing with the injury slider (besides moving it all the way to 0) so I decided that I'll find another team to blow up. Probably gonna try with the Rams and move them to like Los Angeles.

Also, is it just me or have they actually been taking out features that used to be in the game? I used to have my roster in my franchise set up in such a manner that I had different guys starting at a position depending on what defensive set I had, or switched up which receiver was on which side because of the set of plays I might use. Used to be you could change that. Also, I remember when you could make up your own playbook, designed off another coach's playbook. I'm guessing the latter is gone because of the debacle that was Head Coach last year, but why would they take out the first option? Does anyone know or am I just not seeing the option to do so?

So after my first season with the Raiders ended with a 15-1 record I've decided I should probably up the difficulty from pro to all-pro, although it's not like I'm blowing out anybody, most every game has been close. I'm usually never good enough for all-pro, so I suspect I'm going to get sodomized, and will probably end up adjusting the custom difficulty to all 7's or 8's, instead of all-pro's 10. We shall see.

I really like this years game though. It seems like it takes longer to throw the ball, and I get hit while throwing a lot more, but I'm not getting sacked before I ever get a chance to even look for a receiver, so I like it.

Yes, there was an option formerly were you could set who would play during what formation there was. It was what I used to run a dual back set. I have no idea what they've done with it. I'm assuming its still there, but good luck finding it.

The reason why create a playbook was taken out, is simply because it probably takes up too much space for other things. What these other things are, I can only guess as being "Fight For The Fumble" or Pro-Tak. So that's probably why its no longer in.

Also, still can't think of which team to blow up. I mean all of the following have such good things to blow them up for:

Bengals - Hey, I can get rid of all the malcontents! Huzzah! Its also the Bungals, so that right there is a plus in my books.

Bills - To Toronto! <_< Yeah... That's about the only reason for blowing them up.

Browns - A team that's got an aging defense, and a really bad offense. Put the two together and you've got a recipe for disaster!

Bucs - The team is an absolute mess. Might be fun trying to figure out who should stay, go, and go "hey, I've got this guy here, can get a football for him?"

49ers - Hey, you honestly can't tell me that the 49ers couldn't use a blow up. Sure, I'd waste a year, maybe two of Gore, but hey, I could win the SuperBowl in a year.

Lions - They've got Stafford and Megatron, so I'd rather not use them...

Pats - Now I know what you are saying "what the hell are the Pats doing on this list?". Who said I'd blow up only bad teams? Blowing up a good team can be just as fun! ...really! <_<

Raiders - Yeah, Al Davis dies and I take over. Simply and easy.

Rams - This team so needs help nearly everywhere, that its not funny.

Texans - Does this one really need to be explained? Lack of a secondary, lack of a QB that will last more than 4 years, and the linebackers just blow. Also no real depth either.

Right bumper on whatever playbook you want to formation sub, and change players there. It's a pain in the ass because you have to do it with the play clock running but once you change the player you want it stays that way.

Offline franchise, just finished the season 16-0. Scored 650+ points and had Stewart with 22 TDs & Williams with 14 on the ground (White at QB had like, 8), so I guess I need to up the run difficulty.

Using the My Skill option my sliders are at Rush - 20/20, Pass D 19/20, Rush D, 19/20 and Pass: 8/20.

I think I might move up to All Madden.

Unfortunately I prefer to pass but that's the one thing I still have problems with. When you want to throw to your #1 option, it's hard to look away sometimes. Ha.

I hate my buddy, John. The bastard told me to take the Lions and decimate them and fill the team with B potential players but no player could be over 80 except the offensive line. The biggest stipulation is that I had to trade away my #1 overall draft pick for this coming year to make sure I build on the players I have.

So I played my first game with my scrubs who just barely get me to 71 overall. I managed to turn the ball over 4 times via interceptions, let DeAngelo Williams rush for 509 yards and allowed 60 points. I lost my starting TE for 10 weeks due to a broken collarbone.

What was the good news? I managed to hold the passing game to only 99 yards, I also managed to to throw for 500 yards and 4 TDS with Lundy (I'm so getting this guy's real name), had my half back and my slot receiver with over 150 yards each, and managed to keep it relatively close at 47, because they didn't get to 60, till I got sacked on a 4th down with 2 minutes left.

But geezus that friend of mine is a complete bastard. >_< If this is my team for the full season, I'm screwed.

For the rest of the game, or the rest of the season? I want it to work on the latter.

Basically I'm trying to get it so that Aaron Kampman is playing end on passing downs, with BJ Raji sliding over to play noseguard when the Pack lines up with 4 down linemen. I tried to get around this by simply listing Kampman behind Raji on the depth chart, with Raji being the guy behind Ryan Pickett on the DT depth chart, but instead of doing what I wanted it to, it just skipped Raji on the depth chart and put in my #3 DT.

I also have a lot of passing downs where I prefer Driver on the right side or Jennings in the slot, stuff like that. It would just be nice to have my preferences changed permanently. Not sure why EA had to make it so complicated.

I finally figured out Fight for the Fumble and have won the last three or so times that I've gotten it, so that's a big plus. Basically the second a fight breaks out, start mashing any button and then button mash away on the button it says to. You can't wait for the game to come up to start button mashing, which is what I was doing and I couldn't figure out why I started out the game every time with the fight way in favor of the other team.

Rest of the season for sure, might be forever, I just started year 4 of franchise (went 19-0 last time, so when the preseason brought me 2 injured offensive linemen and an injured free safety I went for it to give myself some sort of challenge, for all 0 of you who care) so I'll know for sure the next time I play.
