TSM Madden NFL 10 League- Season 2, Week 11

Well, just finished my game against the Bucs and it seems like I have a winner for strategies! I am the awesome!

Matt Ryan attempted 13 passes, completed 10 of them for 267 yards and 4 scores. He also had an INT because I'm a dumb ass and threw it to the wrong person, he was totally covered.

Michael Turner had another Michael Turner game. 19 attempts for 154 yards and he also racked up another 3 scores.

As you may have noticed, I tossed for above 250 yards again. This would be because White nabbed the ball 4 times and he made them pay for 122 yars and 2 scores. Bellows also was in the action for 3 receptions for 112 yards and a score.

Michael Peterson also had a solo which was a sack and an INT for a TD.

Lee Carter finally proved worth being a draft pick (C potential, so he's not going to get much better ... sigh ...) with 4 solos and an INT for his credit.

This 56-10 win was definitely worth it. I just wish I didn't do two stupid things. Calling a blitz and giving up up a TD, and also throwing the ball to the wrong person and causing Ryan to have an INT.

I'm really glad I figured out which playbook was suitable for what I like doing with my team and thankfully it didn't kill Turner's awesomeness.

And, as we approach the end of the 2nd season, I want to ask: Who's coming back for a third? The third season will be our final season on Madden 10. We probably won't finish it until a few weeks before Madden 11 comes out. But of course, I will be making a league for that.

In the Madden 11 league, to be fair, we will hold a lottery for choosing teams. I will use random.org and put all our names in to determine an order for choosing. Sound good?

I got up on Baltimore 26-0 after they threw me 3 INTs in the first half and then I just ran the ball and ran out the clock on them for the whole second half. And, yeah, I mean the entire second half.

I would never do that in a player vs. player game...but I just wasn't feeling it yesterday and decided to run the clock out.

Though Matt, I think what we should do instead of having a random lottery is discuss which team suits our style of play. I haven't played every team in the game, but I'm certain that there's probably better teams out there than my Falcons for my Balanced Offense and 3-4 Defense.

I think I'm going to try running a 46 and Multiple D to see what those defensive playbooks are like, because I'm able to draft great LBs during the offseason in the regular franchise.

I'm totally against the random issue only because if I play in a Madden league, I want to play as the Texans. There's really no other team that I'd want to play as..I mean, maybe Pittsburgh or Atlanta but I'd be a bit bummed if I couldn't play as my hometown team.

I think that whoever has the better overall record (winning percentage) from this Franchise should be able to get to choose which teams they get. Meaning like me, I had a 6-2 record in my first season (I think, I'll need to double check that), before I had to quit because I couldn't get my games in. I have an 11-1 record in my full second season. So right now I have a record of 17-3. Meaning my winning percentage is currently 85%, so if someone doesn't have a better winning percentage than me, I would get first dibs on any team I want.

I think that would be fair as it allows the people who are good at the game or put the most into this franchise to get their chance to play first.

If the person is a new person who joins the franchise, its first come first serve after the original franchise players choose.

And I just had a devasting blow to my season. On my third play into my game, Michael Turner goes down with a broken collarbone. So here I am, playing a run heavy offense and now I gotta switch it up to a pass offense. Ugh... Couldn't believe it.

Thankfully, I managed not to screw up too badly, winning 20-7, though I gave up 3 turnovers that nearly killed me. 2 INTs on the start of drives (really bad passes) and a fumble after a pass (Bellow you BITCH).

Matt Ryan went 18 of 22 for 217 yards. As I mentioned before, two really shitty passes ended up for INTs, but at least I got two scores.

My running game as a whole went 22 attempts for a pathetic 75 yards. Michael Turner had 3 of those attempts for 11, so that means my running game went 19 and got me 64 yards. ...yeah, I'm in trouble. And yes, Maroney had the most touches with 10 for 41 yards, because Norwood also got injuried. Thankfully Norwood came back, but neither man stood out.

My receivers did the jobs they needed to do in my time of crisis. Gonzalez got me 27 yards on 2 receptions, Bellows had 8 receptions for 112 yards and 2 scores (also a fumble, the jerk), and White had 5 receptions for 49 yards (ugh). Since my team is going to be pass happy now, I'll need to shift Bellows from his customary slot receiving to the 2. Hopefully it doesn't effect his production.

Carter was once again a force on defense with an INT and a sack. While Davis had a sack and a forced fumble. And Robinson did something by getting me another INT. So the defense thankfully did their job because I really can't afford any screw ups with Turner out for 5 more weeks.

I really need that bye week now. And even then, I'm missing him for my playoff game. BTW, Bro, enjoy Mario's uncontested MVP now.

The Lions came into Buffalo, but got lost somewhere on their way to the field. They had a grand total of FIVE yards in the first half, and didn't get their first 1st down until 2:19 was left in the game.

Staffords line at one point was 1-12 for 2 yards with 2 INTs.

Edwards meanwhile was 10/14 for 142 yards with 2 TDs, Marshawn Lynch ran for 146 yards on 24 carries with 3 TDs, and Fred Jackson added another 44 yards and 1 TD on 7 carries, as the Bills romp Detroit 45-0.

Texans shut out the Jaguars...Slaton returned to the field and had a good game. Three total scores and Mario continued on his path to an MVP with a five tackle, five sack game to give him 30 on the season.

Leo just played his game, so we're waiting on Venom. I sent him a message on Facebook. My friend Its Orange Baby joined as well, as Minnesota, may play tonight. Regardless, we sim tomorrow. It turns out that I'm going to a Kings watch party in Ontario, so I won't advance till I get home, between 1:30-2 A.M. Eastern.

As for week 15, the only head to head game is me vs. Venom, so I'd like to make it a short week. However, I need to find out when he'll be back from Baltimore. He's going there (from Rhode Island) for Extreme Rules, but hopefully he'll be back on Monday.

EDIT: Just checked. Orange played his game right after joining. Awesome.

In bad news, we only have a total of 2 head to head games left in the regular season- me vs. Venom in week 15, and VX vs. Orange in week 17. But hey, playoffs!

This is unrelated to this league, but in another league where I'm playing as the Panthers, this is seriously the worst season of Madden I've ever had. Game 3 of the season: DeAngelo Williams goes down with a Herniated Disk, out 11 weeks. Week 9: Malcolm Finley (starting FS) gets an abdominal tear, out 4 weeks. Week 10: Steve Smith also goes down with a Herniated Disk, out 11 weeks. Then later in the same fucking game, Brian Cardinal (starting QB) suffers a broken collarbone, out 10 weeks.

Fuck this season.

Went to a watch party for the Kings game, got home around 2 A.M. Eastern, and joined my NHL 10 team for some online team play. Just got done a short while ago. I'm advancing now. Let's set the deadline for Tuesday at midnight Eastern due to my game being the only user vs. user game... though I may extend it by a day since I'm not sure when my opponent is returning from Baltimore, although I believe he'll be back by Tuesday at the latest.

~ Seriously, we need more real people. I mean, how many more teams do I need to kill by ubers? I think I have the highest PF in the whole league. Worse, I really was not trying to hammer them this time.


Buccaneers rushing game - 5 yards
Falcons rushing game - 62 yards

~ Nothing really unusual here. I always have a strong rushing defense, but it wasn't till the third quarter till they got to the positive side of the ball. I'm getting a little upset though that Maroney continues to have a better rushing average than Norwood. I think I'm putting him as the #2 and see how that works next week.

Norwood 13 for 52 yards, Maroney 2 for 10 yards.


Buccaneers passing game - 152 yards
Falcons passing game - 520 yards

~ I'm actually impressed with my pass defense. I haven't held anyone to under 200 yards, so that was a huge accomplishment. But I think the bigger thing was I figured out something that allowed me to utilize my defensive line a little better so that I can really get the pressure on the QB. I'm not sure why the one thing I did is making such a huge difference, but it is working, so I'll continue with it. I'd say what, but you guys would likely then figure out how to neutralize it, and I need all the help I can get for my SuperBowl run.

~ Oh, yeah. Matt had a really good passing day. There wasn't anything specific that I was doing, but rather Tampa Bay really doesn't want to bother trying to cover Bellows, so I just exploited that and burned them badly. Or rather he did, cause I didn't really do much.

Matt went 24 for 28 and 8 TDs, so a very good game from him. Bellows had a great game snagging 16 for 408 and 7 TDs. White also contributed well going 4 for 60. Jamaal and Okoye both had 2 sacks, with Peterson and Lofton adding a solo a piece to give 6 in total.

Overall a very strong performance which proves that life can and will go on without Turner, but that also kills any hopes of a sympathy vote MVP shot for Turner.

Schaub had an okay day..but Mario stole the show. Seven sacks to push his total to 37 and be one sack away from totaling #'s 2-5 below him.

Oh yeah, Peyton sucked throwing. I think he had less than 80yds total...and only like, less than 30 at the half...which I think was more like 2.

Oh, I totally understand that. You can change your settings to "Appear offline" in the Preferences menu, but all that does it make it say you aren't online at the time. It still lists your played games, last time on, and it goes away next time you sign on. What I'm referring to is a permanent (well, unless you go on the site and change it) deal where it just says "Offline" with no other info.
