Yeah, moving that stuff to the D-pad makes it awkward to do adjustments.

I need to download the NCAA demo to see if I'll like that more.

Is gamestop or anywhere having a special deal for a trade in or something along those lines for Madden 11?

I don't know about the US of A, but in Canada, EB is having that. Or at least they were up to a certain date.

Target online appears to have it for $50.

EDIT: Looks like people on craigslist are already selling copies.

Have you guys seen some of the absolutely ridiculous prices people are paying to get this game early? You should check out eBay. It's pretty funny.

Apparently one dude paid over $200 for it.

He should have gone to cragislist. I've seen people on there selling it for $59. (The range is generally $59-70..one or two looking for $100)

Maybe the guy lives in alaska...and he probably won't get it till Tuesday anyway.

What's the deal with the audio?

I couldn't stand the whole gameflow/coach-in-your-headset thing, so I turned it off after one drive on the demo. Instead of going back to normal, now it's just dead silence in the stadium until you snap the ball, with some weak crowd noise once the play starts. Before the snap, you can actually hear the QB's voice echoing throughout the stadium. Weird. Hope that's just a demo thing.

Well due money issues and the fact that the game comes out tomorrow night @ midnight, I will not be able to get the game until the following week, probably a week from Thursday. Damn.

Well I was able to finagle some finances around and I can get Madden 11 tonight. Plus I am starting part time work so I am good to go.

WTF...Madden 10 was worth only $2.54 in trade in value? Lowest it has ever been. Years past it was always at least $10-12. Fuck.

Ok, gonna go lineup at Gamestop now!

I picked it up this morning, just finished my first game. Since the Jets were already in the demo, I opted to go with Packers vs. Vikings.

First thing that's immediately a nice touch is pre-game commentary. The pre-game visuals look basically identical, but the commentators actually make mention of not only the rivalry but also Favre on the Vikings.

The commentary isn't nearly as inconsistent as it was in the demo. It's still got its share of problems (big surprise) but Gus Johnson is definitely a huge step up due to the excitement alone. After picking off Favre's deep pass, hearing Gus yell, "HE'S GOT IT!" as opposed to Hammond's half-excited, "Interception" is great.

It looks like the NFL's new playoff OT rules are in the game, which I completely forgot about. As soon as OT started, text came on the screen to lay out the new rules, but the game ultimately ended on a touchdown, anyway. Granted, this was just an exhibition, so I'm wondering if it applies only to the playoffs in Franchise. I'm probably going to wait until final rosters are available to download before I start a season.

This was in the demo, too, but is anyone else finding returning kickoffs to be overly difficult? I appreciate some added challenge since last year's game had me averaging returns to the 40-50 yard line, but I'm lucky if I can make it to the 15 this year.

Normally I buy this on release day every year but I'm considering skipping out on Madden this year altogether. It bothers me that EA continues to ignore the clear need to improve franchise mode, instead focusing on lame features to appeal to the casual fans. Online Franchise was a fucking joke last year, and to my understanding they didn't even touch it this year. Very disappointing, EA.

Regarding online franchise: "nobody played it, so why waste time upgrading it" (to which the operationsports crowd immediately yelled "If it worked worth a shit & had the features it should have had we would've played it").

Question from the guy who's only had his 360 for one year: will EA still provide roster updates and other live support for Madden '10 now that the new one is out? I'm guessing they do not.

Roster updates end right after the Super Bowl each year, as up-to-date rosters are part of the selling point each year. Not sure about online, but I believe most sports games offer online support for at least another year or two.

Thanks. That's what I figured. That moves Madden '11 from "no chance in hell of buying" to the "yeah, maybe" for me.

Just as a follow-up to this, I was playing a game before and managed to easily return two kickoffs for TDs with Reggie Bush against the Bucs, so maybe it really is just that player/team-specific.

That's pretty much it.

How the hell do you release a mode like Online Franchise without a salary cap, trade logic, etc? Bullshit.

FWIW, in an interview with EA a month or so back when they mentioned that there were next to no changes made for regular and online Franchise modes, they did mention that a major upgrade is a priority for 2012... not that it's an excuse for this year.

Yeah, that's a bit bullshit though, and the same shit they always pull. It seems like they either barely ration out improvements, or make it seem like they do (i.e pretty much all the maddens on the next gen consoles were bullshit bar '10, with some weird resi4-esque viewpoint and bullshit physics/reality. All they did was go back to the original (being used for PS2) version and sold it as a brand new system/ style etc.

So I assume we'll wait for opening week rosters before setting up an online franchise? And let's hope that this one doesn't lead to a banning. And that I don't lose Brady in week 3.
