I've gotta hurry up and beat Mass Effect 2 by then. I've finished all the side missions I could so far leading up to and just after Horizon, so I figure I've still got a ways to go.

Keith David was criminally underused in 2 so I'm glad he seems to have a bigger role in 3. I guess they got Jessica Chobot because Olivia Munn didn't return their calls for a character to pander to the nerds.

I read that at some point in the game, probably early on, Anderson is actually a part of your party.

ME's All That, starring Freddie Prinze Jr. as James Vega. Awesome.

Well it's Mass Effect...so I'll enjoy nailing Jessica Chobot.

Just got done playing the single player part of the demo. Multiplayer servers aren't up yet. Combat definitely seems more visceral, with near misses zipping past the camera and bouncing off walls. Killing headshots reward you with a nice exploding head effect and quick blood fountain. Cover doesn't seem as all powerful, as the enemy seems a lot more willing to flank. All in all, a lot more fast paced action.

The whole Facebook marketing mechanism is weird. I mean, I get they want people to install the app and drive eyes on newsfeeds to the existence of ME3, but one would think they'd at least offer early access to folks who preordered. I'm not that chafed since I probably wasn't going to play a demo anyway, but it is a little odd to have doling out of access codes being totally randomized even after you install the app.

Nice I don't think I want to play the demo as I will then have to repeat it when I get the game. And that bugs me.

The demo itself isn't that long and it only covers what we've already seen in promos (invasion of Earth and the female krogan) so it didn't really spoil anything. I really did it to get a feel for combat more than anything.

The facebook game is basically luck and takes about 2 minutes, so I figured why not.

This is why I hardly ever play demos unless I honestly don't know if i want the game ahead of time. I know I love the Mass Effect games...so there's no point in playing this to play it again in March. But with something like Kingdoms of Amalur...the demo pushed me to buy it.

Then of course I had to replay the same bit and it was still annoying.

If anyone gets a demo code they don't want, holler. I want to play around with the combat a bit and I haven't been able to win one today, despite a few tries.

You don't unlock anything to use in the final game when you play the demo, right? If so, I'm probably just going to skip it since the game is just a month away. I actually popped in 2 for a bit to see if there was anything major I needed my Shepard(s) to do before transferring them to 3.

Bah i gave in and played the xbox demo since im getting the game for the ps3.

Absolutly loved every single bit of it, but the game did look a tad dark.

I just hope that PS3 users do not miss out on anything crutial with the save carryovers as its well documented some of the ME1 factors such as conrad etc were kept out of the ps3 ME2 experience.

King, afaik the only thing this demo unlocks is a pair of omniblades for Kingdoms of Amalur. Nothing for the full ME3 game itself.

Also, it is pretty lame that you have to own Battlefield 3 to get access to the multiplayer demo for this. Assholes. EDIT: Misread. It was for early access.

My bad, it was for "early access". I read the email at 5am this morning so I was half awake. ;) "Join us in the War to Take Earth Back. Battlefield 3™ players get early access to the multiplayer section of the Mass Effect 3 demo, starting now. Grab 3 of your friends, and lead them into battle against ruthless and intelligent enemies."

From what I have read, it is likely something will unlock.

Cool demo and all, but I kinda wish they hadn't chosen a mission that happened to reveal the presence of at least 3 characters whose roles I wasn't sure about heading into the game. I mean, I knew they'd be there in some capacity. No biggie, though.

Combat's very cool. Evolving powers are going to give this even more replay than the very different 6 classes in ME2. I'm curious to see how much experience you actually gain per level--given that it costs 21 points to fully evolve a single ability, I'm guessing a lot more than the 51 EXP you could max out with in ME2.

Wouldn't those characters being present depend (full game, not demo) on your ME1/2 save games anyway?

Yeah, but that they're even there generally and in interesting roles is of note.

I wonr what would happen if you killed off a lot of those characters in ME2? Would they be just, "look your save is fucked, you need to start over bro!"

I'm sure we'll find out soon, but I'm guessing you'd just have other characters fill some of the roles. Since not every returning character we see in the demo appears playable, there will surely be ways to get around it.

One of the mods on the Bioware forum actually made an interesting suggestion: play through the first time with a non-import Shepard, and then play again after, and you'll really see how vastly different the game is for people who've played the first two. Don't think anyone will do it, but intriguing.
