I have to say the inventory management of 2 is much improved over 1 but as a casual gamer I enjoyed having a maxed out Shepard leveling everything in my path rather than the COVER COVER COVER bullshit we saw in 2. It seems like they've expanded on that even more in 3, so that's not promising.

I guess I should just download the demo (it's available on PSN right?) and see what I think.

I actually liked having to take cover. Once I got to level 60 in ME1 and got the Uber heavy armor (can't recall what it was now) I basically walked through the rest of the game with my maxed fitness Soldier. It got a bit boring, even on the higher difficulties. Different tastes I guess.

Count me in on the "love cover and gameplay in ME2" camp. Every interview I've seen from Bioware has said that they have taken the best from both games to make ME3. Combat from ME2, RPG style stuff from ME1. That being said you can also choose the "type" of experience you want when you start the game. There are a few options that will make it play more like a shooter or more like an RPG.. or in the middle/default.

It was hard to go back to ME1 combat after the second game. It was still easier because powers like lift and singularity essentially stopped fights immediately, but it all felt way more sluggish. Like going back to Soul Blade after Soul Calibur, to dig pretty deep on my references.

Story Mode sounds like "I'm a huge pussy", I played the demo on Action and didn't really notice any change in difficulty. Probably just play in the regular Role Playing mode and up the difficulty.

I could see that. The game engine is certainly a lot nicer and more fluid on ME2, which allowed for that whole cover and shoot dynamic. Hell, on ME2 I basically sprinted through much of the final mission guns blazing and I found that to be a lot more thrilling than Shepard as a tank, as much fun as that is. I think I just disliked running out of ammo since I'm the sort of noob who likes shooting shit everywhere. Good to see there's different options for gameplay, though.

Also I guess the Earth city you're defending is Seattle and Vancouver sprawled into each other. Yeah Pacific Northwest!

I liked ME1's system although it does get a bit fiddly. I'm guessing the changes from 2 to 3 aren't as big as the changes from 1 to 2? Maybe they could go back and smooth out the rough edges of the first one.

That being said, I feel like going back and playing it even though I can't bring myself to finish the second.

By the way, the multiplayer is incredibly addictive if you haven't played it. So much fun. The random packages you buy to get upgrades are also pretty addictive themselves. Like buying Magic cards or something. This system is going to be great; since I usually only play through the full ME games 2-3 times, multiplayer still lets me try out all the other classes.

I played a bit of multiplayer myself. Shockingly awesome. It seems to be only the one map so I guess what I gain playing the demo will carry over into the full game.

I've gotten a second map in MP. There's one that's a more polished looking landing pad with a ship at the starting point and then another one that looks like a junkyard type area with a lot of rust colored buildings. Both are pretty fun. I can't wait to see what other areas are included in the full game.

Im starting to regret my £70 pre order based on what you get as the in game content :(.

Eh I couldn't really care less about the hoodie and mech following you around, but I'm looking forward to the bonus teammate, although based on the sound files I've heard he sounds strange, with a kind of African or Caribbean accent.

I'm a sucker for day 1 special content. I knew that, garbage as it might be, I'd eventually pay whatever inflated price they'd charge for the bonus character and mission.

It was $10 when it leaked on Live a day or two ago. I think it was called, "From Ashes" or something like that.

Yup. I had that in originally, but I screwed up the spoiler, so just cut it out. I am interested to see how they manage to fit... the squadmate... in.

I've only played the demo for Mass Effect 2 and 3 on the PS3, but I don't get all the fuss about the series. The plot looks alright, but the deal breaker for me was the technical issues. The frame rate during the cut scenes is brutal. The lip syncing is also pretty rough. Very odd for a game that builds so much on the story. The combat seemed decent, but I've played better. To each their own, but it wasn't my kind of game.

I wonder if they are able to "de-borg" a collector to find out what the fack is going on.

Back on multiplayer: the Turian Sentinel is reeeeally fun. Overload is super-powered in this game, and he tanks like a motherfucker. I'm gonna spend way too much time playing this game.

I wonder if
it's either one of the guys in stasis from Ilos, or if it's an "unprocessed Collector" from the collector base at the end of ME2. Similar to how they were able to re-animate Shepard, maybe there's some sort of way Cerberus or some other organization genetically re-engineered one of the Collectors (maybe even the one Shepard found on the collector base?) to become a Prothean again.

Well the spoilers are in.

love interest from ME2:

Seems bioware couldnt program the love interests into the games endings, thusly no matter who you fucked in ME2 the game automaticly chooses Liara... unless you fucked kaiden or ashley in ME1.
