Mass Shootings/Killings Thread

This sounds like some para-military shit. Seems like there is more than one shooter and they intentionally set some brush fires and used them to ambush first responders. Also may have killed some random hikers.
 
Yeah this is militia bullshit. Bet on it. I'd be worried about the family I have there if they weren't, you know, cheering.
 
Another shooting at a Catholic Church/School in Minneapolis, MN. 2 children dead, 17 injured, and gunman committed suicide. Obviously wasn't gonna let authorities take him alive.
 
In North Carolina there was a shooting from a guy on a boat


"Three people were killed and at least eight others injured when a gunman on a boat pulled up to a waterfront bar in North Carolina Saturday night and opened fire, officials said. A suspect is in custody in relation to the shooting at American Fish Company in Southport, city public information officer ChyAnn Ketchum said in a news release. The extent of the injuries is unknown."

Eleven Jewish individuals were killed in a shooting during a Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach, Sydney, Australia. I’ve seen a couple of video on Twitter, one of which has a guy sneaking up behind a shooter and taking his long rifle from him. And when I say long rifle, the thing looks to about five feet long.

The search for a gunman who killed two students and injured nine others inside Brown University’s engineering and physics building continues. Authorities said late Sunday they were releasing a person of interest after evidence “points in a different direction” and that they had no way of knowing if the assailant had left the state.

The father-son duo were identified as 50-year-old Sajid Akram, who moved to the country in 1998 and was killed at the scene, and 24-year-old Naveed Akram, who was born in Australia and is in custody. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said they were “driven” by extreme ideology, and were interviewed by security services in 2019 but “weren’t part of a wider cell.”

The identities of some of those who were killed in Sunday’s attack have been released. Among the 15 killed are a 10-year-old girl named Matilda and a Holocaust survivor, as well as two rabbis and at least two foreign nationals.
 
In my hometown's Mardi Gras parade two teens were shot. Social media witnesses are reporting it sounded like an "automatic weapon." We live half a mile from where the parades start for a six mile route but reasonably speaking where it happened, we should not have heard it. Around the same hour time frame I first saw the post, we heard popping sounds near our place but it was so directionally awkward from an audible standpoint I couldn't credibly tell you which direction it was, if it was return fire - bad guys chasing bad guys. or just someone's motorcycle popping in the distance. Same general block had tear gas deployed last week. The area it happened has one of the best independently owned wing shops you could ever hope to find and the teens FLOCK there after school. (hell some cut class to go there). Fucking sickening. Like, yeah, it's a high crime area but that doesn't mean kids need to get caught up in the bullshit. These events are supposed to be for the families regardless of what neighborhood it is and just fuck this stupid holiday I'm glad I don't go to parades anymore.

And I saw where one of the social media groups for my old profession was already fundraising to send relief to the families in the RI incident.

ROTC students at Old Dominion University subdued and killed shooter who left 1 dead, 2 hurt

The FBI says the suspect has been identified as Mohamed Bailor Jalloh, who pleaded guilty in 2016 to attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State.

As Old Dominion is in the same conference as Marshall, I have friends/fellow podcasters close to the school and one living there in Norfolk. It hit them pretty hard.
