Shooter threatened to shoot up a National Guard Center in the next town over this summer and was recently released from the mental hospital after that incident.

He is still at large so, yeah. I called out of work. I am not going to risk getting mowed down by a madman. @BruiserBrody needs me.

This asshole is (or was until yesterday, at least) a firearms instructor with the Army Reserves and Maine State Police haven't said if he's stolen a car or if he's hiding in the woods somewhere (and it's been 14 hours since his getaway car was found so if it's former, he could be any number of places across the country) so I have a feeling I could be stuck indoors for a while.

It's also very likely that he offed himself and body just hasn't been found. I just don't like not knowing. A lot of stuff is being canceled this weekend so I'm sure you'll get plenty of KNN updates here.

I'm really shaken up but OK given the circumstances. Maine had one of the lowest rates of gun violence and highest rates of gun ownership in the country. We've averaged 22 murders a year for the past decade and there were 18 people murdered yesterday. It was foolish for me to think it'd never happen here but I think Maine statistically would be one of the places where this is least likely to happen. Yesterday really drove home how none of us in the US are safe.
