Mass Shootings/Killings Thread

This asshole is (or was until yesterday, at least) a firearms instructor with the Army Reserves and Maine State Police haven't said if he's stolen a car or if he's hiding in the woods somewhere (and it's been 14 hours since his getaway car was found so if it's former, he could be any number of places across the country) so I have a feeling I could be stuck indoors for a while.

It's also very likely that he offed himself and body just hasn't been found. I just don't like not knowing. A lot of stuff is being canceled this weekend so I'm sure you'll get plenty of KNN updates here.
 
I'm really shaken up but OK given the circumstances. Maine had one of the lowest rates of gun violence and highest rates of gun ownership in the country. We've averaged 22 murders a year for the past decade and there were 18 people murdered yesterday. It was foolish for me to think it'd never happen here but I think Maine statistically would be one of the places where this is least likely to happen. Yesterday really drove home how none of us in the US are safe.

Some levity. It's amusing that the local NBC and ABC affiliates are still airing non stop news coverage with no commercial interruption and the CBS affiliate (which is a Sinclair station) is airing Judge Judy.

I read an article on Daily Beast iirc today where one of their neighbors the Card family is far right wing gun nuts so I am hoping that’s just misinformation and/or a misrepresentation and we aren’t going to get some sort of horrible firefight.
 
I'm wondering if he's already dead. If he made it to the ocean you might never find the body depending on ocean currents.

How long would it be in that case before things went back to normal in Maine? People would be paranoid for months over him not being found.
 
After a few days, I’d like to think the Maine State Police would let us know if they have a good idea of whether he is missing/presumed dead but who knows? North Pond Hermit was able to hide for 27 years.
 
Another shooting took place today. Joel Osteen's Lakewood Church was attacked by a gunman. I wonder if that bible-thumper, Joel Osteen will address it.
